Our quiet, peaceful, and secluded guest house lies less than 1/4 mile above Bernardus Lodge. It was completely remodeled in 2006. It is spacious yet cozy for two people at 600+ square feet. It has beautiful views of Garland Ranch Regional Park and Garzas Canyon.
The guest house is minutes from Leguna Seca (5), Monterey (15-20), Pacific Grove (25), Garland Park (2), Wine Tasting and Carmel-by-the-Sea (10-15). It is approximately 45 minutes to Big Sur.

Hello! We look forward to accommodating you at our wonderful spot in Carmel Valley. Our son, Rogers helps us manage the guest house so he'll be your primary point of contact when coordinating your stay.
Rogers purchased this bungalow in 1989
Carmel Valley is known for its great climate, rustic feel, and beautiful scenery. We actually reside in the main house which sits lower on our property. There are no direct sight lines between the two houses and often times we don't even meet our guests (although we most certainly enjoy when we do). It has great southern exposure and views onto Garland Park, the eastern part of the valley, and the Santa Lucia Mountain Range.
There are a quite a few nice things about the guest house. Please read the guest comments in our online guest book and view the photos as they best describe the benefits and amenities that our guest house has to offer.
We completely remodeled the guest house in 2005/06, and many guests have told us how much they like the 'feel' of the place. We've been on VRBO since late 2007 and have been excited ever since at having guests enjoy the beautiful place we call home.
We had a fabulous three-day weekend. The little house is perfect -- secluded and quiet with an amazing view of the valley.
The guest house was perfect and exactly what me and my husband were looking for. The guest house was incredibly spacious and we could literally hear the crickets outside, it was that quiet. It was well decorated and clean and provided all the basic amenities. It was close to Carmel but also provided a lot of privacy so we really had the best of both worlds. We felt feeling so relaxed and energized!
Driving into the guest house Saturday night, we saw 4 deer on our way in! And then on Sunday night, as we were enjoying our dinner on the patio looking at the beautiful scenery, we heard soft noises behind us and then saw the deer walk around the guest house in search of food.
The booking process was seamless and had absolutely no complaints! Everything was well organized and provided to us in an efficient and timely manner. We look forward to coming back for another weekend getaway!
This guest house was close enough for us to explore the Carmel and Monterey coastal area and at the same time enjoy a sense of solitude. Comfortable, spacious for 2, with a cute kitchenette which allows not for cooking an elaborate meal, but is fine to heat up leftovers or make a simple breakfast. The bathroom is lovely, with a gorgeous tiled shower (a highlight, I confess!) Even with the dryness of the drought here, the hilly view was pretty and the changing valley skies fun to watch. Would definitely recommend.
The charming cottage built on the top of owner’s 3-car garage is quiet and private, and has great views. It is a perfect place for a short vacation, well-appointed, with very nicely decorated living room and a modern bathroom also w. view. Unfortunately, everything looks tired and worn-out; cleanliness lets a lot to desire, especially in the bedroom. Wi-Fi and cell phone reception are excellent. The highlight of the cottage is the wrap-around terrace w. gorgeous views of the valley (and of the main house), but the outdoor furniture has reached the end of its life, especially the cushions. Roger gave misleading info re. issues mentioned in previous reviews: none has been fixed by mid-April, the kitchenette is very poorly equipped and it is BYO even for minimal meal prep. It is hard to understand the glowing reviews – the place has tons of potential, its location is splendid, but it is a far cry from 5-star.
The Hawley's guest house was a perfect little place perched on the side of Carmel Valley with beautiful views. It was a great location to explore the nearby Carmel area and surroundings, but far enough from the town to be private and quiet. It contained all the essentials, and Rogers even provided extra beach towels upon request. I would definitely recommend.
We stayed 3 nights at the guest house and it was the perfect place for a long weekend. Very laid back, gorgeous view and comfortable/clean home. Nestled in the hills, we slept soundly and woke up refreshed with a great view to start our day. Whether you're heading to Big Sur, Carmel, Monterey or just down the street to Carmel Valley this spot makes it easy to enjoy it all. We would love to come back again :)
