We are your hosts. Sandy Toshiyuki and the husband Frank Soracco. Frank has lived in Venice since 1969 and I have lived here since we married in 1979. We worked at a restaurant we owned in Marina del Rey for many years. We gave up day to day management recently but we still keep our hand in a bit. However we can still make a great Martini. Our Vacation rental is a Father in Law unit, in our house, where my dad lived for 8 years until he died in 2004. After he died Frank remodeled the unit as a guest room for friends an relatives. When so few came to visit and Frank couldn't stand having an idle asset so when friends told him about VRBO, he joined up. Having HOTEL 508 next door has been a great joy for us as we have met many wonderful people from all over the world and we look forward to meeting many more.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 1973
When I first moved to Southern California in 1969 to open a restaurant with my bother Peter I rented an apartment in the Venice Canals. Two years later when the landlord raise my rent to what I thought was an amount that might cover a mortgage payment I went house hunting. Venice was an almost slum back in those days and prices were cheep. Venice is now one of the hippest neighbor hoods in LA.
We live here all the time and never go on vacation for a change of climate only for a change of scenery.

Your little casa is adorable and you thought of everything to make your guests comfortable. We loved spending the night and hope to come back for a longer stay. Thank you for all your thoughts for the little details that make ones stay feel like home.

It was everything advertised and more. I have already recommended to friends coming to LA area. Frank was very gracious and helpful.
Parking was easy. Property was clean. Hope to make it back again.
Stayed 5 nights here and it was the perfect location walking to the beach, canals and Abbott Kinney with plenty of shops and restaurants. We used Aloha Brothers surf School for lessons and they met us right near the house. Frank was right next door if we needed anything. We will definitely be back and stay right here. Thanks Frank!
Easy walking distance to beach, canals, shopping, dining. And yet you still have a quiet ,shaded street with easy parking. This was our second visit and loved it just as much as the first. If you are with car, Santa Monica, Malibu, and the pacific coast highway are close by and offer incredible views. Frank and sandy are very welcoming ,helpful, and responsive(frank even went out and got a nightlight upon suggestion).all comforts of home, bed very comfortable. Definitely hope to come back!
I booked hotel 508 6 weeks prior to arrival. I spoke to the owner, Frank, who said that I did not need to give a deposit, because he did not trust the VRBO site since he thought they could get hacked into. He assured me that the dates I picked were free and even sent a confirmation e-mail.
One week before our arrival I decided to contact the owner since I had not heard from him. He wrote back that he had somehow double booked and someone else was staying there so we had no place to stay!! I should have insisted on putting down a deposit.
My wife and i needed a few days in the sun but did not want the hassle of car hire so short taxi ride from LAX and plenty of places to walk to were our main aim. This rental fitted our needs perfectly, it was just like home only smaller of course. Frank and Sandy's hospitality was great and we had everything we needed in the suite for our few days in the sun. We walked many miles up and down the beach and found many places to eat and drink and never once felt we needed a car. The location was nice and quiet and the bed was so comfy after a days walking we wanted to take it home with us.
We stayed at Hotel 508 for a week in April, and the location could not have been more perfect for us. Frank and Sandy were wonderful accommodating hosts, and they offered a wealth of information about the area and its history. Hotel 508 is on a quiet and safe street within walking distance to so many things. It was a very easy walk to the beach and just a block from great restaurants and shops. The apartment was extremely well equipped with anything you could need for food preparation and there were plenty of towels. The best part was the amazingly comfortable memory foam bed. It was great having access to a washer and dryer, too! The apartment could not have been more comfortable for our stay. We will certainly be back if our next travel dates are available. I give Hotel 508 an excellent rating.
Studio is a short walk to the heart of Venice Beach and an even shorter walk the the heart of Abbott Kinney Blvd. There are many good restaurants near by and a couple of very good ones as well as a hot bar scene. Abbott Kinney is a wonderful street to walk while looking at the people and shops. There are very interesting shops offering everything from home furnishings to hip clothes for both men and women. A little longer walk gets you to Santa Monica or Marina del Rey. The Venice Canals with many outstanding contemporary homes is close by.
