Great water views, beaches and fishing off Dog Fish Bar are yours with our contemporary house in Aquinnah on Martha's Vineyard. Only a short 5 -10 minute walk to uncrowded beach on Vineyard Sound. Lots of birds visit the feeders near the front deck facing Vineyard Sound. Enjoy a 180 degree panoramic view of Vineyard Sound, the Elizabeth Islands and Menemsha from the downstairs kitchen, dining room, and living room and upstairs from the master and guest bedrooms. The spacious upstairs bedrooms each have their own full bathrooms. The modern kitchen is fully equipped for gourmet meals. A short walk to the Aquinnah town beach on Vineyard Sound, our house also comes with access to Philbin Beach on the ocean adjacent to the Gay Head cliffs, less than two miles away. The best stripped bass fishing on the island is yours with short walk to Dogfish Bar on Vineyard Sound. Bike on paved, rural roads with little traffic. Take a 7 mile loop around Aquinnah or a short 2 mile extension to the end of West Basin Road and the bike ferry to the fishing village of Menemsha. Enjoy comfortable accommodations for a family vacation in a tranquil setting. Use Wi-Fi at no additional charge. We will consider pets.

Watch a continuous stream of birds attracted to feeders off the deck facing Vineyard Sound (visible from dinning room, kitchen and living room). Track daily activities of osprey (on nest off Lobsterville Road near Lighthouse Road). Observe shore birds on nearby Vineyard Sound, Menemsha Pond and Philbin beaches.

Ferry reservations: Car ferry reservations on the Steamship Authority ferries from Woods Hole are required (no standby) Friday to Monday during the peak summer season beginning June 23, 2017 and ending Labor Day weekend. During the peak season car reservations on Tuesday to Thursday are generally available and standby is permitted mid-week.

Peaceful and Secluded Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I must begin this review by stating communications with the owner were Four Seasons-quality. Bob was endlessly thoughtful as he prepared for our arrival, made travel suggestions, & fielded questions. We have explored the island in previous visits so this trip was purely about R&R & wonderfully secluded Aquinnah was our top choice. The home itself is quintessential Vineyard. Situated on a large forested lot you have plenty of privacy despite the gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows. The lower level looks out over the flora (& fauna!) & from the upper level you have sweeping views of the sea. It was perfect laying in bed watching the stars by night & the breaking waves by day. The house was properly reflected in the pictures & had everything we needed, in all regards, for our 5 night stay. Cleaning materials in the closet allowed us to tidy up a bit. Though you have access to several beaches in the area we always chose the short walk to Dogfish Bar and had it to ourselves every day. We drove into town for dinner once and were quickly reminded why we chose peaceful secluded Aquinnah-we stayed at the house the remainder of our time (:

I loved staying at this house! I was a short ride to wonderful. Philbin Beach and a short walk to Lobsterville beach. The house itself was clean, spacious and had plenty of room. We enjoyed many beach walks and nightly sunsets at West Basin Beach. Staying in Aquinnah you definitely feel like you are a world away from the rest of the island. I loved Aquinnah and I loved this house:)

Great vacation home!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great vacation home. Great design for a fairly sizable group of friends and family. Beautiful views, very close to some of the best fishing on the island at Dogfish bar, as well as a very private, sandy beach for us and the kids. Loved that we were on a more secluded area of the island, only a pretty short and scenic drive to Edgartown and right around the corner from the Gayhead cliffs. Easy landlords. Would reccommend this house very highly. Hope to visit there again.

Ahhhh - Aquinnah!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this great house without complaint! It was clean, spacious, well-equipped and casual, with more than enough space for our two families (8 total). Wonderful nearby private ocean beach access, walk to the sound side beach. Excellent spot for a totally relaxing family vacation. This is the quiet end of the island, so if you're looking for a lot of activity/action/nightlife, this might not be the place for you. For us, the slow pace is perfect. We'd definitely go to this house again, and recommend it to others.
