About Jill Sjolin
I am a Realtor in the Seattle area, my husband of 30 years is a police officer (for the last 28yrs). We have vacation rentals too so we respect other owners homes/properties like they were our own. We have 3 grown children, we love to hike, bike, boat and exercise. We are busy, hard working people that need to vacation more! Our motto; "life is short and we are not promised tomorrow".
Jill Sjolin purchased this Villa in 2018

Perfect relaxing stay in idealistic cowboy town
We were totally delighted with our stay at Jill + Craig's home in Cave Creek, stunningly decorated, extremely comfortable with a real home from home feel. We have stayed in the area many times but on this occasion and additional plus was the accessibility to the shops, restaurants, bars and cafes within the town - Saturday mornings were a joy just strolling through the town first for coffee, then lunch then a beer with live music. In addition one of our favourite golf courses, Rancho Manana, is literally across the road where not only is the course stunning, there is also a great bar and a wonderful restaurant. But we also thoroughly enjoyed the catering facilities in this lovely house: great kitchen, fab BBQ, outdoor fire, or indoor fire for those chillier evenings. Another huge plus for us was that the two bedrooms were set up as two double suites each with its own bath/shower facilities, and extremely comfortable beds - so much better for inviting our friends or adult daughter to stay. Our hosts couldn't have been more accommodating with any queries we had. It felt so much more a home rather than a holiday let. Would love to return for longer next time.
Lovely decor. Great location. Excellent views.
Could be really special
My daughter and I stayed at this property in June, 2019. The home is well decorated and comfortable, very representative of the Cave Creek community. The shower in the master bath is wonderful! The kitchen is well equipped and beautiful! We enjoyed using the community pool and most days had it to ourselves. The community is quiet, but neighbors were friendly.
Our main issues with our stay could have easily been avoided. First, there were very few check-in details from the owner. A simple "welcome" sheet detailing wifi password, how to access the garage, information about the security and the Amazon Alexa, garbage schedule, etc., could have easily been detailed instead of having to reach out to the owner each time. The drawer we were directed to in order to find the garage opener, the gate clicker, and keys was a junk drawer, and it was difficult to find what we were looking for. The garage door opener in the drawer didn't work, we never found a gate clicker, and four days into our stay, we finally had to find the combo lock outside to get a key to the house to access the garage. The combo lock was on the gas meter nestled in some overgrown cactus. I felt like we were on a scavenger hunt for things that could have been easily organized. A system for checking in and check out would ensure that items needed for the next guest were returned and easily accessible.
Which leads us to the outside. The photos of the courtyard in the listing did not match what we found. The courtyard, whether an association issue or the homeowner's responsibility, had not been maintained. There was melted candle wax everywhere! An old bathroom cabinet from the renovation had been dumped out there. A decorative ladder had fallen across one of the patio doors. There was no table like in the photos, and leaves and debris were everywhere, especially on the steps we used everyday. Even though the weather was comfortable for June in Arizona, we didn't use the courtyard at all. It was a disappointment.
With more attention to detail, this property could really be special.
Heidi, Thank you for staying at our villa and thank you for the detailed feedback. Unbeknownst to us, our last guest accidentally took home the clickers for the garage and the gate and the info sheet was not left on the island for you. We have called our yard workers to inquire as they were to remove the cabinet and have the yard pristine. We have since instructed the house cleaners to make sure those items are all in order. If you want to come back and stay at the Villa again, please give us another try and we will discount your stay. Thanks again and we apologize we were not 5 star ready. Kind regards, Jill & Craig
