The house has an open-plan sitting room, dining room and TV room leading out onto a covered verandah and plunge pool. Pool loungers are provided. Free wi-fi and free satellite TV are connected.
An open fireplace creates a warm ambience in the evenings. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped and the scullery includes a dishwasher for convenience.
All three bedrooms are en suite with bath and shower. There is under carpet heating for warmth in winter. Both bedrooms have 2 single beds but one of them has a mattress converter and bedding to create a king size bed, if preferred. The main bedroom and bathroom have sweeping sea views, even from the bed, which is king size.
There is a remote-controlled lock-up garage for one vehicle under the house with direct access to the house.
The house has a burglar alarm and is monitored by a security company.

We built this home as we fell in love with the village of Scarborough and bought the piece of land several years ago. We used to drive to Scarborough over the weekend and have picnics on the beach, often watching the sunsets. It is a restful place which restores the soul. Because Scarborough is surrounded by the Cape Point Nature Reserve, it cannot be developed and so it is un commercialised.
A visitor will enjoy the easy access to other parts of the city and the many outings close by without spending any time sitting in traffic which can often be frustrating in holiday season in some parts of the city.
Guests say that they feel secure in this safe eco-village.
The most striking feature of this area of Scarborough is the clear, melodic sound of the ocean which travels upwards to the mountains. It is a very restful sound. The house is in a corner of the village which has virtually no passing vehicles. A visitor will enjoy sitting on the verandah with a cup of tea and gazing out to sea.
Our family spent Christmas at Ocean's Horizons and had the best week and a half! It was so nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The house is close enough to lots of tourist attractions but far enough away to feel relaxing! We loved our stay and are excited to go back in the future! The owners were so helpful and easy to work with-LOVED OUR VACATION! 😀
An absolute dream house with beautiful sea view! My husband and I had the whole place to ourselves and made us feel at home.
We chose the month of March 2015, the perfect time to visit Cape Town and the surrounding area. Before our trip, we had close contact with the owners by e-mail. Consistently helpful and nice people. The description of the house exceeded our expectations. We could feel very safe because a security was in the village and the house was secured alarm . But even so there was no danger to be feared. Someone who is looking for peace and relaxation , this is the right place . We would return again at any time in this little paradise .
Well, what can I say? Ocean's Horizon is an absolutely gorgeous house. Like a great painting, the house will mean different things to different people. Each person will find an enduring aspect of this property. The house is designed to appeal to both children and adults. It is particularly suited to a family holiday.
Our family of 5 have fallen in love with this property and it will always occupy a special place in our hearts. The architecture of the property is stunning. The photos on the website do not do the house justice. The house is modern and has lots of character. The functionality of the building is only surpassed by its comfort. The furnishings are stylish with a distinctive ocean theme.
All rooms have a well equipped ensuite with a shower and bath. The master bedroom features a lovely Jacuzzi style bathtub, with great views of the Atlantic ocean. All rooms also have their own balconies, which we enjoyed on the hot evenings.
Ocean's Horizon is lovely for entertaining, with two lounges and two dining areas on the same open-plan level as the kitchen, as well as a large veranda and pool. Great for braais, home cooking and sun downers. The kitchen is well equipped with everything a home kitchen god or goddess may require to conjure up a masterpiece. The house benefits from having all appliances necessary for everyday living.
The area is safe and great for children. Our children walked to the nearby shop and restaurant most days. The beach is great for swimming and we enjoyed the wonderful white sanded beaches at Scarborough, as well as up and down the Cape Peninsula. The breath taking views are second to none in this part of the world. Scarborough is the ideal tranquil setting to use as a base to explore the beaches, towns, mountains, wine farms and city in and around Cape Town.
Scarborough is close to a big shopping centre with supermarkets and restaurants, so you are able to stock the house with anything you may want to make your stay as special as you want it.
We were offered the added extra of the use of our very own maid while we stayed at the house, which made washing and ironing of clothes a forgotten chore for the duration of our holiday.
The owners' hospitality was amazing. They made us feel so at home and welcome, and we are very grateful to them for everything they did for us, before, during and after our wonderful stay. Sue & Alex are great hosts and we feel very happy to give their property the highest possible rating.
Ocean's Horizon is the perfect location for a warm, relaxing getaway.
In comparison to the rest of the Cape Town area, Scarborough village is peaceful, quiet and refreshingly underdeveloped. The westward views of the Atlantic Ocean are breathtaking, particularly in the evening. The house is situated at the highest part of the village, a steep walk from the centre (or very short drive). There are two excellent restaurants, both serving freshly-made delicious food as well as a real bakery making bread daily. Scarborough is a community freed from the normal security worries present in Cape Town and its suburbs. In all senses, it is off the beaten track, passed only by people travelling down to the Cape Peninsula National Park or those touring the coastal road. During the week, the beautiful beach is deserted and it's never very much busier at weekends. There are walks and wildlife all around, even a penguin or two.
The house itself was designed and built by the owners. And it is a delightful and first-class place to stay. It is not just a holiday home, but the second home of Sue and Alex and they look after it lovingly and proudly. Indeed, nothing is too much trouble. There is a marvellous feeling of space and light about the place and it is easy to manage the internal temperature throughout the day. In terms of facilities, it has everything one would expect and all of high quality.
There is no swimming pool (just a plunge pool) and getting in and out of the steep drive takes a bit of practice. But those minor considerations aside, we could not fault it. Looking forward to another long stay next year!
Wonderfull week in the wonderfull house, really the best we stay on our one month tour in SA!!!
We are experienced travelers,we use homeexchane program, time to time homeaway, also guest houses or hotels of all categories all around the world, but Scarborough gem is something special!
Very welcoming and accomodating hosts- Sue and Alex- helpfull in all ways and their house is like from the dream.
Very modern, contemporary interier with a interesting art details all around.
So comfy beds and soft linens and sheets, suposed egyptian cotton.
We love the views to die for, not only from the terace and bedroom, but as well from the bathroom.
How great is falling asleep with the sound of the ocean and wake up with the view from your bed???
Just the ocean- you can see, smell and hear- and birds...
And evenings on the terrace with orange african soundowns, and lovely south african wines...,how romantic!!!
House has all you need for a great getaway.
Many thanks, Scarborough house has made our stay in Africa perfect.

The villa is situated in the quiet eco- village of Scarborough at the edge of the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Scarborough is about 45 minutes from Cape Town CBD. Although situated close to the remote tip of the Cape Peninsula, Scarborough nevertheless offers a wide variety of outings, both picturesque and interesting, a short drive away.
The scenic village of Kommetjie, with its lighthouse and popular Long Beach, is 10 minutes away. Scarborough is 15 minutes from the historic naval village of Simonstown and Boulders Beach with its famous penguin colonies. Just down the coast from there are the warm water False Bay beaches of Fish Hoek and Muizenberg.
Recreation activities in Scarborough include surfing, mountain trails and beach walks. A walk along the beach towards Misty Cliffs/ Witsand is truly mesmerising with the turquoise water and fine, white sand.
