My mom and I stayed at Ma Petite Maison on our trip down the Oregon Coast and found it to be an ideal location for both exploring the southern coast and spending time inside reading and relaxing. The view is terrific, and it is clear that much care has gone into creating a lovely, clean, and exceptionally well supplied rental property. The hosts are welcoming, attentive, and happy to suggest places to visit in Port Orford and beyond. We would definitely stay here again and can't recommend this property highly enough!
My husband & 5 year old stayed here for a week with our two dogs. This property is absolutely wonderful. We wanted for nothing because it had it all. If you love to cook, the kitchen is fully stocked - down to a kitchen aid mixer. The property owners are very personable & helpful. The property is secluded & extremely quiet. Even their neighbor was friendly & so very helpful giving us directions to the best beaches & hidden beauty spots. The town is funky & fun. It's perfectly located to go to the Redwoods or visit lighthouses & the dunes. We highly, highly recommend this rental!
What a wonderful place to use as a home base to see the beautifully rugged South Coast of Oregon. The owners have clearly put a tremendous amount of effort and pride into this rental property. When you first arrive, you are struck by the absolute cleanliness and charming décor, especially the kitchen/living room area, which is completely stocked with everything you need, whether it is to brew a fine cup of coffee, sit back staring at the ocean with a nice glass of Oregon wine, or mix a martini! They welcome you with fresh farm eggs, a jar full of coffee beans, wine and fresh cut flowers. If you want to cook, aside from the fact that they have a fully stocked kitchen and access to a BBQ just outside your door, Port Orford has a very well equipped grocery store with a full meat section and fresh local produce, there is a gourmet food store with fresh homemade soups, and at the port you can buy fresh seafood to cook at home. They also have a nice selection of restaurants within very close proximity. The ocean views from Port Orford (get a travel cup of coffee and go sit on a bench at the Port Orford Heads) are as spectacularly beautiful as anything we have seen in out travels around the world. You are also a very easy drive to numerous glorious destinations for day trips, including the majestic redwoods in Northern California. But the truth is that we would come back in a heart beat because the owners make you feel so welcome, everything else on the trip then becomes a bonus!!! This gem is a real keeper on our travel itinerary. For all our fellow Canadians, this is the way to see the gorgeous Oregon Coast.
On first arrival, I couldn't help but notice how wonderfully appointed the kitchen was...with fine cookware, beautiful service ware and cookbooks galore. This place is perfect for the gourmet who actually wants to cook while on vacation (that's me!). What fun it was to meet the proprietor and learn that she, too, loves food and wine - we hit it off so well that we shared an amazing meal together, cooking in Iron Chef fashion. The bedroom was comfortable and we slept like babes; everything was spotlessly clean. Oh...and we cannot forget to mention how beautiful the area and the beaches are. Simply and elegantly perfect all around. Can I come back now?
This property had many "positives": short (4 blocks) walk to the beach and restaurants, "cute" and clean interior, pleasant/welcoming hosts, "forested" and quiet location, very well-equipped kitchen, clean and functioning propane grill, immediate return of deposit, great price, and a number of renter-centered amenities (e.g., night light, shower soaps, Port Orford information notebook, etc.). I've not been to France, though the owners of this property have created a bit of what I imagine to be French/European amenities that I've not found in the typical VRBO rental. Negatives?: personally, I'd rather LOAD a dishwasher than BE the dishwasher; the irony of the authentic china plates is that using the microwave takes a little more thought and search for microwave-safe containers than I'm used to (is that praise or criticism?); this is NOT a location that offers much of an ocean view, though the forest view is very pleasantly "Northwest". This property is probably most comfortably occupied by 2 adults, though there is a couch (didn't check to see if it converts to a bed) and seating/dinner ware for a least four. The steps at the entrance may be difficult for physically challenged individuals. I would easily recommend this property to others.
A great spot and space for my weekend away. Well-appointed in every way with lots of great details, ocean view, close to town, wonderful linens, useful kitchen, including kitchen knives that were recently sharpened (a personal vrbo bugaboo). The community was welcoming and knowledgable. I'll be back.
