Fabio Ausenda purchased this House in 2002
Why Fabio Ausenda chose Menaggio
Because Lake Como is probably one of the most spectacular places on Earth. That is why movie stars choose it to buy properties. The Little House on the Bridge is one of the most unique houses in an Historical Area of Menaggio. We immediatley fell in love with it, as soon as we saw it for sale.
What makes this House unique
An extremely quiet and cool location. Excellent to relax after days of moving around visiting other places... ideal also for a winter holiday. The fireplace makes the house very cozy and we are just one hour and fifteen minutes away from top quality ski and cross country areas.

The house was perfectly suited for our group of four. Fabio was super helpful in getting us situation at the house and in the town.
Beautiful situation, friendly welcome
We had a fantastic time. It's a lovely little house, well equipped and clean, in a stunning location with beautiful views. The owner, Fabio, was wonderfully welcoming and informative, in a slightly chaotic but extremely helpful way. It was, by our standards, very hot (high 30s when we arrived) but there are fans, thick walls, and a good through breeze, so we coped well. We hired a car, but we wouldn't bother again: there are good public transport links, and a great deal is accessible by foot.
Thank you Mike for your support...
Beautiful location, caution: steep walk
Apartment has great charm. Linens need to be better quality. Kitchen well stocked. Shower curtain mildewed. Dishwasher, convection oven and washing machine much appreciated.
A great place with character and a great view to stay for a short time or long time!
The Little Bridge House apartment is in a fantastic location in the beautiful and historic cobble-stoned neighborhood called The Costello which is perched up on a hill overlooking the town but just a few minutes walk from the main town center. Here you are in a quiet neighborhood with a nice view of the lake. I had a very pleasant one month stay at the apartment which is in a fully renovated 16th century building which means it has the comforts of modern living with a lot of character. The photos are all very accurate and give a good overview of the apartment. Almost all the tourists passing by always take pictures of the apartment in order to capture the medieval charm of the area. Fabio, the owner is a great host and was always available for all my needs.
Menaggio is my favorite small town on the lake with a great collection of stores and restaurants and two supermarkets. There is easy access to Varenna and Bellagio by ferry boat. It is just as easy to get around to other areas of the lake by the numerous ferry boat or buses (if you prefer not to have a car). And there is easy access to trains in Varenna. Many hiking trails either begin in Menaggio or are easily accessible from the town---the friendly Tourist Info office in the main square has lots of information for hiking and water sports in the area. And, Lugano Switzerland and Lake Lugano are a 30 minute drive or bus ride away.
Lovely house in a great location
We loved our stay in the little bridge house. It's in a quiet historic part of Menaggio and is very comfortable. Fabio was very kind and helpful, with suggestions of local day trips and helping us solve a small problem in the house. Menaggio is a great base and well connected with boats and buses.
Super Cute Apartment With Lake View
We stayed here as a family of five and fit very well - the one bedroom has two single beds and a loft bed and the second has a queen. The ceilings are low (we're very tall), but there are lovely sky lights letting in the sun. The bathroom has a tub, which was nice. The kitchen was well-equipped and the living area had a lot of good information on the area, including English guide books.
The location is very nice - a walk up the steep streets from the center of town takes only 5 minutes. My mother (age 70) took a while to get up there, but the rest of us (including little kids) were fine. It's good to walk off all the wine and pasta anyway! I loved the little balcony as well.
The only thing I missed was a drying line outside - the one in the bathroom takes a while to dry the clothes. Our host was absolutely lovely about everything and promptly responded to all questions. Menaggio is a good place to start from if you are exploring this area.
Menaggio is the most Central Place of Lake Como. At easy reach fom Airports and nearby Switzerland. Spectacular (but crowded) Bellagio is only 15 minutes away by ferry. House has parking, but Lake Como can very well be visited without a car. Public transport goes everywhere. Also trail heads can be reached by bus. Owner availble also daily if needed for suggestions.
