Space 1,600 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 0 - 3 nights

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 full bathrooms, mountain views

Our house is very clean and tastefully decorated. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms (one with an ADA height toilet). The Master Bedroom is a large room with a queen size brass bed. The room has vaulted ceilings, two large closets and a patio door to the sunroom. A full bathroom, with double sinks, adjoins the master bedroom. The master bedroom is away from the other 2 bedrooms.

The second bedroom has a queen bed, closet, dresser, and two windows with views of Beaver Mountain. Wake up to some bright mountain sunshine. Across the hall is bedroom #3 with 2 twin beds in a cowboy theme with black painted iron beds. There is a nightstand, a closet and a generous window.

Between the 2 bedrooms is a full bathroom. Both bathrooms have large mirrors and hair dryers.

The dining area has plenty of room for the large table that seats 8. The gas fireplace warms chilly nights and a skylight over the table makes for bright breakfasts.

The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, dishwasher, new refrigerator, a microwave, and a disposal. A crock pot and a popcorn popper make your stay more enjoyable. There are plenty of pots and pans as well as a full set of white dishes, with plenty of glassware and silverware.

Our living room is very large with a vaulted ceiling, sky lights, leather furniture, cable TV, a gas fireplace and a patio door out to a covered deck. The deck has a gas grill, table and chairs and a vintage glider.

Our front porch is perfect for warm months. The vintage wicker furniture beckons you to sit for a while. You have a view of Beaver Mountain or watch the hummingbirds at the feeder.

The sun room is all windows and skylights. Furnished with white painted vintage table and chairs, it is a favorite for breakfasts or quiet reading and wildlife viewing.

The game room has a fooseball table and the laundry room has full sized new washer and dryer.

Wildlife abounds in this area and especially around this spot. Our front yard may be small but our "backyard" is 2million acres of The Rio Grande National Forest. The mule deer make themselves right at home, along with the wild turkeys, We have seen bears and owls and elk and even a mother moose and twin calves took a snooze in our yard. In the spring and fall it is worth the drive to the Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge to view thousands of sandhill cranes as they stop over in their migration.

About Mary

My husband, Jim, and I are from Minnesota....about 30 miles from the Twin Cities, in Stillwater. This is a river town on the St. Croix River separating MN and WI. We have one son. He and his wife have a little girl, so we are happy to be grandparents.

I am a retired middle school teacher and Jim still works in the summer as a chef/manager for local river boats.

Mary purchased this house in 2004

Why Mary chose Ponderosa Pines

Our family loves the out of doors. We have traveled to Colorado extensively, especially to ski races when our son was in USSA ski program. On a summer trip we were driving through the San Juan Mountains and were amazed at the untouched beauty and rugged, wild terrain. When we heard elk bugle as we inspected the house, we HAD to have this place.

What makes this house unique

The quiet and the inspiring landscape here have caused us to fall in love with the area. The wildlife we've seen, the trails we've hiked, the breath taking waterfalls, golden aspens and cottonwoods, Colorado the way it is meant to Starbuck's or shopping malls. The friendly people make it even more inviting to belong here. We love sharing our home with others who love these same things.

We enjoyed our stay. The drive to Wolf Creek was not bad at all. Loved watching the wildlife in the mornings and evenings. Would definitely stay here again.
