Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a weekend. Very clean, beautiful property and nice view. A little windy when we were there on the lake, but still had a lot of fun fishing. Owners are very easy to get in touch with as well. Thanks

Lovely Stay

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed in a variety of vacation homes around the world and this is definitely one of the best. It's well kept, the location is amazing, and the views are beyond beautiful. The pictures don't even do this home justice. I'm definitely coming back.

10 years strong!

  • 5 of 5

I organize a trip to Big Bass Lake every year. This year was the tenth year in a row we have stayed at the Kellett's house! It goes without saying that we all absolutely love this house. It is very big and clean, has all of the needed amenities, lots of comfortable sleeping space, and is situated on a great part of Big Bass Lake. I hope we continue to rent here for another ten years - it's my favorite 4 days of the year!

30th Bday Weekend

  • 5 of 5

I decided for my 30th I wanted to get a house with 10 other of my closes friends and sweetie. We had such a great time. In the winter they have snow tubing and an indoor pool you can use relatively close for a small fee. We enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen and the hot tub I'm the middle of the winter was beautiful. I definitely want to go back when we could actually use the boat and the dock. The owner was responsive and very nice. I have recommended this property to a few people who also are happy.

Needs some work to be done

  • 3 of 5

It is nice house, but needs some renovation: lower lever (game room). The carpet is pretty old and smelly. Especially during cold and rainy nights, when windows have to be closed. Bathroom is smelly as well.

Also ‘the 5th bedroom’ at the same lower level is basically utility room with the curtain separating bed and water heater and I guess some kind of hot tub filtering motor, that produced constant noise making it not possible to sleep. Conclusion: that is a 4 BEDROOM house ! not 5

All of the rest is pretty much as described !!!

Owner's Response: We are very committed to the comfort of our renters. The downstairs area is partially underground and therefore subject to odors on very damp days when heat or air conditioning is not needed. This particular weekend was rainy and mild. There were 2 dehumidifiers in the downstairs area which help considerably with any moisture related odor problem. We’re wondering if they were used during this rental or possibly turned off. We have since had all the carpets in the house cleaned, including the downstairs carpet. Also, we have installed a high quality air purifier which is quiet and effective. Our plan is to replace the downstairs carpet in the fall of 2015 with flooring that will not absorb odors. All hot tubs make a very low cycling noise as the motor turns on and off to keep the water heated and clean. It is barely noticeable. The motor is attached to the hot tub and is not in the described bedroom. In the 12 years of our owning and renting our home, we have not had another complaint about this noise. Our home was originally designed with 4 bedrooms. However, we did have enough space on the lower level to make a 5th bedroom. This room has a queen sized bed, 2 end tables with lamps, a closet, chair and a window. It is adjacent to a bathroom and the game room. The people who rent with us seem fine with it and we have quite a few people coming back year after year. We are continually updating and upgrading our home to improve its desirability and comfort. During the past 2-3 years, the following improvements have been made : central air conditioning, several new exterior doors, some new ceiling fixtures, a new leather sectional and new coffee table, both in the lower level, new dining room chairs, new flooring on the main living area and 2 beds were replaced with high quality queen sized platform beds. We have been in the process of converting blinds to insulated curtains. The ones in the bedrooms will be blackout so that our guests can sleep late while on their vacation. We are also constantly replacing smaller items like blankets, pillows and their covers, mattress covers, bedspreads, chair pads, etc. Similarly, we are very vigilant about maintaining our home. Our handyman, Glen, has done a terrific job over the years in keeping everything in good working order. Likewise, our cleaning people, Diane and Paul, do a thorough job after each rental to make sure that the house is ready for the next renter.

Birthday Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I realize this review is very after the fact, however my guests & I have raved about the experience to everyone--and I know how much the reviews on this site helped us to make a decision--so here I am!

I contacted the homeowner via email after reading about them on They replied within 6 hours & to my delight they had our dates available. The rates were VERY reasonable & I did QUITE a bit of research beforehand. I was planning a weekend getaway for my boyfriend's birthday with 12 of our closest friends. Location was very important for us. Half of us were coming form Philadelphia & the other half from the NYC/CT area so it needed to be easily accessible. The property was located in a lovely gated community and although a couple of us got lost along the way, I'm not convinced it was because it was hard to get to (google maps was spot on!)

You should note the the one aspect they are very strict about is WHO is coming. They require the name, address, & phone number of each guest prior to Check In. The Security Guard at the front gate checked the ID of each passenger in each car. If your name was not on the list, you weren't getting in (which thankfully wasn't an issue for us!) We felt very safe knowing they had this level of security!

Check in time was 4pm Friday & Check out was 1pm Sunday. I asked if it was OK to check out later on Sunday so we could enjoy more of the day and they graciously obliged since there was no one coming in on Monday. This was really helpful! They have a cleaning crew that cleans both the house and the hot tub in between each rental which was included in the cost. There was a security deposit ($500) which they returned, as explained, about a week or two after our stay. The house had just about every amenity we could ask for--including what was most important to me, a stocked kitchen! By this I mean pots, pans, dishes, etc. We, of course, were responsible for bringing our own food, personal items, linens, and towels.

Although the space is a little dated, it has all of the features of the perfect rental property. The views were STUNNING! We've all talked about going back on a weekend when there isn't 2ft. of snow so that we can enjoy the lake which is right out the back door! The hot tub, BBQ grill, and fireplace were absolutely the highlight of the weekend. The homeowners were very accommodating and always responded to my emails timely. I would absolutely recommend them & their property!! A++
