Overview

New Mexico House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Nestled at the foot of Taos Mountain off the Valdez Rim Road, Stella Luna, our 1500 square foot, two bedroom, two bath home sits on a quiet lane. It's just 15 mins from the slopes of Taos Ski Valley, 15 mins from the Town of Taos & Taos Plaza, and 5 mins from the charming village of Arroyo Seco. Extraordinary views in all directions, high ceilings throughout, large windows, and a floor plan that offers both open space and privacy come together to create a home that graciously welcomes you back after a day of skiing, sightseeing, or shopping. In fact, if you're like us, you might never want to leave Stella Luna at all!

Our lovely home offers a spacious, master suite with a King bed, attached office/nursery, TV/DVD, a Jacuzzi bath, and walk-in closet & dressing area. The second bedroom, conveniently separated from the master by the common living space, comes with a queen bed & double futon, TV/DVD, and an amazing view of Taos Mtn. While the house can comfortably sleep four adults, it can easily accommodate two more on the sleeper sofa in the living room.

A cozy fire in the kiva fireplace will warm your bones while you dine or relax in the comfortable living area. Being travelers, cooks, and foodies ourselves, Stella Luna provides you with a well-equipped kitchen and a home tastefully decorated with furnishings, art and objects from near and far. A selection of movies, books, and games will help you unwind from your life in the real world. To soothe those aching limbs and enjoy our spectacular New Mexico skies, there's a hot tub on the back deck; from the SW facing portal you get views of the Truchas, El Pedernal (a leitmotif of Georgia O'Keeffe), sunsets, and the neighbor’s grazing cows.

We love children and they're welcome at Stella Luna. We'll work with you to provide you the amenities you need.

About Sanjay Poovadan

In 1979 as a new immigrant to the US , I came out to NM to attend St. John’s College in Santa Fe. Plato and Aristotle, Aeschylus and Shakespeare, Kant, Baudelaire, Einstein, and Dante brought me to NM. But it was this land itself, with its stark, bright light, dramatic landscape, rich culture and the many friendships I made here that kept me coming back.

After a 13-year career working for a number of SF Bay Area retail companies (The Nature Company/Discovery Channel Stores, The North Face, Illuminations, Restoration Hardware, etc.), in operations, human resources and real estate/construction, including managing several multi-store roll outs, I followed the woman I love to northern NM in 2002, to set down roots, invest in real estate and to make Taos home.

Here in Taos I have enjoyed becoming a part of a community that is diverse, creative and serious. There is nothing like involvement in the life and institutions of a community to build relationships and to make sense of how it all works. My own interests and those of my step children have been my guide: I became a part of the Taos Soccer Coalition, a couple of Acequias in the Taos Valley, the Friends of Anansi Charter School, the Board of the Taos Ski Team and Intermezzo of the Santa Fe Opera. In addition I served for six years on the Board of Visitors and Governors of St. John’s College which has campuses in both Santa Fe, NM and Annapolis, MD. Today I serve on the boards of the Taos Land Trust and of the Quail Roost Foundation. I believe in the long term value of real estate in northern NM.

Why Sanjay Poovadan chose New Mexico

This is a home in the country, with breathtaking views, quiet, proximity to Arroyo Seco Village and Taos Ski Valley

What makes this house unique

Magnificent views--the bright and piercing morning light off the back of Taos Mountain greet each day; the last rays of sun set over the Rio Grande with El Pedernal as a back drop. All this is on a quiet dead-end lane in Arroyo Seco.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We hope that our home has been restful and relaxing. We hope that you have enjoyed it enough to return to Taos soon. Please take a few minutes to tell us and other potential visitors about your stay with us. Once again, many thanks for visiting.

Fantastic Get Away!

  • 5 of 5

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Arroyo Seco area of Taos and Ski Valley during November when the Aspens were in full color (yellow-gold). Our stay at Stella Luna was exceptional. The owner, Sanjay really knows how to provide all the comforts of home in this vacation rental. There is a 360 degree view of the entire valley and the stars are spectacular at nite because of the romote location.

We heard the sounds of the coyotes during the night and were able to take a scenic drive during the day to the top of the mountain at Ski Valley )only a 15 minute drive from the house. Tim's Stray Dog Cantina

is a great place to have lunch and eat outdoors on the deck to appreciate the view of the mountains.

After hiking and sightseeing, we returned to our vacation home and were able to enjoy the outdoor jacuzzi and take in the views! We relaxed by the Kiva fireplace and had plenty of firewood to stoke the fire

all night. We enjoyed the great selection of DVD's and an excellent bottle of Australian Cabernet Savignon compliments of the owner, Sanjay!

Can't wait to book my next trip to Stella Luna!

Great views, super nice house!

  • 5 of 5

This house has great views from almost any window. It is close enough to town to run and get whatever you need, but also off the beaten path. There are hiking trails, scenic views and hot springs not too far from Stella Luna. And we had snow on the ground when we arrived for Thanksgiving week. We would recommend and hope to visit again one day.

A wonderful visit

  • 5 of 5

My wife, son and I stayed at Stella Luna in the autumn of 2015. What a beautiful time of year to visit northern New Mexico! There is no better place to stay than Stella Luna! We found the amenities very complete and as described in the listing. The location is very quiet and private. It was the perfect headquarters for our adventures around northern New Mexico, southern Colorado and western Arizona. We were amazed and delighted to see and photograph the Milky Way right from the front steps. I give it my unqualified recommendation. Thanks, Sanjay, for making our stay most enjoyable!

Stella Luna is Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We have been taking yearly trips to Taos for 13 years. We decided to take our 4 and 9 year old grandkids and their parents with us this time. We could not have picked a better place to stay. It was the little ones first time out of state and boy did they enjoy the casa inside and out. A special delight for them and us was the hot tub and the four neighboring beautiful speckled horses (that loved being fed carrots). The surroundings are beautiful with mountains all around and star-filled evening skies. It was close enough to the town of Taos to make an easy drive there but distant enough to enjoy a peaceful relaxing stay. There was every possible item for normal daily living inside the casa. The casa is extremely comfortable, neighbors are so friendly and we will definitely visit again!

Stella Luna

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Stella Luna for 2 weeks in August. It is a lovely, private, peaceful home with views in every direction. You have all of the Enchanted Circle to explore and then you can return to your own hot tub and view of the mountains. The home is very comfortable and well furnished. The kitchen is well stocked with every thing you would need to prepare a meal. We have been renting through VRBO for any years and this is perhaps the nicest home we have stayed in. You will love it.
