About Mary or Dave drawbert

Dave and I are recently retired and live in Breckenridge, Co. He worked as an attorney for 35 years and I worked in healthcare. We are hoping to spend more time in Salida now that we are able. We are motorcycle and bicycle enthusiasts. Our winter interests include alpine skiing and nordic skiing. Opportunities for all of these sports are abundant in the Salida area.

Mary or Dave drawbert purchased this house in 2007

Why Mary or Dave drawbert chose South Central Colorado

We fell in love with Salida for so many reasons. The weather there is so much warmer than where we live ( Breckenridge,Co) yet we are only 75 miles away. The ambiance in Salida captured our hearts immediately. All of the great art galleries and restaurants are definitely a plus. We love the 'high desert' scenery. Our home has unparalleled 'views' that attracted us to this particular home. The proximity to Monarch ski area helped us decide on Salida!

What makes this house unique

Incredible views can be enjoyed form every window in our home. The view of Monarch Pass from the front huge window of the house are extraordinary! Wildlife is everywhere, especially mule deer. While the feeling of the home is 'countryish', Salida's downtown area is only 1.5 miles away. The roads in our neighborhood are all paved- perfect for walkers. Just down the road is Sand Lake - a small lake with plenty of geese and ducks for the little ones to feed. This lake is also stocked with trout.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dave & Mary, Thank you for the use of your home. Wehad a woderful vacation and enjoyed your place. The location was great. We rafted 2 days, zip-lined,4-wheeled, hiked, went to the Hot springs, and enjoyed the town.It was so nice to come back in the evenings and grill out on your deck. What a nice breeze. You were right about not needing air-conditioning.How I wish it were like that in Iowa1 The views were great also. There was one deer that we thought was going to ask to move in he was there so much! We would love to stay again sometime and will recommend your place to anyone we know who is going out your way. Thanks again, Jan

Fantastic stay

  • 5 of 5

The house was amazing. Had plenty of space and didn't need anything. Plenty of blankets and towels. Also, tons of storage for clothes and ski stuff which is amazing. Having two bedrooms with king size beds is also very nice. The owners are very nice. Called and checked on us the first day to see if we needed anything. We will be back for sure. We had two families of four and we had so much space to move around. The kids loved the basement. There was a nice big tv with a DVD player and fun games down there too. Thanks for a great stay.

This house is a "keeper" !!

  • 5 of 5

The location was excellent, quiet and peaceful yet close to town. Roomy, clean and attractive! The view from the wrap around deck is breathtaking!! I almost hate to give it a high rating because more people may rent the house and it might make it hard for us to ever get a chance to rent it again in the future!! We sure hope to be back!

Perfect Place to Stay for Salida Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Six of us, aged 11-70, stayed here for a long weekend in July. Every one of us loved it. The house is so spacious and clean and well-appointed. The views are amazing. We came for the Salida Classic bike race, and could actually watch the road race from the deck. So awesome! Thank you Mary and Dave for a wonderful weekend!

Wonderful Home and Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

My family of four, parents, and nephew stayed in this home and it was PERFECT! The house had everything anyone might need. We had plenty of room for all seven of us. The kitchen is stocked with any type of pan or utensil that may be needed. The view from the deck is gorgeous. We enjoyed playing horseshoes in the yard. We saw deer numerous times as well as a beautiful rainbow one evening at sunset. The girls enjoyed shopping downtown and going to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort to use the pools and hot springs creek, while the guys went fishing. We traveled to Colorado Springs to see Pikes Peak, Seven Falls, and Garden of the Gods one day, which was a beautiful drive. Independent Whitewater was close and provided a top notch rafting trip for us. Mary and Dave were easy to contact prior to our trip and Dave contacted us after we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. We would recommend this home to anyone visiting this part of Colorado!

Great place with great views.

  • 5 of 5

We stay in Salida 3 or 4 times a year in vrbo houses, and this was one of the best! The house was very clean and had plenty of room. It is just outside of town and was very peaceful and scenic. The Arkansas flows about a half mile from the house. We put some river tubes in and floated all the way to downtown Salida. Overall, I couldn't be happier with our stay and we hope it is available next time we stay in town.
