Secure Villa in Safe Village, Views Forever over Ocean and White, Sandy Beach
About Susan Mellows
We live in Rondebosch in Cape Town. Sue is an academic at Stellenbosch University researching issues of poverty and inequality. Alex is the managing director of a Sports' Marketing company. We have 3 children, two boys and a girl. Our daughter is still at school and our sons are at the University of Cape Town both studying Medicine.
Susan Mellows purchased this House in 2008
Why Susan Mellows chose Cape Peninsula
We built this home as we fell in love with the village of Scarborough and bought the piece of land several years ago. We used to drive to Scarborough over the weekend and have picnics on the beach, often watching the sunsets. It is a restful place which restores the soul. Because Scarborough is surrounded by the Cape Point Nature Reserve, it cannot be developed and so it is un commercialised.
What makes this House unique
A visitor will enjoy the easy access to other parts of the city and the many outings close by without spending any time sitting in traffic which can often be frustrating in holiday season in some parts of the city. Guests say that they feel secure in this safe eco-village. The most striking feature of this area of Scarborough is the clear, melodic sound of the ocean which travels upwards to the mountains. It is a very restful sound. The house is in a corner of the village which has virtually no passing vehicles. A visitor will enjoy sitting on the verandah with a cup of tea and gazing out to sea.

The owner of this stunning home was the most helpful host of any place we have ever stayed. It was a pleasure planning our trip to Cape Town from Canada with her warm assistance. The photos of the home are completely accurate, it is stunning! Such a perfect area for cycling and ocean walks. The beds and linen were so comfortable. We would love to return to this amazing home!
More than expected, simple, elegant and comfortable beach home.
From the first contact through the entire stay, the host provided exceptional attention to our needs offering a stunning property. Scarborough is the perfect location to base from while visiting the Cape. Whatever adventure you choose, it is mostly within an hours drive and then you return to this lovely home to recount the day enjoying a beautiful sunset or watching the waves roll in. Beds and linens are superior, furnishings comfortable, squeeky clean and above all quiet and peaceful. If you're looking at Capetown for your visit, secure this property.

We had everything we needed for a perfect stay, professional and very friendly host, we will book this home again and recommended this home my closest friends.
Oceans Horizon is a unique place. The house is very charming and comfortable. The position and the view are just amazing. Everything is really perfect. We have missed nothing.
Scarborough itself ist a very nice, calm and lovely village.
Susan and Alex, owner of the property, are such lovely and helpful.
We will come back as soon as possible.
We could not have been more pleased with our stay at Ocean's Horizon. The house is so beautiful, well kept, and clean and the views are like a dream come true! Susan left us a welcoming gift along with some groceries in the refrigerator which was super unexpected! Susan was so great to work with and provided us with so many resources on things to do and places to go. We loved the small town charm of Scarborough but were still close to so many other attractions. Our stay here and their hospitality exceeded our expectations! We would love to come back again!
The villa is situated in the quiet eco- village of Scarborough at the edge of the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Scarborough is about 45 minutes from Cape Town CBD. Although situated close to the remote tip of the Cape Peninsula, Scarborough nevertheless offers a wide variety of outings, both picturesque and interesting, a short drive away.
The scenic village of Kommetjie, with its lighthouse and popular Long Beach, is 10 minutes away. Scarborough is 15 minutes from the historic naval village of Simonstown and Boulders Beach with its famous penguin colonies. Just down the coast from there are the warm water False Bay beaches of Fish Hoek and Muizenberg.
Recreation activities in Scarborough include surfing, mountain trails and beach walks. A walk along the beach towards Misty Cliffs/ Witsand is truly mesmerising with the turquoise water and fine, white sand.
