Overview

About the property

4 private bedrooms, sleeps 10, 2.5 baths, all on ground level for easy access.

Ideal for families in the summer and URI students in the winter!

Hear the historic Point Judith Light fog horn in the distance. Smell the salt air as you listen carefully and hear the surf pound the beach in the distance!

This 4 bedroom L shaped executive ranch is within a pleasant 10 minute walking distance to Scarborough Beach!

Family room with open access to Kitchen presents great area to gather as you prepare your meal using ingredients freshly picked oregano from the back yard herb garden.

Nice hardwoods throughout, including a pleasant dining room, living room, and bedrooms that are conveniently on the same level, yet offset from the living area for those who may want to retire early. Also, a nicely landscaped yard with small private deck is available for your relaxation.

Fully furnished kitchen comes complete with dishwasher, refrigerator, oven/stove, disposal, and microwave. Fully stocked with utensils, dish ware, pots and pans, including a lobster pot!

An outside gas grille is also provided, along with cooking utensils for that special summer barbecue or steam.

Living room comes complete with digital cable TV and DVD.

Master bedroom has king bed, digital cable TV, closet, and private bath with skylight window.

Three other bedrooms: one queen, one full size, and one with two comfortable twin beds (for the URI Winter Rental we replace these twin beds to a single full size bed). (No TV in full size or twin bedrooms, unless you move them from the other two bedrooms.)

Convenient washer and dryer at no extra cost.

And we offer AC in Living Room and Master BR in case you need it. The large units effectively cool the entire house if you catch a muggy day where the ocean breezes are not stirring through the large Anderson casement windows.

We have a nice COLD outside shower for convenient rinsing off of the beach sand, and a great relaxation area in the attached two car garage. There you can play foosball, darts, mini ping pong, or just relax if there is a passing rainshower.

The grounds are all manicured for your pleasure with a large side yard that can accommodate a game of frisbee, wiffle ball, volley ball, bocce, corn hole, or whatever you may come up with. It's also a convenient area if you are hosting a family reunion in the area. We can make a 10 X 10 Canopied Tent available to you for a moderate rental fee.

We have a nice patio table and chairs, with patio umbrella if you want to eat outside, or just relax at smaller tables on the small backyard deck, or flagstone patio by the entrance.

Point Judith Light Just Down Route 108: The Pt. Judith Light and Coast Guard Station sit on the western entrance to Narragansett Bay. The original wooden tower was built in 1810, but was blown over during a storm six years later. A replacement stone tower lasted until 1857, when the current octagonal tower was erected.

The light is easily reached on Rt. 108, just past the turn-off to Galilee and the Block Island ferry. Turn right after Iggy's.

Newport, via Jamestown, Just Over The Newport Bridge: A fantastic day trip into the gilded age. Visit historic mansions such as Rosecliff or Marble House. Drive by the farm where the Kennedy's were married. Fly a kite by the ocean at Bretton Point. Or just enjoy a restaurant and stroll along the waterfront. International Tennis Hall of Fame: Visit and see the history including the famous grass courts.

Golfing Venues: Rhode Island has some of the best golfing available in New England. Local courses that the avid golfer will enjoy include Newport National in Portsmouth, just on the other side of Newport, North Kingston Municipal, a great track that borders an Air National Guard site and the Bay, Winnapaug in Westerly is a nice Ross design, and Laurel Lane is a very playable course set in the countryside. Many more courses to choose from including Meadowbrook, Fenner Hill, and Beaver River. Plenty of nine holers too!

About Mike or Ann Lapolla

Ann and Mike plan on spending their summers here someday but for now they have to pay for it because they are still paying for sending the kids to college! But they love sharing the beauty and relaxation of the house with people looking to get away for a smartly priced and more functional alternative to traditional hotel stays. Be sure to read the reviews the house has been receiving since they started renting in 2007.

We personally keep up the house and routinely update, and upgrade every year. Come back to see what is new this year!

Mike or Ann Lapolla purchased this house in 2007

Why Mike or Ann Lapolla chose Eastward Look

Come and enjoy this great retreat. Perfect for families and couples reconnecting. Spacious yard areas, well manicured gardens including an herb garden you are welcome to use in your cooking, updated kitchen, wi fi, cable, and a great attached two car garage for playing darts, foosball, or mini-ping pong. Excellent for entertaining as well.

What makes this house unique

Neighborhood has no outlet meaning traffic is light and good for biking and running.

One street over has a well trimmed path that connects Greene Lane to Angell Road, which gets you to the beach in a pleasant 10 minute walk.

We love hearing the waves at night or in the morning, in the distance, when all is calm and fresh. You will too!

Great time!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Exceptionally clean. Great lay-out with bedrooms being on one side of the house (put the little ones down early and entertain without waking them!). Centrally located to all area attractions. Only rental house I've ever stayed at that has a king-sized bed and you can't beat all the bathrooms! Have stayed there two summers in a row and will return again.

Owner's Response: This is very representative of many of the great comments we see in our guest book. We greatly appreciate feedback; and more importantly act on it. Good things are reinvested in, improvement opportunities are acted on. We want this to be a home you return to year after year! Let us provide a resting point for savoring the jewel that is Narragansett and its surrounding communities!

Stay here every June!

  • 5 of 5

I absolutely love this home! Absolutely spotless. Tons of towels (both beach and household) and linens. Lots of board games, fooze ball, outside chairs, grill. Perfect home lay out with being one level, bedrooms separate from living area so if someone goes to bed earlier will not be disturbed. Unbelievable amount of pots, pans, dishes, glasses. Owners upgrade every year. Have stayed there 8 years in a row and will continue to do so. Close to many attractions.

House met and exceeded our expectations, owner was easy to do business with. Especially nice to have everything on one street level floor. Recommend for Scarborough area beach rental.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review and thanks for clarifying after posting this that the 4 stars were more related to the weather that week and not with the house itself. We hope you give Narragansett another shot next year!

Well kept and airy. Very relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Would definitely return. The house is a destination of its own. Good area for relaxing, barbecuing, lounging, and lawn games with separate private area for resting and sleeping. 2 car garage has foosball, table top ping pong, and darts as well.

Great family vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

We started renting this lovely beach house from Ann and Mike several years ago and it immediately became a summer tradition. It's the perfect house for a great getaway for adults or families. Our kids love it - it's perfect for us since it's just a short walk to the beach so it's easy to come and go throughout the day. The house itself has everything you need - even down to a high chair if you've got a baby with you! Ann and Mike are excellent hosts and their beach house has everything we need to have a wonderful and comfortable time in Narragansett each summer.

Eastward Look South - Centrally located in relaxing Eastward Look South on the corner of Newport Lane and Jamestown Boulevard. A 10 minute walk to Scarborough Beach, minutes from Galilee Fishing Village, Block Island Ferry, other surfing or calm beaches, historic and entertaining Newport, and scenic Jamestown. Quick ride to Providence for the famous Waterfire, Roger Williams Zoo, or south to Mystic Seaport or Aquarium, and popular Native American Gambling Casinos.

Restaurants range from great clam shacks to higher end restaurants. These range from the informal Meldgie's Diner and, from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives' , Crazy Burger, up to higher end epicurean delights at the Coast Guard House or Trio.

Just down the road from extensive shopping, miniature golf, go-carts, driving range, golf courses, and marinas. Be sure to visit the eccentric Umbrella Factory or Paragliding in Charlestown

Try us for a memorable summer rental and see where you will be wanting to come back to for years to come!

Lovely sunrise and sunset beach walks, scenic bike paths, and right next to scenic route 1A which winds through Narragansett on its way to the famous Coast Guard House Restaurant, built right on the ocean's edge or on to historic Wickford Village and Marina.

Fantastic running venue too, 5K to 10 mile runs are outside your door.

Historic Point Judith Lighthouse 5 minute drive away!

Other Activities: Coast Guard House at the Narragansett Towers has an ocean side deck where you can enjoy a drink, and great sea side food, in a relaxing beach atmosphere. They also have an upscale restaurant that is surrounded by ocean views.

Nearby Wakefield has ice cream from Brickley's that you will just love. Also in Wakefield is Mew's Tavern for a fun night out that will please child, young adult, and adult alike. Write your name on the tree right inside the restaurant, or sample one of their huge selection of microbrews.

About a ten minute car ride from the house you will find go-carts, mini golf, and a kiddie water ride.

About 20 minutes away, enjoy a water ride and amusements at Misquamicut amusements, or go to the Yawgoo Valley water park for hill side tubing.

The area has rental options for biking, canoeing, and kayaking to name a few.

40 mins to Mystic Seaport/Aquarium, Casinos, and the world famous Roger Williams Zoo.

For golf you need to know a member to get on the private Point Judith Country Club, Wannumetonomy, or Newport Country Club courses but there are plenty of great public tracks in the area including Weekapaug, Laurel Lane, newly renovated Meadowbrook, world class Newport National and North Kingston Municipal (Quonset) where you can often see National Guard cargo planes on the nearby tarmac. Other great golf options include Beaver River, Richmond Country Club, Exeter Country Club, Jamestown Country Club, and 9 hole Rolling Green.

In the winter, a great location for URI students in the heart of eastward look south. Landlord is very accommodating and readily available if any issues should arise.
