Lopes is a spacious quayside house overlooking the fishing harbour, marina, fish market, and with commanding views across Torbay and Lyme Bay. Lopes was built during the 1700's. Once a pub; in 1860 it was known as 'The Lopes Arms'. Since then it has gone through several transformations, but is still at the heart of the fishing town, always bustling with activity during the Easter and Summer months, and is only minutes walk from the many bars, restaurants, shops and the coastal path.

Unusually for a quayside property Lopes has private off-road parking for two cars only a few minutes walk away.

With three bedrooms, two bathrooms a utility room and a small courtyard ideal for drying off swimwear after a day on the beach, Lopes is ideal for families wishing to explore Brixham and the surrounding area. In one of the bedrooms the two single beds can be fixed together and be made up as a double if required (please advise at time of booking). The living area is on the third floor to take best advantage of the panoramic views. From here you can observe every sailboat, power boat and fishing boat that enters and leaves Brixham harbour.

Breakwater Beach and Shoalstone Seawater Pool are within easy walking distance. Catching crabs on the quayside is very popular and of course there is the replica Golden Hind to visit and pirates are ever-present!

Despite being built nearly two hundred years ago, Lopes has spacious rooms (especially compared to many of the fishermen's cottages), and has recently been fully modernised to an exceptionally high standard.

Lopes was the house I just had to have as soon as I saw it - its location is perfect.

What makes this house unique

Hardly any other quayside properties can offer private off-road parking. Most people renting around the harbour are left hunting for parking spaces in the busy car parks and, further afield, on the roads without yellow lines.

The two parking spaces are about 350 metres from Lopes - four or five minutes walk.

Brixham is an excellent place to be based for exploring South Devon. Dartmouth, with it's marina, castle and naval college, Dartmoor national park for awe-inspiring walks including the mysterious Wistmans Wood, and quaint Totnes town are just some of the places of interest.

Fantastic property and amazing views

Loved the holiday cottage ,exceptionally clean and a fab location there was everything we needed at the cottage and lovely to have a bottle of wine and chocs left for us . The parking area was an added bonus as Brixham is very busy in August .We loved the location of the cottage as we were close to all the shops ,pubs and restaurants without having to drive . The harbour views were amazing and we were very fortunate with the weather .

A must stay !

This cottage is located in a great location,it's literally a 2 minute walk to the harbour,the cottage is modern has everything that you need for your stay.It has fantastic views looking out over the harbour and out over to torquay.I would recommend this for couples and family.You can park up and enjoy all the facilities it has to offer. Well worth a visit.

Great place to stay in Brixham

Lopes is such a great place to stay in Brixham. Overlooking the busy harbour it was interesting to see the fishing industry in operation. The top floor living space has fabulous views across the harbour and out to sea. On a clear day we could see Torquay and sometimes all the way across to Lyme Regis.

Lopes is very spacious, modern, spotlessly clean and comfortable. There are 2 steep flights of stairs up to the top floor but the views are worth the effort. The kitchen is very well equipped.

There is ample space for 2 cars in the parking area 5 minutes walk away, which again is steeply uphill ( but down on the way back!). We were able to park to unload luggage quite near to the front door.

The owner, Chris, was very helpful and friendly, promptly answering one or two questions and the welcome pack was very much appreciated.

Lopes has lots of restaurants, cafes, pubs and shopping on the doorstep in Brixham. It is such an easy place to stay. The walks and views from here along the South West coast path, just in front of the house, are stunning.

We hope to return and highly recommend Lopes.
