Schoodic Scenic Byway: The Schoodic Scenic Byway travels through one of the last frontiers on the eastern seaboard (along Route 1 and 186 from Sullivan to Prospect Harbor). This region has many protected and private lands that are maintained as open space and agriculture to reveal an unspoiled and 'real' Maine. Pass through a working landscape of lobstering, clamming, blueberry barons and timberland.

Schoodic Peninsula Bike Tour: Loops take cyclists through the easternmost reaches of Acadia National Park at beautiful Schoodic Point, as well as through picturesque fishing villages and along a dramatic stretch of Maine’s rocky coast. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at the point andenjoy spectacular views of Mount Desert Island and Frenchman Bay along the way.

The 29-mile loop begins at the Schoodic Area Chamber of Commercekiosk on US 1 opposite Young’s Market in West Gouldsboro. The13-mile loop begins in Winter Harbor.

Perfect for our family!

  • 5 of 5

The Eagle View Cottage was perfect for our stay in Maine! It took about 45min to get to where we wanted on the Island so if you plan to be there every day of your stay you will be driving a little extra but it was only 25min to Schoodic point which was one of our favorite spots. The cabin was exactly what we needed and with a 1 year old there was a pack and play and rocking chairs for use that were very helpful for our family! We really enjoyed having the fire place for evening fires and the waterfront was beautiful! We were excited our first morning to see a seal come into the cove! The property owner was also very helpful and easy to work with. I would recommend this location and would love to stay again!

Beautiful Scenery

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful vacation at Eagleview Cottage. Reserving and booking was easy. My family of four with two young children (4 and 6) stayed here with my sister's family of four with two teenagers (13 and 16). All 8 of us had a fantastic time. The house is charming, roomy and cozy. The kitchen has every utensil and appliance you could want. There are three different outdoor areas to dine and we loved the firepit! Easy to get wood at the gas station right down the street. The views are absolutely spectacular. We could even see a cruise ship heading into what we thought was Bar Harbor. And to top it off, the kids picked fresh blackberries off of the bushes in the backyard.

We had a great time exploring the area...Schoodic Point is very close and while it was foggy the day we went it was still beautiful and not at all crowded. The main section of Acadia is a 45 minute drive. We went to the park almost everyday because we had to cut our week short for a family wedding. The drive does get long but there are so many cute places to stop and eat and shop along the way. We loved our trip to Maine and will never forget our "Maine House". Thank you Tony!!

Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5

Eagle View was a perfect location for our family gathering for a week long visit to Acadia and the surrounding area. Sitting on the decks each afternoon watching the sunsets and tide changes was the perfect end to fun filled days. The house overlooks Mt. Desert Island with its spectacular ever changing views.

Tony had outfitted the house for comfort and I t was perfect for our family of 9 ( including bunk beds for the grandkids). His "local info" book is packed full of ideas and suggestions to make your visit even better. The kitchen is outfitted with everything you could possibly need from lobster cooking items to even "s'mores" stainless steel skewers for roasting over the outside fire pit.

The Schoodic peninsula is packed full of great local seafood restaurants and spectacular scenery. When looking for a central location to explore the Acadia area, Eagle View couldn't have been more perfect. Thanks Tony!

Great time

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was great for a small family. Bring a sleeping mask if you have one it gets very bright very early up there. The bugs were our main concern and they were really not an issue. Maine is so beautiful and well worth experiencing. The people were all really great also. We kayaked around hog island and we had the whole cove to ourselves. Very nice and private, close enough to Acadia and other sights. Great experience! Tony's planner had great information and he was a great host.

Just Awesome!

Owner's Response: Leah: Thank you for your wonderful review. Yes, the sun does come up early on Downeast Maine. Actually, Cadillac Mountain on MDI gets the first sunlight of the day and hearty souls sometime venture there to see the sun rise. Too early for me! Sunsets on Cadillac are also beautiful and I have done that. I’m glad you found the planner useful, many guest have. While some like to plan their own adventures, many are not familiar with the area and the planner help to save time. Thank again!
