|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Nice location. Lots of nearby public transport makes this apartment within easy reach of the sights. And there’s so much to see and do here that you’ll want to explore. Back at the traditional apartment you'll feel homely and comfortable. And if you need more or less space, then we have other apartments available in the same building.
Feeling edgy? The 15th is a neighbourhood of contrasts, hosting both Vienna’s largest concert hall and a stomping ground for ladies of the night.
Liza Minnelli and U2 have sung their hearts out at the Stadthalle, but that’s not all that’s legendary here. The Red Light district is around the Westbahnhof station, a major hub connecting Vienna with the west of the country. Variety is the spice of life they say, making the 15th very peppery indeed.
We had a great stay in the Sechshauser apartment. The location was excellent, close to two subway stops and we could even walk from Hofburg in a pleasant stroll along Mariahilfer Strasse. The apartment had everything we needed, and the apartment manager, Gertraud, was very friendly and provided us with helpful information.
we booked the apartment for two weeks. upon arrival, we were greeted by the apartment coordinator, Emelia, who was very sweet. In our broken German and her broken English, we were able to communicate fully. This review will be long but worth it so please read it.
The apartment is amazing and definitely more than big enough for 3 people. It is easily accessible by two underground stations nearby (U4 and U6) and within "running" distance of an amazing park and the tourist attraction, Schonbrunn Palace. There are plenty of supermarkets on the road where you can buy food, and restaurants across the street. so 10/10 for location.
We had planned to book a car and travel to Salzburg for two days, Emelia was amazing at understanding what we were requesting regarding parking and informed us that they have a parking card at a nearby parking complex, for EUR 8 per day, which we gladly paid to use, as you are only allowed to park infront of the building for free from 9PM to 7AM. so 10/10 for extra assistance.
The apartment came equipped with everything we need, television and fast internet. there was green tea and espresso coffee which we used and refilled upon our departure. There was more than enough tableware - mugs, glasses, plates etc. for us and we ensured to use only 3 of each set so as to keep cleaning what we used. However, the knives set is in desperate need of sharpening. so 9/10 for kitchen.
The lightbulbs in the house were heat producing, some were energy savers, however it would be better if they were all made into the energy savers as the distance from the lightbulb to the couch where people sit is short and can cause discomfort to people sitting. we unscrewed the lightbulbs to prevent all 6 in the living room from turning on when we sat there. so 8/10 for lighting fixtures.
Fans were provided as requested, and an extra fan was brought to us by Emelia, god bless her. so 10/10 for electronic fixtures.
The lights in the bathroom are in need of replacement as they started taking a long time to run on.
the water heater worked perfectly, it required Emilia's assistance to turn the pilot light on.
The washing machine downstairs was a life saver, Emelia pointed us to it, and the presence of a dryer as well. Be wary of the 3 giant yet docile spiders in the basement though. And again, Emelia offered to do the washing of our linens and towels for us, which we respectfully declined and did ourselves. One time we left the washing machine and went out, upon our return we noticed that she (Emelia) had moved the washing to the dryer, and even folded it for us (it was bed linens and towels) so 100/10 for her help.
The floorboards in the double bedroom creak, but that ads to the taste of the house.
Other than that, everything was perfect, perfect, perfect. We look forward to rebooking this house for our next trip to Vienna!
Comfortable beds (in the 2 rooms - we did not test the sofa in the living room).
Good location (5 mn far from the U-Bahn station, 60 mn by foot from downtown - I recommend Mariahilfe Str., a lively street with a lot of shops). Old fashioned furniture and decoration.
Light curtains which make dark impossible to have in the bedrooms.
The kitchen should be renovated.
Surroundings :The Vienna city was beautifull.
Appartment: The concierge was very sympahthetic and helpfull.
The appartment was exactly as described in the advertisement at the waytostay site.
The stay in the city was pleasant. The furniture is really old and should be replaced.
The dishes, cookery and the cutlery should be replaced also for better equipment.
Plenty of towels available.
