MISTY LAUREL CHALET (mistylaurel dot com) OFFERS GREAT LAKE & MOUNTAIN VIEWS, WI-FI, CELL SERVICE, DIRECTV AND MANY OTHER AMENITIES!

____________

On a ridgetop at 3600 feet elevation, Misty Laurel Chalet has a beautiful view of Lake Nantahala (which is at 3000' elevation) and the Smoky Mountains beyond. Imagine awakening to a gorgeous view of the lake and then taking a brisk walk thru a lovely forest with crisp, clean air. In fact, Robert Redford recently filmed 'A Walk in the Woods' nearby, at Wayah Bald, based upon the book of the same name by Bill Bryson (now showing at theaters across the country). The film's aerial videos were shot by the same video crew who did the videography for our Visit Misty Laurel YouTube video!

Misty Laurel is spacious - 2400 square feet - with two living areas, both equipped with flat screen TVs, DirecTV HD satellite receivers & DVD players, in addition to three bedrooms, so the kids can entertain themselves downstairs while the adults enjoy themselves upstairs. There's also an extra dining table, full-size refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker downstairs, so that increases the privacy options. Take a look at the floorplan illustrations below.

For ADVENTURE SEEKERS: check out the Area Attractions on our supplemental website at www (dot) mistylaurel (dot) com for information about horseback riding, ziplining, whitewater rafting, biking, fishing and hiking.

HOW's THIS FOR A FREEBIE? For rentals of at least a week in duration, we are again offering your choice of a FREE half-day pontoon boat rental at Lake's End Marina or a FREE half-day guided fishing trip on Lake Nantahala with Dale Raxter [www (dot) nantahalaguides (dot) com] , or a $150 voucher toward a guided fly fishing trip on the Nantahala River with Dakota Rogers [www (dot) nantahalaonthefly (dot) com]! For many of our previous guests, these excursions have been among the most memorable highlights of their visits to Misty Laurel. Lake Nantahala is spectacular and there's no better way to see it than from a boat. As well as being an excellent guide, Dale is a life-long Nantahala resident and will regale you with his tales as a park ranger and tracker! He was featured in the recent book "Bear in the Back Seat" about the career of a Smoky Mtn. Natl. Park ranger and wildlife expert. Dakota is the only local fishing guide who can offer a licensed and insured float fishing trip on the famous trout haven, the Nantahala River!

_________

Park, Gatlinburg, the incredible Biltmore House (near Asheville), and shopping in Highlands. These make great day trips, along with visiting the museums and the casino in Cherokee. There are so many fun things to do, you'll need to come back several times to experience them all!

About Patrick Greany

Pat and Jo are, respectively, a retired scientist (biologist) and educator (Spanish & French). Our puppy, Mitzi, a miniature poodle, loves being at Misty Laurel!

Patrick Greany purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Patrick Greany chose Lake Nantahala

We love to get away from the heat and humidity of Florida (Tallahassee) and Misty Laurel Chalet at Lake Nantahala is a great place to cool off and have fun!

What makes this cabin unique

While it's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, we still need to be able to keep in touch. DSL internet access provides for this need, so we can still fulfill our obligations as consultants, etc.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I justed wanted to let you know what a fabulous time Mike and I had staying at the Misty Laurel Chalet. The scenery was breath-taking and waking up in the mornings was like being in the clouds. The facilties we great as well. Once we got there, we felt like just staying and not even taking in the sights - although we did - and it was great to find out there were so many activities just around the corner of the mountain (kayaking, horseback riding, fishing and boating!). Thank you so much for telling us about the Chalet. We look forward to using it again!! It was a very relaxing and memorable stay!

Wow

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I arrived late at night. We were immediately impressed with the beautiful cabin, the fireplace, the size, etc. When we woke in the morning we were absolutely stunned. Little did we know that we had the most amazing view. We woke to a glistening crystal blue lake and a beautiful mountain range visiable from the bedroom window and of course the big picture windows. The wrap around deck was just perfect and we could have spent the entire vacation just enjoying the view, but we managed to tear ourselves away to enjoy some of the many activities the area has to offer. We canoed, hiked fished and did lots of sightseeing. . We only had a few days and next time hope to white water raft. As an airline employee, my husband my husband and I have access to just about anywhere a plane flies, but this was by far one of our favorite spots in the world. We look forward to our next visit. The owner, Pat, could not have been more helpful and was available round the clock. He is very organized has a great notebook full directions and suggestions which served to make navigating the area a breeze.. We highly recommend this cabin. You will not be dissapointed, I only wish there were more than five stars, as this little slice of heaven deserves ten.

Thanks For all, and hope to visit Misty Laurel again.

Misty Laurel is perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Misty Laurel in mid September and it was absolutely gorgeous. The Chalet was just as pictured and described and with Pat's directions we drove right to it without any problem. Pat was very gracious to check in with us on arrival day to be sure we had made it and to see if we had any questions. We enjoyed pontooning on the Lake Nantahala and rafting at the NOC. We also enjoyed strolling the are around the Chalet with our two dogs and I will say I don't believe I have ever been anywhere more tranquil. Just perfect. We hope to be back next year.

Great quality time with our family

  • 5 of 5

This was a fabulous cabin! The owners were extremely wonderful and the cabin was just gorgeous! The view of the lake, the Nantahala mountains, and the Smoky Mountains National Park was breath-taking. We had dinner at the Lake's-End Cafe, rented a boat from the Lake's-End Marina, went white-water rafting at the NOC, and horse-back riding at the Smokemont Riding Stables. Everyone was accommodating and gracious. There was still so much more to do, but we ran out of time. We hope to come back again!

Love Misty Laurel

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay at Misty Laurel! Pat is wonderful and had great communication with us from planning answering all of our questions and taking time to talk to us before we rented through end of stay. The house was clean and comfortable with all amenities one could need from a crock-pot's to Chromecast on the TV's. We only had to bring our food and sense of adventure. The view from the chalet was incredible we were even treated with a lightening storm one night that was unbelievable. We enjoyed our coffee on the porch in the morning and cocoa around the fire pit at night. On Wayah Road the main road off of the mountain there were multiple waterfalls along the river and tons to explore locally. The guys went fishing with Dale for a day and the girls in search of yet more waterfalls on an adventurous drive to the Highlands. We had a great time horseback riding at the Nantahala Village Stables which was amazing- they had a very friendly staff and the horses were well trained and well kept! It snowed right before we got there so we got to make a mini snowman with the kids and a few snowballs may have been thrown. Only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer! Would love to return in warmer weather and try white water rafting.

Memorable Experience

  • 5 of 5

I've rented placed various times and I have to say that this has the best experience. Pat, the owner, was very helpful, accommodating and pleasant to work with during my stay. As a matter of fact, he was in Italy when I arrived at Misty Laurel and he called me to make sure that everything was okay. His directions to the the place were very helpful especially since I rely a lot on Google maps.

I traveled with my son and my Golden retriever and the house was just spectacular. It was everything I expected and more. I've been to places where the owner has signs and notes posted on every room. This was not the case. I felt right at home and spent five glorious days, enjoying Misty Laurel. The view from the house was spectacular, and I woke up every morning looking at the mountains and the lake. The view from the top floor bedroom allowed you to look over from bed and see it (just as in the pictures). I enjoyed coffee and wine on the balcony and took in the smells and the sounds of nature. My seventeen year old son enjoyed cable and especially Wifi. I liked that the deck would close completely, so I felt comfortable, having my dog outside. I cooked all our meals and the house had everything I needed to prepare them. We used Pat's suggestions to visit various places in the area, including Cullajasa Falls and Wayah Bald. We also visited various waterfalls in Franklin/Highlands. I hope to go back to Misty Laurel one day, in the summer so we can enjoy the lake and the river activities. Thank you, Pat for sharing your home with us.
