Definitely worth another 9 hour drive
My wife and two young kids were looking for a place to get away over the New Year weekend. We decided to get out of Chicago and head down to the Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg region. We spent alot of time looking on VRBO and AirBNB for a place to stay for four nights. Even looked at resorts. When we stumbled upon the farmhouse, it was right up our alley being outdoor lovers. The pictures didn't quite sell us, but the great rate made us dig deeper. We looked into all the reviews and realized we may have stumbled upon a hidden gem. Indeed, we did. We had a long drive down there, but the hosts were very communicative with us. They gave me all the details we needed before we set out. When we arrived it was late. But, the house was lit up with beautiful decorative lights like a shining star in the sky. We parked the car and saw that they had this amazing chalkboard with our names CUSTOM printed on some kind of cursive sticker and placed on the board that said "Welcome Mike and family. Happy New Year." The reason I point this out is because this attention to detail and thoughtfulness described our entire stay at the farmhouse. It was huge and we almost wished we brought more family. But, we were there to relax and relaxing is what this rental property is for. Secluded next to a cattle farm with a beautiful running river. There is no access to the river which is a bummer, but it is probably for the better :) There is a firepit outside along the river that would be great during warmer months. A beautiful porch facing the river and a mountain perfect for lounging and taking in the atmosphere. above it was another porch on the second floor. The hosts must be birdwatching enthusiasts because they provided a bird watching book and binoculars at both porches. WIFI was great. Cable was handy. The entire house was decorated so beautifully that I wish I could have them come decorate my house. The house ws extremely clean. The floors, the kitchen, the utensils, the sheets, the comforters, the towels. There was absolutely nothing we needed that they didnt have. A short drive away you can do the scenic ride with several waterfalls and great hiking. 30 minute drive through a country road over to pigeon forge and about the same to Gatlinburg. I really cant say enough about this home and we hope to come back again soon. We will pick better weather next time. I would just like let potential renters know that these pictured dont do justice to how beautiful this place is.
Michael: thank you for such a lengthy and detailed review.
We have t tried our best to make this a special place. We are glad you were pleased and hope you will return
Wonderful vacation location!
It is just as described and more! I have stayed at many vacation homes and this house has been my best experience yet! The sign with your name on it to welcome you was a nice touch. It is a very cozy, warm house in a very quiet, tranquil area. It was stocked with everything you need. We will definitely return!
Christmas get away
We loved the property, only regret we didn’t have more time.
Great vacation spot
If you are looking for a quiet place to relax, this is it.
This amazing home helped 3 very stressed women to relax and rest. It was perfectly clean and very well equipped. Everything we might have needed was there--and then some! We absolutely enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to go back in a few months!
Outstanding experience, Highly Recommend this gem of a place, breathtaking in beauty and comfort!!
We've rented vacation rentals for nearly 15+ years now and this historical farmhouse was by far the best stay for our family, we were in awe upon arrival from being greeted with a personal A-Frame sign outside the front entry (Memorbale personal touch) upon entering the place smelled so good, was immaculate and the details of restoration but still keeping the original feel was on point You can tell the owner put Alot of love, thought and consideration in the details, we spent Thanksgiving week here and too see our family really enjoy this stay was very important to us. We arrived after dark the first night, and the wrap around porch had holiday lights wrapped so lovingly around the exterior space, upon waking we couldn't wait to explore outside.... Let me tell you THE VIEW is incredible, mountains, wild turkey, cows in the distant fields, a rushing stream that you can hear from the wrap around porch and upper veranda was mesmerizing ❤ the grounds were very well taken care of. Although sight-seeing was on the agenda, I truly wanted to spend every moment of trip at this heavenly place. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could possibly think of, high end dishes and cookery, not the cheap looking stuff you generally find in a vacation rental, an amazing restored vintage gas stove top, nice appliances, new washer/dryer, big bath tubs and good quality fluffy towels, and expect a good night's rest in the comfy beds, central heat/air and double fireplace from livingroom side to dining room side gas-remote controlled. Great WIFI in this home and water pressure. The only downfall was when it was time to leave, we are already planning a return trip! Many Thanks to the owner of Twin Oaks
