Lopes is a spacious quayside house overlooking the fishing harbour, marina, fish market, and with commanding views across Torbay and Lyme Bay. Lopes was built during the 1700's. Once a pub; in 1860 it was known as 'The Lopes Arms'. Since then it has gone through several transformations, but is still at the heart of the fishing town, always bustling with activity during the Easter and Summer months, and is only minutes walk from the many bars, restaurants, shops and the coastal path.

Unusually for a quayside property Lopes has private off-road parking for two cars only a few minutes walk away.

With three bedrooms, two bathrooms a utility room and a small courtyard ideal for drying off swimwear after a day on the beach, Lopes is ideal for families wishing to explore Brixham and the surrounding area. In one of the bedrooms the two single beds can be fixed together and be made up as a double if required (please advise at time of booking). The living area is on the third floor to take best advantage of the panoramic views. From here you can observe every sailboat, power boat and fishing boat that enters and leaves Brixham harbour.

Breakwater Beach and Shoalstone Seawater Pool are within easy walking distance. Catching crabs on the quayside is very popular and of course there is the replica Golden Hind to visit and pirates are ever-present!

Despite being built nearly two hundred years ago, Lopes has spacious rooms (especially compared to many of the fishermen's cottages), and has recently been fully modernised to an exceptionally high standard.

Lopes was the house I just had to have as soon as I saw it - its location is perfect.

What makes this house unique

Hardly any other quayside properties can offer private off-road parking. Most people renting around the harbour are left hunting for parking spaces in the busy car parks and, further afield, on the roads without yellow lines.

The two parking spaces are about 350 metres from Lopes - four or five minutes walk.

The property is stunning, as you walk though the front door it has a wow factor everything was so fresh & clean & so welcoming & homely we had a really relaxing stay .Chris was very helpful & friendly we would recommend it to anyone .

Weekend in Brixham

The house we stayed in Brixham was a lovely renovated cottage called Lopes overlooking the harbour. The house is 5star quality & everything in it just perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it & owners direct to my friends. The owners Chris & Julia were great to deal with &should be very proud of their beautiful property which they keep immaculately.

probably one of the best cottages we have ever rented and truly 5 star

Lopes in Brixham was probably one of the best cottages we have ever rented and truly a 5 star property. The views from the living area were just stunning and it was so nice being able to walk into the harbour attractions in just a few meters. The property had every item we could possibly need and everything was so clean, fresh and spotless. There is so much to do in the area and we particularly enjoyed mackeral fishing, ferry trip to Dartmouth and Agathie Christie’s house. We also enjoyed walking along the coast path East to Berry Head and also west to Elberry cove which is a dog friendly beach in walking distance. Most of all we just enjoyed walking around the immediate area and enjoying the lively atmosphere and beautiful sunsets.

Absolutely outstanding

We were two couples staying in Lopes for a week while at a sailing event at Brixham YC. The location was ideal, only 100m from the club, with great views from the top floor living area. It is just at the end of a busy harbour front road full of restaurants and shops. Our favourite was the Poopdeck restaurant - we went on a recommendation and were glad we did!

What sets Lopes apart from other properties we have stayed in was the standard of the bathrooms and kitchen (looked like they were brand new, right down to kitchen tools), the overall décor and furniture (again looked new and tastefully done), flat screen TVs in all rooms (!) and the overall cleanliness. And also the welcome gifts.

We could not fault it. If we return to Brixham, which we hope we will, we will desperately try to book Lopes again.

The lopes -fabulous

We had a amazing time cottage was just stunning so cosy. Near to all the pubs and eating place we will definitely book up for next year I was looking for next year on my way home

Brixham is an excellent place to be based for exploring South Devon. Dartmouth, with it's marina, castle and naval college, Dartmoor national park for awe-inspiring walks including the mysterious Wistmans Wood, and quaint Totnes town are just some of the places of interest.
