Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4) + large sofa for 5th person
Our 200 year old cottage retains all the quaint charms of days-gone-by, but has all the amenities and comforts of a modern home. It’s a lovely and tranquil retreat in highly sought after Stow-on-the-Wold, one of England’s most picturesque villages in the Cotswolds, reachable by car or train. Train station is ten minutes from nearby Moreton in Marsh with bus service to Stow. Train ride is just 1 hour and 20 minutes from London.
Within the village are The Royalist, the oldest inn in England, and St. Edward’s, one of the great wool churches, as well as the Toy and Collectors Museum. Stow has wonderful boutiques and galleries, excellent restaurants and tea rooms, and walking trails through the lovely countryside. Every weekend during any time of the year has something going on in town: antique markets, farmers markets with local produce, etc.
This warmly intimate two bedroom cottage has designer furniture, beautiful original art, antiques and a wood-burning fireplace to keep it cozy. The newly carpeted and painted living room features a 32 inch plasma television, SKY satellite programming and a DVD player. Enjoy music on our CD/Stereo/Digital Radio System while seated on our custom made corner sofa or a wing back armchair and foot stool.
The charming kitchen and dining area has been fully updated with new appliances including a fridge, electric stove, dishwasher and microwave as well as a gourmet’s cookware and utensils. Set the dining table for four with colorful glasses from our crystal cabinet. Washer and dryer on premises.
The master bedroom features a king size bed. Guest bedroom has a double bed. Luxurious linens are provided. The fully modernized bathroom features a separate shower and a large tub for a satisfying and soapy plunge.
Outside the house is a lovely, gated garden with a deck and outdoor furniture for four and ample street parking. A telephone is provided as well as wireless Broadband Internet. Clean, well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement - sorry, no cats. Smoking is not allowed inside this home.
This central location in the Cotswolds is close to the area's other famous villages of Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden, Burford, Upper and Lower Slaughter and Bourton-on-the-Water. 25 minutes away are Cirencester, Cheltenham and Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Shabby, definitely not chic
Well located and good internal layout. Very comfy beds. However the property is in need of painting internally and the bathroom needs attention ... carpet in bathroom needs replacing with something more hygienic. Kitchen also needs a bit of sprucing - drawers need adjusting and the kitchen implements are lacking. Rusty tin mugs mugs not fit for use. There was a smoke alarm but it was sitting on a kitchen shelf and didN’t work. Will avoid this place and won’t use Jigsaw Holidays again. Can’t believe they have inspected the place as it is not fit for letting compared to other holiday companies’ standards which are much higher. It is well over priced comparatively. Shame on the owners and shame on Jigsaw Holidays. Recommend you avoid.
Lovely & welcoming
We loved staying at the cottage. A brilliant location, good amenities perfect for families. Would definitely book again!
Beautiful cottage with all you need. Excellent location and parking
From the first contact with the owner everything was great. On arrival the cottage was clean with a welcome bottle of wine on the table along with a cake and some milk in the fridge. Kitchen is a good size with a dining table and all you need to be a home from home. The living room was a good size with a big sofa and seperate chair and was very comfortable especially with the log fire going to warm us up after a long wet walk. Bedrooms are a good size and the bathroom has a big bath with a separate shower. 5 minute walk to the centre of Stow with all the fine pubs and shops. We had a fantastic 3 nights and would really like to stay again. My only slight issue was the WI-FI which was very hit and miss but did not deter from our stay.
Quaint and cosy, with real character.
A beautiful part of the world, and lovely to return to a cosy English cottage. Some teething problems, as seems like the housekeepers were not expecting our arrival, hence had not been cleaned since the last clients. Both Housekeeper Esme, & "handyman" Richard were quite superb. Thank you to both for their diligence and care. Richrad had to visit several times as the boiler and hot water system failed twice- both times promptly restored. The cottage is very well resourced, & the beds are the comfiest I have ever stayed in outside my own. Location superb, the beautiful Stow on the Wold. Not easy to find the cottage, & parking less than ideal, when loading / unloading the car. Garden I am sure is delightful in summer, looks badly in need of TLC now.
Despite the above, enjoyed very much - many thanks to all.
Lovely cosy cottage!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carters Cottage! Just perfect for our stay and our annual visit for the Cheltenham Festival (a shame we got beaten to book it for next year). Not sure if we had another 'visitor' during our stay....but we weren't spooked by it in any case. Everything we like from a holiday cottage....thank you.
What a lovely cottage
Great base for getting around the Cotswolds. House was well equipped and it was great that it had free wifi.
Would definitely stay here again.
