The entire house is offered and is approximately 750 square feet (70 square meters), with private entrance, ground floor and three floors above.
You will appreciate the comfort of this home during your stay in Amsterdam. It is ideal for a couple or small family. The house is totally furnished, with two bedrooms (one bedroom can be configured to provide either two twin beds or one queen-size bed), a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, dining room, living room, terrace, full bath with tub and two WC's. Other amenities include CableTV/DVD, Internet ADSL/wifi, and washer and dryer. For your safety the Poppenhuis is a non-smoking environment.
This home is located steps from the most beautiful canals in Amsterdam. Amsterdam's Centraal Station is a short fifteen minute walk or just minutes away by tram or bus.
Our property is registered with the City of Amsterdam as a short term stay property.
Very nice 4-level home in the beautiful Jordaan area. Cozy pubs and multiple good restaurants nearby as well as a great coffee house. The Afghan restaurant across the street (Manto) was our favorite dining experience while in Amsterdam - unique and absolutely delicious. The owner of property was very pleasant to work with. The steep stairs were a little tricky, but we took our time going up and down. I highly recommend this rental home.
My wife and I and our two young children stayed here for 4 days this spring. The house was excellent. It was a great size for the family, had all the amenities we needed including the kitchen and laundry facilities. The location couldn't be better. It's about a 10 minute walk from Dam square, right around the corner from Anne Frank house, close to tram stops, but in a great, quiet neighbourhood. Rick was excellent to meet upon our arrival and his recommendation of the Afghan restaurant across the street was spot on! They even brought the food over for us since the kids had gone to bed. If we ever get back to Amsterdam, I'll be looking to stay here again.
My family (wife and two teenage daughters) and I stayed in here for six nights. The place is clean, comfortable, safe, and I think is actually bigger than it looks in the pictures. The location cannot be better. For those with Rick Steve's Amsterdam book, it is on his "walk through Jordan" tour just down from the Electric Ladyland (worth the visit although I didn't expect it to be). The street is quiet with an excellent Afghani restaurant just across the street and another excellent restaurant down the street called De Reiger (and recommended in Rick Steve's book, although we didn't know that until after we ate there.) The house is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Anne Frank House and the tram stops (the easiest way to get around town for the tired tourist).
The house was redone not too long ago, so the stove, dishwasher, and the kitchen ware are all like new. It also has a washer and dryer that either isn't advertised or I missed it when booking, so that was a nice surprise.
Rick was very welcoming and waited for us to arrive even though we were delayed due to traffic and wrong turns. He showed us around the house; pointed out the nearby restaurants, pubs, and the quickest way to tram stops; gave us information on his favorite Indonesian restaurant (try to make time for it); and arranged for a taxi to the airport (for four, it is about the same cost as public transportation) when it was time to leave. He was available for questions during the week, if necessary. He even mailed my daughter's lanyard that she left to us in the US.
I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay.
This was my first trip to Europe and first time booking a home overseas. It couldn't have gone more smoothly. Prompt answers to my questions, met personally upon arrival and welcomed. Home was clean and was exactly like the pictures shown on their website. The first flight up was steep, but we found it part of the charm. The Jordaan area is perfect. You can walk everywhere with lovely shops, restaurants and cafes close by. You can feel confident that your questions will be answered and you will be happy with this home. I would not hesitate to recommend this rental to anyone.
Once again, I was very happy to spend a few days in this lovely house. The location is perfect and the house itself is comfortable and very well equipped.
Loved this house, its location, and the owner, Tony's, really accommodating and helpful personality! The stairs were challenging, but really well set up with treads and solid handrails. We joked that the first stairway from ground level to living room was a ladder ;) once you get used to the fact that only half your foot really makes it onto the sliver of a step, you start to get comfortable with it. And Rick, the manager, was so kind as to carry my largest bag up those first steps! What a great help! We stayed a week and we're thrilled with the location. It was about 3 blocks from the tram which was fast and reliable. We ate twice in Tony's favorite neighborhood restaurant, Cafe Reiger, it was so good! The bathroom on the ground level was a wonderful convenience. The kitchen and washer dryer and dishwasher were the best conveniences, and the lovely master bedroom on the top floor was sun-filled every morning. Lovely! Thank you, Tony, for a lovely stay!
