Gorgeous setting and beautiful farmhouse! Warm and cozy, clean and comfortable. 8 friends were there together and everyone loved it, even the men! Highly recommend this home away from home.

An old stone farm house.

  • 5 of 5

The setting is lovely. The old stone house is very attractive. The site is not far, by car, to many interesting things to see and do. The house would be particularly fun for kids in the summertime since there is a swimming pool, a large screened in porch, and an outdoor fire pit. We were there in winter and our grandkids, ages 12, 10, and 7 enjoyed it in winter too. There are dogs to pet and horses to watch, a basketball hoop and a slanted driveway for skateboarding. The Amish farmland that makes up much of the area is neatly tended and adds to the setting. The owners were very generous in receiving many Christmas packages on our behalf. They put them in the farmhouse for us. We needed this help because 2 of us were flying in from out of town, and we were meeting family there to celebrate Christmas. The owners were always very responsive to our emails and texts. We found and used many facilities in Lancaster: The Central Market, the Herz car rental, Commonwealth on Queen for catering our Christmas meal, The Women's and Babies Hospital, for one of our party who had a medical emergency. The hospital provided very good and thorough service. (It is one branch of a comprehensive hospital in the area.) We also very much enjoyed a morning with a falconer which we booked through the Hershey Hotel and which took place in Hershey. We went on the "factory tour" in Hershey, which we do not recommend. We ate at the Hershey Hotel, which was good, but we enjoyed the quieter and smaller venues more, like The Speckled Hen in Strasbourg.

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here with our 4 kids and had a wonderful time.

The property was even nicer in person than in the posted pictures. It was clean and well-appointed. The fenced in porch with ceiling fan was nice for late dinners and just hanging out. We made s'mores on the outdoor fir pit with kindling and wood provided. Another couple stayed with us for part of the trip and the 2 master suites were great. The kids slept in the upstairs bedrooms and in the various fold-out couches. The pool was warm in the summer weather and the kids really enjoyed the pool toys. The pastures and horses with the Amish buggies on the otherwise quiet road provided an idyllic setting- but there are a few people who come and go the care for the horses daily.

Overall a great trip - we hope to return!

Wonderful Week

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on a very snowy and icy Saturday and were delighted to find that the driveway and walkway had been cleared. In fact the owners emiled us to see when we would be arriving so they could ensure that everything was clear and ready. It snowed throughout the night and the next morning when we woke up there was a very nice young man shoveling all the sidewalks again. We used the fireplaces multiple times and never ran out of wood. It seemed when we would use the wood from the covered area it would magically reappear. This is the second property that we have rented from these owners and both times had wonderful visits and look forward to trying another one of their properties next year.

Car: necessary

Come spend a week in the country! There are many activities for you to enjoy that are unique to Lancaster County. The Amish community is of great interest with tours to attend and shops to visit that display the Amish lifestyle. Also, there is an abundance of outlet shopping within a 15 minute drive (Pottery Barn, Ralph Lauren, Gap, J. Crew, Pfaltzgraf, Brooks Brothers, Aigner, local crafts people, and many more). We are only minutes from a large orchard where you can pick your own cherries, peaches or apples. Experience live theater at the American Music Theater, Sight and Sound, or The Fulton Opera House. We have theme parks too - Dutch Wonderland, for younger kids (15 min), & Hershey Park (45 min). Lancaster also boasts many quality restaurants for all dining preferences. You can tour local wineries or historic museums. Finally, The Philadelphia Zoo, Baltimore Inner Harbour and National Science Center are only 1 1/2 hours away. There is so much more to do, just ask.
