Hale Moana, House of the Sea, is our ocean front home on the beautiful rural North Shore of Oahu. A flight of 10 sturdy steps takes you from our grassy lawn to the lovely beach. The ever-changing, half-mile-long beach is perfect for exploring, swimming, snorkeling and stand up paddling (SUP) in the summer. Scenes from TV shows and movies are often filmed on our photogenic beach. In the winter there is excellent big wave surfing just steps away at Alligators and Chun's Reef surfing breaks. We invite you to enjoy a front row seat to spectacular sunsets reflected in the waves. Our vacation rental home is licensed by the City and County of Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting (since 1987).
All rooms have ocean views and are beautifully decorated Hawaiian style. The home sleeps four to six guests. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and two twin beds in the second bedroom can be converted into one king-sized bed. The den/TV room has a queen-sized sofa bed (queen size Aero-Bed also available). Main bathroom has separate shower and bathtub. An additional shower, toilet and basin is located in the garage. The garage shower is convenient when coming in from the beach. Cooking is a pleasure in the ocean view kitchen with glass cabinet doors, ceramic stove top and Corian countertops. Connect your laptop and mobile devices with our wireless broadband. For added relaxation the library provides many book choices. The flat screen TV has HD cable channels, including HBO, ESPN, an HD-DVR and a DVD player and library.
The beautifully landscaped yard is great for sunbathing, barbecuing, sunset watching and turtle spotting. In season, 'Honu', Hawaiian green sea turtles, dolphins, whales and sometimes monk seals are spotted from our yard and beach.
Nearby Historic Haleiwa town has surf and clothing shops, art galleries and wonderful restaurants. World famous Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Banzai Pipeline are nearby. Visit Hawaii's Number One visitor attraction, the Polynesian Cultural Center. Everything has been thought of to make your vacation stay at Hale Moana relaxing and memorable.
The North Shore is known world wide for its dramatic winter surf. Be aware that swimming in most places during big wave season is best left to experts and children should be closely supervised. Also note that the beach sand levels vary significantly at the whim of surf and tide. In the winter, when the big waves are breaking, put your feet up on our wall and watch the spectacular surfing show. There is great snorkeling and swimming at our beach in the summer.
Our fenced and tree lined property is set between the road and the sea. Our guests find that the sights and sounds of the ocean easily win their attention and hearts. Please check out many years of favorable guest comments at our website at “beachhawaii dot com”.
This was a family vacation for my husband and I and out twenty-something sons and their girlfriend/spouse. As soon as I walked through the front door and was magnetically drawn to the back yard I actually got teary eyed at the beauty and the realization that were were finally there! I was so excited to have our family together, and we spent many moments sitting in the yard or on the beach just talking and laughing together; the memories that were created that week will last a lifetime. Within our first hour there, we spotted a turtle swimming just in front of the house.
The location is perfect, close to grocery shopping, snorkeling, Haleiwa, Waimea Bay and Valley; and the food trucks. The house is perfect, exactly as described and more. It is fully stocked with everything that you could want or need, from the kitchen, the back yard and all the beach accessories, even a bbq, and surf boards. Although we were there during a week with considerable humidity the rooms were always cooled by the ocean breezes and we always slept comfortably. And whatever you do, take Sandra's tip to a not so well known about beach up the road a way to view turtles (see Hale Moana House Book on the desk for info) the beach is stunning and we saw many turtles swimming along the shore.
We really did not have to travel far for an adventure. Although the twenty-somethings did want to go to Waikiki to experience the city and nightlife/excitement and once there we all agreed that we preferred the North Shore. My husband was experiencing some back pain/troubles prior to our trip so we did have to change some of our plans. But Waimea Valley is an easy walk to the falls and you still get a feeling for the inland tropical experience of the island. We also went to Kaena Point and walked the trail for a few miles to the "hidden beach" which was a beautiful day and easy walk.
One week is not enough and we definitely could have spent another week there, allowing us more time to lounge around the house. I will surely miss the mornings spent drinking coffee outside overlooking the beach with my husband. And most memorable of all, our son proposed to his girlfriend on the beach it was magical!
Hale Moana has something for everyone!!!
We will be back! Mahalo!
We stayed at Hale Moana for 10 glorious days to celebrate my 50th Birthday with friends and family. We planned this trip for well over a year and had looked at the website for Hale Moana on an almost daily basis leading up to the trip because we were so excited. Sometimes in the past when we've planned that far ahead and been that excited, we've been let down because the reality could never meet the fantasy. Hale Moana was everything we'd hoped for and more! The location is hands down the best part of the experience. We had so many things planned for our time on Oahu, but often we just couldn't tear ourselves away from the wonderful home, yard, and amazing view. We didn't get to see some parts of the island we wanted, but time spent either sitting quietly on the lawn, watching the magic of the ocean, or laughing with friends and famly, it was a recharge of our "mana" in so many ways!
> The house is very well appointed with everything from a crock pot, rice cooker, to awesome beach chairs! It's close to the grocery store, wonderful beaches, and quaint Haleiwa town.
> Mahalo nui loa to Sandra for sharing her lovely Hale with us. We will be back!
the house was beautiful!! Soon as you step inside you hear the sound of the ocean! The house is very, very clean. We have gone to many other beach house rentals and by far this is the cleanest one we have been to. We even let a baby crawl around in the house! The location is very good. It's not too far from Honolulu, yet you still get the feeling of getting away from all the hustle and bustle of the city area. Sandi was great. Very informative and response time is excellent! We hope to return to again soon!
My husband and I went for our1st anniversary and we were greeted with a card from the owner of the house! Such a beautiful home to stay in, we loved the yard and the beach access. We also found so much great information left in the tourist books we found a little known beach not far from the house full of sea turtles. We love staying in the North Shore when we come to Oahu and this was the perfect house for us. We were able to cook or eat out depending on our mood and so many activities are within 30 minutes of the house. We visited the Dole Plantation, a nut Plantation and a huge Farm where they filmed Jurassic Park. We couldn't have picked a better house~
My family and I absolutely enjoyed our time at this house and our first time to Oahu. The descriptions and pictures where dead on including the proximaty to the beach. Everything was clean and neat and ready for use as soon as we arrived. The location is perfect for little day excursions on the north shore, or heading into honolulu for other activities.
While the house did get a little warm in the afternoon, even opened up, we didn't spend much time in the house, but sitting in back on one of the chairs overlooking the beach and ocean. Weather reading, or watching the turtles feed on the rocks just below us. The house and kitchen had everything we needed as well as beach chairs, snorkel gear, coolers, boogie boards and more.
I would definately try 'Impossibles Pizza' food truck. Huge and DELICOUS pizza. And the kids fell in love with 'Matsumoto' shaved ice.
Sandra was incredible to work with and quite well organized. Very friendly and inviting.
Will definately look at renting this house again the next time we come to Oahu. Very much recommend.
We absolutely loved this beautiful getaway! It was so beautiful! We got married right on the beach and it was the most intimate and beautiful place I have seen. We loved the quiet beach and the nice beach at waimea too! Just 5 minutes away. The waterfall at waimea was spectacular! The town of Haleiwa was so quaint and the restaurant haleiwa joes was a great find. We never even turned the tv on since we had that great view of the ocean to sit by and relax at night. The house was more than we could have asked for with the spectacular view and all it had to offer! Look at the pictures and wish we were back there already!
