Located on Leroy Island (accessible by vehicle), 'Quiet Waters' was chosen as the name for this charming cottage found in a protected portion of Great Sodus Bay. Swans often nest across the water in the wildlife preserve; wildlife abounds. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation on the bay and enjoy water sports and sunsets, you need look no further!
Sodus Bay is known for spectacular water activities: excellent fishing and boating of all types. 'Quiet Waters' is conveniently located within minutes of several waterfront restaurants and two marinas, one with boat rentals and bait. You can also go by boat to Sodus Point or take the channel into Lake Ontario. Sodus Point features a sandy beach on the lakefront, two lighthouses and maritime museum, charter fishing, dining, and shopping.
Visit Niagara Falls, Watkins Glen Gorge and Speedway, Letchworth State Park, the spectacular Chimney Bluffs or one of the many area wineries and orchards. If racing or gambling are a part of your vacation plans, there are five nearby casinos and several stock car, speedway, and horse racing tracks to choose from. Enjoy a cruise on the barge canal or go antiquing! Bass Pro is only 45 minutes away!
Or you may choose to just relax quietly at your vacation rental. Sunrise coffee on the deck, morning fishing from the dock, afternoon siestas in the sunroom and/or boat rides with the kids, evening cocktails back on the deck; if these appeal to you, then the allergy-free cottage (sorry no pets and no smoking), 'Quiet Waters' is for you!
We arrived at Quiet Waters on July 25th for a weeks stay. The cottage is simply adorable. Love the sunroom and the big windows looking out onto the deck and lake. Just perfect! Sweet flowers and landscaping topped off this adorable place. Very relaxing and not too far from Sodus Point for restaurants and some shops. Big plus were the kayaks. Two kayaks await for adventure! We kayaked the entire bay and Chimney Bluff as well!!!! Kayaking anytime you like is awesome!!!!! The landlords are amazing to work with. THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!!!!!
This was a great little cottage and just what we were looking for. We used quiet waters as a jumping off point for trips to Niagara Falls, Rochester and Oswego, plus enjoyed the sights on the bay. The kayaks were an added bonus enjoyed by our two sons. As the name implies, this is a quiet spot that we really enjoyed coming back to at the end of the day. We recommend an easy hike at Chimney Bluffs and really nice beach at Sodus Point. The Helluva Good cheese stand is worth a visit and we ate at Skippers cove twice, great sunset spot, especially from the outdoor deck, very nice staff.
The cottage is obviously well cared for and clean. There was a new brick paver path and nice landscape touches so there is a good amount of attention being paid to the home. The second bedroom has a single and loft single so make sure you have some athletic guests for the second room. Bathroom was clean and neat, but the shower is a little tight yet perfectly functional. Carol and Andy were super easy to work with.
Myself, my boyfriend, and his daughter stayed at Quiet Waters in mid-July 2014 - what a wonderful stay! The cabin is updated and was very roomy for the 3 of us. The weather was beautiful, not too hot! So quiet, with the exception of the frogs and squirrels at play! We were only about 12 miles from Sodus Point where you can find a couple of great little eateries as well as a beachfront area. Helluva Good is not far and Webster and Rochester are just a 1/2 hour to 40 min away and we were not far from our hometowns so several friends and family were able to come see us and enjoy some great BBQ's on the deck! If you're looking to get away and just kick back and relax, Quiet Waters is the place! The Traister's were very easy to work with too .... good times, thank you so much for sharing your cottage with us!
We (5) had a great week at Quiet Waters. We kayaked to the Point, water skiied, sailed, swam in the bay and Lake Ontario, grilled on the deck and just relaxed. I introduced my friends to Orbakers, Connelly's Cove, Abbott's frozen custard and McGregor's on Irodequoit Bay. Beautiful, quiet and comfortable. The owners are very easy to work with.
We stayed for a week in August and had an awesome time! Lots of great sightseeing and places to eat. The cottage was great, very clean and good amenities. Carol as very helpful with the rental process. We would defininately recommend this cottage for a very peaceful, low key vacation.
Connelly's Cove Restaurant usually has an outside BBQ and provides live music for dancing on Sunday afternoons!
