What makes this cabin unique

The River House is the best location in proximity to views, and the river that I have ever seen in Ashford. You can even see the tip top of Mt. Rainier. The entire Tatoosh range spreads out in front of you and makes for a spectacular view. The real gem is being right on the banks of the River. Just upstream 100 yards is the confluence with Copper Creek. The branch of the river that runs in front of the house is gentle enough for the kids to play in. You can easily walk down the banks of the river bed to the main part of the river, which is much wilder. This is the perfect place to spend a few day reconnecting with nature for both kids and adults. The property includes two extra lots on the river, so you can explore down the river as far as you like.

Wonderful cottage with great access to Mt. Rainier National Park. My husband and I stayed here with our 2 year old for three nights and had a great time! The kitchen has everything you need including an outdoor gas grill. We stopped at Pike's Place Market in Seattle before we drove down here so brought fresh salmon and scallops to make on the grill; delicious! The deck has nice built in seating. We also enjoyed watching the stars from the hot tub every night as well as the firepit. My son spent hours exploring the river; great views, very quiet. We had a fire in the woodstove one night as well as it was starting to get cool at night. Children's books and toys were provided. Everything in the house was clean and in good working order. Communication with the owner was great. I would highly recommend this as a home base for MRNP. Stop at the Wildberry Restaurant for dinner; interesting blend of American and Nepalese food with amazing blackberry pie!

Comfortable Cabin, Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

We (two families with young children) loved our stay at the River House. The location is great -- we were able to hit the MRNP trails early and then spend our late afternoons/early evenings on the deck and exploring the river near the property. It was HOT when we stayed (close to 100 degrees every day), but the deck gets great shade in the afternoons and with the windows open and ceiling fan going, we were very comfortable at night. The view from the cabin is lovely, and it was so soothing to hear the sound of the Nisqually River nearby. Inside, the home is clean, comfortable, well-appointed, and kid-friendly. Highly recommended!

Wonderful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

The River House is a wonderful property that is much more spacious than the pics show. Our family enjoyed the cozy sofas & hot tub in between visits to MRNP. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate with our hopes to see Mt. Rainier but we enjoyed our time all the same. Skyline trail hike at Paradise was a gorgeous hike even on a cloudy day. Our boys loved exploring the property and skipping rocks at the river. Copper Creek Inn was a great stop for dinner - be sure to splurge on the fresh blackberry pie! We'll definitely return to The River House if we return to MRNP!

Tranquil Setting and Breathtaking Beauty

  • 5 of 5

We completely fell in love with this cozy charming cabin the moment we drove up. We stayed for five nights and my girlfriend had to drag me off when it was time to go. The location is perfect. Everything was perfect. We opened all the windows so the gorgeous sound of the river floated in with the breeze. The kitchen is huge and every item we needed was provided to make breakfast and dinner every day. The beds are so comfortable. We each had our own room and we had lots of room. So quiet and serene. There is a new grill which was wonderful. The hot tub was absolutely splendid to have after 8-10 hours on the trails. We spent every evening making a fire in the fire circle while watching the shadows play across the mountains and gazing at the night sky unobstructed by any light. Mount Rainier is the most beautiful mountain in the lower 48. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! So happy we found it. Thank you very much Tammi for sharing your lovely cabin and yard with us. We will be back.

P.S. Ashford is a wonderful little town. Visit the general store. The first day we stopped there for firewood. The next morning Julia realized she had dropped her wallet while we piled firewood in the jeep. We ran up to the general store and started to ask when the man behind the counter smiled and handed it to her. A local had found her wallet and turned it in. We cried we were so relived. These good fine people saved our trip.

Amazing experiences. The mountain has magic!!

The Riverhouse

  • 5 of 5

A clean, comfy house surrounded by gorgeous mountains and the river. Very peaceful and relaxing. The house is well stocked with blankets, games and firewood. The kitchen is perfect for family dining. Next time we'll come when it's a little less stormy so we can enjoy the great porch and hot tub. Thanks!

Hot Tub Heaven

  • 5 of 5

After hiking around Mt. Rainer all day, the best part was being able to soak in the hot tub while watching the stars at night. The view from the back porch was awe-inspiring, surrounded by mountains. The location of the cabin is off the highway and was very quiet, with lots of privacy. The cabin is very clean and modern, with many amenities that make the stay comfortable.
