Overview

Saint James City House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

On the waterfront in historic St. James City, your island retreat is located just minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. Enjoy the laid-back lifestyle while sipping your favorite beverage from the covered deck, drop your fishing line in the Monroe Canal to catch dinner, and sleep in comfort as the waves lap the 60 foot dockage outside your window. Whether you are looking for a stress-free getaway or unique visit to a coastal fishing village, this SW Florida home offers natural beauty and island-style relaxation.

Located at the southern end of Pine Island, a subtropical island with minimal traffic, St. James City, is considered a nature lover’s paradise. Here you can view panoramic sunrises and sunsets, swaying palm trees, and shoreline birds, such as pelicans, egrets, spoonbill, osprey, curlews, and blue herons.

Dock your boat in the back yard for ready access to the waters of Charlotte Harbor, Pine Island Sound, Matlacha Pass Aquatic Preserve and San Carlos Bay. Renown for great fishing, you are a cast away from impressive catches of snook, red fish, trout, sheepshead, mangrove snapper, or tarpon. Full service marinas are nearby for kayak and boat rentals, as well as off-shore charter fishing trips. Explore kayak trails, discover Calusa Indian ruins, or tour outer islands of Sanibel, Captiva, Cayo Costa, Useppa and Cabbage Key for great shelling.

Island offerings also include St. James Community Center activities (yoga to bridge), public library with Internet access, community heated swimming pool with water aerobics classes, bicycle paths, tennis courts, art galleries and boutiques, fraternity lodges (American Legion, Elks, VFW & Moose), churches of all denominations, plus an 18-hole golf course.

Nearby waterfront restaurants offer a variety of food venues, many with nightly, free musical entertainment.

Make plans to spend your carefree vacation at our island home away from the crowds. Appointed with bamboo floors, bead board paneling, and island décor, this home is fully furnished and equipped with central air and heat, full kitchen, color TV, VCR/DVD player, washer & dryer. Bedding, towels, and linens are provided. Just bring your toothbrush and fishing pole!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay here. Slept 6 comfortably. The property was very clean and in a great location! The owner was very friendly and easy to work with. We fished every day and enjoyed a local bar called Froggy's. Woody's has delicious food and you can get there by boat just down the canal!! Overall great place. We would definitely recommend this place to others!

Great Week of Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place to spend week! The home was very clean, comfortable and loved the decorations! Loved being right on Monroe canal and being able to tie the boat up at the back door. The kids also loved being able to fish right off the dock! Loved being able to sit on the back porch in the evenings enjoying the view. The only down fall to the back porch is it is not screened in and this time of the year the florida bugs were terrible! I would recommend this house to anyone who enjoys fishing and being on the water and would stay there again!

June Fishing Trip

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week in early June at this house. Everything was very good. Clean, and well kept up. Tied the boat up at the dock and fished six straight days. Good location, relatively short rides to Sanibel, Redfish Pass, and Boca. Would definitely book this house again. Woody's restaurant across the canal was excellent as well.

Great place to spend the winter. House in great and very clean. Great deck out back that is shaded in the evening so you can relax in comfort. Boats from rubber dingies to huge motor sailers go by within a few dozen feet on the deck. Close to Pine Island Sound and great fishing. Spent three wintder months here in 2009 and are signed up for the same three months in 2010.

St James lives at a slower pace than the rest of the world, with means the residents are going to live longer then the rest of us. Every one is friendly and give us bicylists room on the road.

We loved being right on the canal & hearing early morning fishing boats go out. Caught a lot of fish right outside the back door, including a funny puffer. Didn't miss having a white sand beach nearby since there's so much ocean ambiance all around. The little town of St. James has a laid-back, JimmyBuffetlike feel. Great local smoothies, too. If you're looking for something a little out of the mainstream, you'd like this place.
