Our private 3000 Sq Foot Ranch House is located on our 40-acre working farm and equestrian event center. Located in the foothills of Ventura County. We are a family run, working ranch secluded in a small valley between the town of Moorpark and the community of Somis. Go to our website for Tons of Photos. You can Google Meadows of Moorpark or use the Link Below.
People are amazed at our island of paradise, located only 40 minutes from Los Angeles and 30 minutes to great pacific surfing spots of the 'Rincon.'
We are a horse center and working avocado ranch. Our Ranch is for someone who wants to get away from the city, but close enough to visit. Don't be fooled by other mini-ranches, they often are nothing more than a guest house in a 1-acre rural neighborhood. The Ranch house is the real deal. Our privacy and real orginal homestead environment is our gem.
Feel free to come visit our family and ranch any time and check out the farm before hand.
The words, 'room and space' are defined at the Meadows. Our Dad designed it 32 years ago for our large family. It can be yours and 13 of your best friends in the four giant, private bedrooms.
The Ranch House represents 'California Style' and has been used in the filming of commercials and movies. Some stay on our private ranch to avoid the Paparazzi.
The ammenities are almost endless and the porch-laundry room is bigger than most kitchens. People tell us that they like to visit the ranch house for an 'off the map' rural retreat. The large 30X30 “Great Room” is the centerpiece of the house and you get that cozy 1800's ranch feeling while sitting by the massive fireplace and watching the wildlife.
Many people rent the ranch for quiet family get togethers, horse events or even romantic get-aways. Why rent 4 hotel rooms for the reunion?
Our house sleeps 14 in a variety of bed sizes and is located at the end of a tree lined private driveway-entrance. We even have a 16 person bunkhouse and detached cottage that sleeps two. We designed our restaurant-size kitchen before it was vogue. There are 3 bathrooms, numerous nooks , and perfect reading areas.
Wi-Fi in the whole house, Satellite Television, DVD and outdoor movie area.
Step out side and see our 100 year-old ranching implements and barns. We are a working ranch and do have activities occurring, tractoring, orchards and farm work in our adjoining canyons.
Take a walk up the hiking trails to the pond and picnic areas. We have a real working Santa Maria Barbecue that can cook for 75. We have outdoor heaters and campfire areas for year-round enjoyment. Do you like to see the stars at night. Make smores at our campfire center is only 30 feet from the ranch house and is the #1 favorite of guests. You will enjoy watching the Milky Way and shooting stars almost nightly.
We have a giant pool and outdoor spa that across the meadow about 250 yards away.
Romance and Ranch House both start with an 'R'. There is a reason, the Meadows Ranch House is the epitomy of a peacful ambiance.

Raised on our ranch. We are a farming and horse family and live and work on the ranch. Our houses are on the other side of the ranch, 1/2 mile away, close enough to make sure your needs are met and still allowing total privacy. We have many farming activites going on, and when possible, always offer up a chance for guests to jump in. A slice of rural California just 45 minutes to Los Angeles, 10 minutes to Moorpark and Camarillo Wedding areas. 20 minutes to Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Ventura.
Tammy Hagel purchased this farmhouse in 1977
We bought the ranch over 34 years ago. It is the Oliver 1890 homestead and the Oliver's taught us how to farm. We loved the seclusion of our 'Long Canyon' and have great ranching and farming neighbors.
Relaxation, privacy, nature, space and quiet, with the ocean and cities just 10-20 minutes away.
We brought our family from Florida. The spring time on the ranch was incredible. We loved the hikes on the trails and went to Universal Studios, about an hour away. Tammy and her sister Randee treated our kids like family.
What a great time we had on the ranch! I am living in London for work and recently planned a family trip to California. The ranch house was perfect with plenty of space for the large family and simply felt like home the moment we arrived. We were easily able to visit the beach, Universal Studios and Santa Barbara. What I liked the most were the quiet nights filled with stars and the occasional owl in the distance...so relaxing. I will definitely be coming back. Cheers to the owners for their part in a great California vacation!
Around 10 of us got together for a college reunion and stayed at the Ranch over Memorial Day weekend, as we were participating in a field hockey tournament right down the road at Moorpark College. We could not have been better accommodated for.
We were greeted by a nice bottle of wine, grapes and cheese and had all the privacy in the world. The group of women came from all over the US. Myself being from LA, the ranch served as a quick and easy escape to paradise.
There is terrific hiking and the property is a blast to explore- It was avocado season and one morning a large bucket overflowing with them was at the door. The owners of the property are extremely thoughtful and genuine. They even went out and purchased new spot lights so we could continue our activities outdoors after the sun went down.
Inside the home, there is everything you need - cups, towels, extra blankets, board games, books, serving dishes, industrial sized coffee makers, fresh water, plenty of fridge and freezer space, wifi, a great stereo, detergent - you name it. The beds are very comfy and there is plenty of sleeping space.
Guests are given plenty of privacy - You feel as though you are at home and when you leave, you are hopeful that you can return again soon. The whole weekend at the Ranch was an unforgettable one. I highly recommend this wonderful abode, however I plan to book it each Memorial Day Weekend for years to come!
We came all the way from Uruguay in South America to spend time with family and I cannot rave enough about this guest house and property!! Not only is this owned by a fantastic family who made us feel thoroughly welcome, but it is such an amazing place for a family to have good quality time after sightseeing or just a great place to have a laid back family vacation. The huge guest house is situated on a beautiful ranch away from the hustle and bustle of the city noise. There were 10 in our party and we had more than enough room. I was blown away by the beautiful master bathroom and whirlpool tub. It was a welcome find after a long, hot day of walking! The ranch was not too far of a drive from all the sights in L.A. We were able to wash clothes, grill out, take quiet walks, play board games, and just enjoy each other's company while we recharged for the next day's outing. I highly recommend this guesthouse and we will definitely be returning!!
The Ranch House itself is incredible - massive open living space, an abundance of bedrooms and bathrooms, a kitchen and laundry filled with all the utensils and equipment you could possibly need. It is very clean, the towels are fresh, and there is no shortage of cleaning, washing and vanity items. The wifi was also consistent and fast.
The surroundings are exquisite. Short walks will present views of mountains, canyons, avocado and tangerine trees, and the equestrian arena nearby ensures a proper ranch feeling.
The owner of the property, Tammy, is incredibly friendly and it was a pleasure to deal with her. I would absolutely recommend a stay here - for every type of person. I myself am a young traveller who was looking for a proper American ranch experience and a base for exploring California, and I am more than satisfied with my choice. I can see the potential for families, retirees, couples, groups and everyone in between.
While staying at the Ranch House, I visited Malibu, Santa Barbara, LA, Santa Monica and Venice Beach. All were an easy drive away, and it was always a pleasure to return in the evenings to the Ranch House!
Prepare for amazing Californian weather too!
Our group of friends wanted a quick weekend getaway close to Los Angeles. Upon discovering Meadows of Moorpark, we immediately booked our getaway. When we arrived, we were greeted like family and after a brief tour, we settled in for what promised to be a relaxing stay. We were not disappointed. The ranchhouse was well appointed, clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed to cook a fabulous meal. That night we gather by the firepit, drank wine until the cows came home. That morning after coffee, we hike and explored the ranch like a scout troop. Lots of fun. Thank you Again and We'll be back.
We had a group of 15 ladies for a overnight retreat and this was the perfect place. The huge living room served as our meeting place complete with projector. The layout of the rooms, kitchen and dining room is great for large groups (we never felt crowded). My personal fav is the outdoor campfire (s'mores) and nature trail to the pond. Pure air, peacefulness and truly gracious owners make it hard to leave. I look forward to coming back!
