About the property

Suite Apartments

This holiday home advert is about 2 units located on the first and second floors of the bulding which are accessible from the rear entrance.

The hamlet is one of the most evocative and inviting areas of Cortina. It is characterised by the timbered houses and the small church of Santa Giuliana. The area is quiet and well connected to the city centre. Good connection to the ski lifts of Faloria and Cristallo: you can reach these ski areas from the chiarlifts of Rio Gere which are just 4,5 km away. The property is located near the curch of Santa Giuliana. It is a typical Ampezzo rural house renovated in the eighties. It has a parking space outside and a beautiful garden in the back home with a nice view on the Pomagagnon. The (ski) bus, which runs every 50 minutes to town, stops 130 m from the house. There are: 2 restaurants within 200 meters, a third one is just 800 m away and 2 paid playgrounds for children about 1 and 2 km away from the house.

About Giovanni

Hey, I’m Giovanni! I am 34 years old but I have been told, I don't look it and I feel young for my age. I like music and playing accordion as often as I can, even if at an amateur level but let's say with (some) dignity. I love the blue sky, good weather, music, photography and travelling. I would like to do many other things but there are only 24 hours in a day but one day I hope to get to do all the things I want to do.. Obviously I love the mountains both in the summer and winter but I prefer it during summer when I can climb up the tracks with my Mountain Bike! Hope to host you soon!

Great accommodation and base for walking

  • 5 of 5

A cosy, characterful, comfortable, clean and well equipped apartment on outskirts of Cortina with great views of mountains. The walking was amazing with great views, interesting plants (still lots of flowers in september), cute marmots and not to forget the mountain refuges where you could stop for a civilised cappucino and strudel! Also did some via ferrata (hiring gear in Cortina). Hope to return as so much more walking to do. Owner was helpful and kindly got us milk as shops all closed on a Sunday (note sunday closing taken seriously in Cortina despite being tourist area!). The only thing slightly wrong on property description was that there was no oven (hob only) and the toaster was a toasted sandwich maker (but who needs toast when you can have italian pastries!).

Owner's Response: Hello Liz, thank you for your review and remarks! I checked the advertisment and removed the oven in the description of both Suite. I really don't know why I wrote it, sorry about this issue. About the toaster you are also right as it is actually a toasted sandwich maker. I bought it as I thought it was easier to clean and I did not consider its not the best choiche for breakfast. I hope to host you again! be well, Giovanni

Amazing location & place!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic gem in Cortina! We were greeted upon arrival by the owner & given lots of helpful information about the local area & hikes. The apartment is very clean, quaint & had everything we needed. It is so close to everything in town & a short drive to lots of trailheads. We loved our stay & hope to revisit!!

Perfect base for self-catering stay in Cortina

  • 5 of 5

Attractive, clean, well-designed compact holiday apartment in traditional chalet on quiet rural side-road on outskirts of Cortina. Perfect for 2 people though more could squeeze in with sofa bed. Picnic table surrounded by wild flower meadow with stunning 360 degree view of Dolomites. Very helpful and friendly manager (Giovanni). Bathroom and cooking facilities excellent - latter especially important as in early June few eating places had opened for the summer season. Did 2 great hikes direct from the apartment, others just a short drive to well-organised car parks and trails. Gentians and Ladies' Slipper orchids were blooming!

amazing stay with great hospitality and welcome!

  • 5 of 5

We want to say to Govanni that the stay was amazing for the hospitality and the warm welcome. He was very friendly, always willing to help and explain anything. We are also very happy with the apartament: not too big but for 2 people it was perfect and cosy.It is in a very beautiful place near a little town (7 minutes by bus) and with mountins all around. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend Cortina and this apartment.

Easy communication and wonderful hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

Giovanni was the best host we've had. From the very beginning, he was easy to communicate to and eager to give us recommendations around Cortina. When we arrived, he met us at the bus stop and drove us to the apartment. After a tour of the place, he pointed to a map on the kitchen table various hikes that he recommended, and even inquired about rental cars for us during our stay. We ended up hiking Lagazuoi with Giovanni, and had a wonderful day exploring the WWI tunnels and "offroading" from some of the trails. He is a cheery individual and awesome company! The apartment itself is about a 20 min walk uphill from town, which for us was fine. We loved picking up basic groceries from La Coopertiva and using Giovanni's well-stocked kitchen to whip up an easy dinner. Overall, we had a great stay, made even better by Giovanni's wonderful hospitality. We'll be back another year for the winter season!

Cortina d'Ampezzo, the 'Queen of the Dolomites' is the most famous winter ski resort in Italy. It hosted the 1956 winter olympics and todays it is renowned for hosting international sports events centered around the mountains and winter sports. The Valley of Ampezzo is surrounded by the Dolomites which were declared a World Natural Heritage site on 26th June 2009 in Seville from the UNESCO committee. Summer tourism offers a broad set of activities almost wider than in winter. The Ampezzo valley is one of the most sought-after locations by all the enthusiastic Mountaineering. It offers in fact a great number of tracks of any degree of length and difficulty. From a simple walk in the woods to the iron paths on the bare rock hundreds of meters above the ground as well as hikes/excursions by walk or by bike.

Alpine skiing --- There are 65 ski slopes for a total of 115 km. They are served by 38 ski lifts of which 4 cablecars, over 20 chair lifts and about 10 drag lifts. Except for the Falzarego Pass cablecar and the Mietres chiarlifts in every ski area the ski lifts are connected by the skis on feet. These are the ski areas in Ampezzo.

* Ski area Tofane (Socrepes-Pocol-Tofana) : 31 ski slopes (13 easy, 12 medium, 6 difficult) for a total of 42 km, 13 ski lifts

* Ski area Falzarego (Col Gallina 5 Torri e Lagazuoi) : 11 ski slopes (6 easy, 5 medium) altogether 29 km long

* Ski area Cortina Cube (Mietres - Cristallo - Faloria) : 24 ski slopes (8 easy, 11 medium, 5 difficult) for 44 km in total, 13 ski lifts

Nordic ski --- the reference point for cross country skiing is the Fiames Sport Nordic Center (48 km of ski tracks). The cross country skiing track at the Tre Croci Pass (10 km at an altitude of 1.800 m) suitable for expert skiers which also offers various detours and track lengths.

Snowboard --- Pocol and Socrepes are the ideal pistes for novices, while those who want to test their skills with jumps and breathtaking drops can head to 5 Torri and Faloria. Winter 2010 saw the opening of the Cortina Snowpark, in the Socrepes area (San Zan slope) of the 'Tofane'. 500 metres long and serviced by a four-seater chairlift, it is divided into two areas with different levels of difficulty: the Easy Line is for beginners and the Medium Line for experienced snowboarders.

Ice skating --- the historic 'Stadio Olimpico' open both dring the summer and the winter has a 30 x 60 m refrigerated skating rink, bar service, skating instructors, solarium and playground for children.

Iron paths --- over 22 iron paths and 15560 m among equipped trails and fixed rope routes

Free climbing and dedicated climbing areas --- 6 peaks over 3000 m, 850 climbing itineraries, 1000 classic and modern climbing routes

Mountain Bike --- 16 signposted and numbered bike routes (2 easy, 4 medium, 10 difficult). 250km at all. 5 service centres throughout the town

Tennis --- Tennis Country Club (5 outdoor clay courts, 1 of them with lighting for night matches), Stadio Apollonio (5 outdoor and 1 indoor court open all over the year). Other tennis facilities include courts at the Franceschi Park Hotel, the Sporting Hotel Villa Blu and the Circolo Golf Miramonti.

Golf --- Cortina Golf (it currently has 9 holes but aims to double, upon a ready-to-carry-out project, this offers and joins with the 18 holes of the great international golf circuits). Circolo Golf Miramonti (6 holes).
