This improvement should make the most discriminating chef happy. We have Fiesta Ware plates and serving platters with lots of silverware to compliment the table.

About The Owner

We have always enjoyed Lake Tahoe even before we had children. Now we have 4 adult children that grew up coming to the lake and creating wonderful memories at our Charney Chalet! The whole family enjoys visiting for all seasons. In the winter, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows and Northstar are all within 15 -20 minutes from our home. There is great hiking right out our door or not far away. We love to travel with our dog and that is why we extend that to our guests. Dogs love Lake Tahoe as much as their other family members. We have shown you some of the nearby hiking trails on the map.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Carnelian Bay

We have visited many areas of the Lake Tahoe region. We enjoy the north shore because it is less hectic and less influenced by the south shore casinos. Agate Bay is a very special place with a community pool and tennis courts. It is so quiet, that on a busy 4th of July weekend, in Agate Bay, you would not even know it was so busy several miles away in Kings Beach and Tahoe City. We are located on a quiet street with underground utility wires that sits across the street from nature conservancy land. We offer our home for you to enjoy Lake Tahoe and Agate Bay.

What makes this house unique

We love spending time with our family and extended family sitting on our deck during the summer. Our lot is 1/3 acre so there is a sense of privacy, peacefulness and quiet. Our street has underground utility wires and our wooded surroundings makes for an amazing getaway feeling, while knowing that we can cook a gourmet meal or a quick snack in our new kitchen just back inside our french doors. Our home is big enough to come together in the great room for meals, hanging out, watching a movie, or playing games. Our home also allows room for privacy in the many well-appointed bedrooms and bonus room. All of our furnishing and amenities are new and it does not feel like a rental home but our home away from home. In the winter, our home is easily warmed up with our wood-burning stove or our central heater. There is a lot of room outside to play and sled. The NEW hot tub is four steps from the french doors off the great room, so getting there year round is a luxurious opportunity.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so very much for allowing us to stay in your fabulous home! Snuggling up by the fire, sipping hot chocolate (let's be honest... wine, too) and talking/ reconnecting with family and friends. Each room lovingly prepared by all of you. You have thought of every detail and anticipated every need. We can't wait to return!!

Oscar weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our second time back, this house fit all of us comfortably and had room for the kids to play games and the adults to watch the Oscars. The highlight was being in the hot tub in the midst of a snowstorm...soaking away all aches and pains at a perfect 104 degrees. There was so much snow on the back deck, the kids even built a snow tunnel. Thank you for sharing your Tahoe house with us...we will be back!

We were two families with kids, and the layout offered a great mix of privacy and cozy shared space. Well stocked kitchen, toy cabinet and movie vault - you feel "at home" here. The large and comfy common area with fireplace and easy access to the hot tub made for great evenings together after long days in the snow. The location is convenient to town, the lake, sledding, and skiing. Highly recommended!

Perfect Winter Cabin

  • 5 of 5

If you want to stay in the North Shore of Tahoe so your close to all the resorts look no further. the cabin is close to Alpine, Squaw, and Northstar resorts. This cabin is perfect for all a family trip to the snow and is pet friendly also. They stock all the necessary amenities that you'll need in a cabin. Neighborhood is quiet and cozy with lots of neighbors walking their dogs. It's also really close to Safeway and Starbucks. Thank you Charney family for having a great cabin! Next time we'll maybe try and stay up there during the summer.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you had a wonderful time. We are a family of skiers and we love our "inbetween" location to Northstar, Squaw and Alpine. We are a dog family and all our dogs have enjoyed the Lake Tahoe area over the many years we have vacationed there. We like to share that opportunity with our guests as well. We figure our guests that have dogs are responsible dog owners that love their pet and will be respectful to our home. It is such a lovely vacation to include your dog. Our home is in a quiet, wooded neighborhood with the occasional friendly person walking their dog. We are always stocking our kitchen with paper towels, napkins, saran wrap, foil, many spices, cooking oils, tea and coffee, sugar, brown sugar, salt, pepper and flour. This helps our guests with their cooking needs and we are happy to provide these items best we can. We certainly hope you return in the summer as many of our guests choose our home for all seasons!

Great Family Place!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house- it's the perfect Tahoe getaway! It is very cozy and comfortable and in a great neighborhood. There is plenty of room to sit and relax by the great fireplace, read, watch TV, and play cards/games. It feels like home. The kitchen is well stocked and perfect for cooking meals. It has wonderful views from all the windows- lots of trees and very private. The beds are all very comfortable and cozy and the bedding is nice quality. The neighborhood is perfect for long walks, and there's a trail right up the street for hiking. It's close to everything- skiing, hiking, grocery stores, restaurants, and shops- and the lake is just down the street (about 5 blocks). The owners are very friendly and helpful and I would definitely recommend this property- it is one of our favorites! This is the perfect place for a family vacation and we will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: We are so grateful for your descriptive feedback. Since we visit our home frequently with our family, we have created a retreat that puts us in a very relaxed feeling surrounded by the wooded neighborhood we enjoy very much. We love our great room as well. Everyone can be together, playing games, reading and fixing meals with our large fireplace as a focal point. Our fully stocked kitchen is a must for any vacation home away from home. We strive to make it easier for our guests for cooking meals together. We enjoy our quiet neighborhood, too, and walking to the lake or to the trails available within walking distance is such a lovely bonus. North Lake Tahoe is quieter and beautiful, however, has amenities nearby in King's Beach and Tahoe City. Our cleaning staff and hot tub service are wonderful and create a clean arrival for every new guest family. We are glad you found our beds comfortable and linens to your liking. We are thrilled that we have many families that choose our home often for several years now. We are happy to share our Charney Chalet and try to personalize any questions or requests our guests may have.

Clean, cozy Tahoe retreat!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful stay! We are two families with young children. Plenty of sleeping room for all and ample lounging room after being on the slopes all day. Everyone enjoyed the open air kitchen/family/dining rooms which center around a cozy wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked, more so then we've seen at any other property we've rented. The location was perfect! 15 minutes to North Star, 20 minutes to Diamond Peak, minutes from the amenities of King's Beach and Tahoe City. Thank you Charney Family - we'll be back!

Owner's Response: We are so happy that you found our home at Lake Tahoe to your satisfaction and you will return. We have created so many memories together as an extended family with friends sharing the great room that includes the kitchen, dining room, living room with the jacuzzi a few steps from the French doors. We love to ski and then come home to that room with our roaring fire. We always supply the wood for our guests. We are nicely located to the ski resorts and yet it is always nice to come back to the lake that creates so much magic. We look forward to having you as our guests again, like so many of our returning families.

Owner's Response: We are delighted you found our family home, The Charney Chalet, a wonderful place to stay for your Lake Tahoe vacation. We raised our four children at our vacation home and so it seems fitting to save all their quality, fun toys and share them with our guests. We love to cook and be together so we stock our kitchen with all the tools needed. We are glad you enjoyed our location. It’s underground utility wires and the fact that it is adjacent to open space and forest gives its location a very wooded, quiet atmosphere. We are always happy to share our long list of recommended restaurants, activities, etc. We take pride in helping our guests have the best Lake Tahoe vacation possible! We hope you will return as many of our guests do. Happy Holidays.

Our home is located close to any activity you might want in the Lake Tahoe region, yet is on a quiet flat street with no power lines so you really feel like you are in the woods. Our location allows you to avoid the crazy crowds thronging the casinos of the south shore. We are also far enough away from busier Tahoe City (7 miles) that you will truly feel you are in the mountains. But if you want a nice dinner on the lake or to rent a boat, you will not have far to go. You can even avoid going through Tahoe City to arrive at our home by going through Kings Beach. In the winter, downhill skiing is available at more than 10 ski areas within 40 minutes with Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, and Northstar less than 20 minutes away. In the summer, a hike up the hill or a short drive takes you to the Tahoe Rim Trail. Other trails and wilderness are also easily accessible. A large network of trails for mountain biking are right out our door. Enjoy the north shore of Lake Tahoe!
