Can Jan is an ancient Catalonian farmhouse that has been comprehensively restored and decorated to a high standard.
Positioned within a private valley, Can Jan’s grounds include an olive grove, fruit trees, pool area and lawns, all surrounded by more than 500 acres of private woodland at the foot of the Pyrenees.
The house sleeps up to 24 people and comprises the following:

Services that are included in your booking:
From 9:00 am till 3:00 pm a house keeper will clean 2 bedrooms per day on a rota basis, and clean all common parts. This will be done 6 days per week
Gardener & pool man will work the same hours & days as above
All linen & towels, including pool towels

The Main Entrance to Can Jan. Includes a staircase up to the West Hall, access to the dining room, professional kitchen, sauna and bedroom one.
The Dining Room adjoins the Main Hall and Family Kitchen. It has adequate seating for 24.
Sitting Room Snug
The Snug adjoins the Dining Room and has comfortable seating for 6.
The Family Kitchen features all modern conveniences for catering for your group and a small dining table for informal eating.
This fully-equipped kitchen is for those larger groups that will require a professional chef.
Sauna and Steam room
A great way to relax those tired muscles and freshen up the soul, here you will find a Sauna, Steam room and Showers.
An East facing, ground floor, wheelchair accessible twin room with shower.
Outside Dining Area
A wisteria canopied patio – just outside the guest kitchen.
A West facing double or twin room with balcony, shower and two sinks.
The West hall contains the staircase up to the Second Floor West and down to the Main Hall as well as outside access to the staff quarters and grounds.
First Floor Sitting Room
This large sitting room comfortably seats 8 with a fireplace and southern views. Outside is a large balcony with panoramic views of the grounds and surrounding mountains. The sitting room adjoins the West Hall and the Television room.
The only television in the house is in this secluded room.

Open Air Sitting Room
This room has an open log fire and stunning panoramic views of the valley. Bedrooms 8 and 12 adjoin this room.

North facing double bedroom including an extra mezzanine sleeping area perfect for kids. This is the only non en-suite bedroom, however, the West Hall Bathroom is just next door.
West Hall Bathroom
The bathroom for Room 10 can be accessed from the West Hall. Shower over bath.
North facing twin room with 2 single beds and shower room.
A South facing double or twin room accessed from the Open Air Sitting Room with shower and two sinks.
The large (10x15m) and deep (1.5-3m) pool is a short stroll across the lawn from the house. The pool area contains sun loungers and al-fresco showers.
The pool house includes a wood fired BBQ, eating area, table tennis, toilet room, sink and fridge/freezer and a day bed.
No Lifeguard on Duty.
Persons using pool do so at their own risk.
Children under the age of 14 should not use pool without an adult in attendance.

The owner is a keen conservationist and a passion for unique remote places in stunning landscapes.
Its in 500 acres of stunning private grounds, it has an extraordinary habitat, full of birds including nightingales and several birds of prey. Hundreds of butterflies, months,amphibians,reptiles,wild Boar,Deer,Lynx, Polecats, Weasels and wild Mink.
Things To Do
The vast range of sports in the area may surprise you, from Bird Watching, Walking, Cycling, Canoeing, Mountain Biking, Rock-Climbing, Golf, Fishing and Horse Riding.
Can Jan is situated in over 500 acres of private woodland including a great many hiking trails to explore on foot or two wheels, and these adjoin the extensive La Garroxta National Park.

Lake Banyoles is the largest lake in Catalunya and is about 1.5 miles long and only 10km from Can Jan. Boat trips are available and rowing boats can be hired or you may prefer to walk or cycle around it. This lake was used for the Barcelona Olympic Rowing events. An information centre is located beside the lake.
The ancient city of Gerona is a 30 minute drive from Can Jan. The small city is easy to explore on foot and contains a wealth of historical architecture, museums, restaurants and fashionable cafes.
The second largest city in Spain can be easily reached by Train. It’s stunning architecture, parks and beaches make it a unique day out.
The Natural Park of the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, is a short drive away. Here you can take your binoculars and observe 329 species of bird.

Mountain Biking and Cycling
The grounds of Can Jan are perfect for Mountain Biking and Cycling, or a more extensive 24 mile route can be found starting from Besalu. Bikes can be delivered to the house, prices can be found here.
Nearby golf courses include TorreMirona, just 15 minutes away, Girona Golf Course, 25 minutes away and Camprodon 40 minutes to the North.
Just 20 minutes away is the area of Beuda, which features some stunning climbing routes for many different skill levels.
Hot Air Balloning

Besalú is situated 10 minutes from Can Jan in the area of La Garrotxa at the point where two rivers, the Fluvia and the Capellades meet.
The town features arcaded streets and squares and also a restored mikveh, a ritual Jewish bath dating from the eleventh or twelfth century, as well as the remains of a medieval synagogue, located in the lower town near the river. Besalú also hosts the Museum of miniatures created by jeweler and art collector Lluís Carreras.
In 1966 the village was declared a monumental centre giving protection to its historical buildings and preserving its beauty for the local inhabitants and the many visitors it receives each year.
The town is host to a great many shops, restaurants and cafes.

The swimming pool will have a secure fence built around it before the summer high season 2015.
