Very comfortable accommodation for our family of five. However, smoke detector batteries all chirped and needed to be removed. We suggest extra batteries be available as well as correct lamp lights since two were out. Also, floor fans are needed due to heat wave and still air. Lastly, recycle bin was completely full of recyclables so there wasn't space for our recyclables and a piece of the wooden gate fell to ground.
I can't say enough about the location. Perfectly set up at Sunset Beach. VERY short walk to the sand and in a quiet, friendly neighborhood. We used the outdoor shower daily for the kids (warm water made it awesome). We walked to Ted's Bakery every morning for breakfast and a couple times for lunch. It's so close!
The only recommendation I would make is getting the shower faucet fixed as it was a tad finicky but really not a big deal.
It was nice having the sand toys, snorkel gear, and beach umbrella available as well.
We definitely plan on staying here next year!
Traditional Hawaiian house with huge deck, enclosed back yard, quiet neighborhood. 3 bedrooms, but only one small bathroom. Five bicycles to ride on awesome trails to many beaches. Kitchen small, no dishwasher. Second shower is outdoors and awesome. North shore surfing and gigantic waves lived up to their reputation, yet there were several protected beaches to boogie board and snorkel. Deck closet had much beach equipment for our use: umbrellas, boogie boards, snorkel masks etc. This house is definitely not condo chic, but very relaxing and comfortable. We'll be back!
Wonderful, clean, relaxing, everything needed for a day at the beach is provided. The bikes were brand new. The grounds were impeccably maintained. Neighbors are great! We will be returning again and again.Halcomb family.
This place was great! We stayed here in February and absolutely loved it. The house was comfortable enough for 4 adults and 2 children. Even though there is only 1 bathroom in the house, we found that the outdoor shower was amazing and never had to use the one inside. The gift basket on arrival was a nice surprise. The backyard was secluded, the lanai was amazing, the play set for the kids was great, and we spent many nights just relaxing on the comfy patio furniture, after we watched the Awesome sunsets on the beach. Although the house is not right on the beach, as I had thought, it was perfectly located about half a block from two great Public beach entrance points. They were so easy to find that my 2 and 5 year old daughters could tell you how to get to the beach, which is within 2 minutes of the house. They could also tell you how to get to Ted's Bakery, which was directly south of the house and 1 street over, and one of our favorite places to grab something to eat before or after a long day. The North Shore IS the best part of the whole island, the locals were nice, Foodland (grocery) and Food trucks were just a couple miles west of the house and easy to find. We were within minutes of about everything we wanted to do, there was a paddle board surf competition on Sunset Beach for 10 days while we were there and we could watch a lot of great surfers, Waimea Falls and Beach were just 10 minutes (which is probably on 5 miles), Polynesian Culture center was about 15 minutes away, as was the Dole Pineapple Plantation and Green World Coffee. Hale'iwa was a great little town too, about 7 miles from the house, you can take whale tours, see the Green Sea Turtle swimming about in the cove and find really nice souvenir shops. We loved our trip and would totally recommend this to anyone looking for a great getaway, away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu.
This place made us feel at home! It was very well equipped and presented with the fantastic outdoor hot shower and heaps of equipment for the beach. There were also towels for both the beach and the shower. Spices and sauces were stocked and the BBQ (I think it was brand new!) was great, as the cost of dining out is pretty high in Oahu. The position meant we could walk to the beach, Teds Bakery for breakfast croissants and to the pipe masters and leave our rental car at the place.
Other Activities: Kite surfing, Tow-Surfing, Boogie boarding, Skim-boarding
