No Worries when you stay here

  • 5 of 5

The picture is your view from the pool. The entire complex is quiet and well maintained. Ali'i Dr is a busy road with pedestrian's and vehicles. Not so much that you can't get out into traffic. The unit itself was nice. We didn't use anything but the fridge but it is well equipped for cooking. The bed and sofa were both comfortable to sleep on. No bed bugs, I checked :) The only thing that I noticed was the caulking around the tub needs attention. I would definitely stay here again.

Convenient and comfortable. Reasonably priced !

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful view of the ocean on the courtyard/BBQ area/pool. Quiet generally with privacy on the small but nice lanai. Beach chairs and towels available for use. Convenient location for easy morning run or walk on Alii Drive. Bed was comfortable and accommodations were nice. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay.

The property manager Monica was very helpful and friendly! The condo was clean, cozy, and close to Kona. Had an excellent week there, would not hesitate to return.

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kona Shores! The apartment is just the right size for two people. We appreciated having a full kitchen, and there’s a small cooler available which was perfect for taking a picnic lunch on our day trips around the island. We brought our own snorkel gear, but we noticed there was gear stored on the deck if you didn’t bring your own.

The room was clean, the bed and couch were comfy, and the air conditioner kept things cool at night. The complex was very quiet while we were there. The pool area was a bonus—a nice pool with a lovely view of the ocean. We only used it once (we prefer snorkeling), but it seemed to be seldom used so although the pool was small, it was a nice place for a quick evening swim.

We walked into Kona nearly every evening—a great way to end the day. There are a few nearby beaches to watch the sun set, which was great.

The place is very affordable, the owners were very helpful, the wifi was greatly appreciated; we will definitely be staying here on our next visit to the Big Island!

Good economy room

  • 4 of 5

I enjoyed my visit & would stay here again. There are always pros & cons to any economy condo but the pros seem to outnumber the cons here. Bed & couch are comfortable and the linens clean (though the upper areas of condo especially the bathroom need a good dusting). There is a parking space reserved so no worries when you come home late. There was an umbrella, beach chairs, towels and ice chest available and all the basic kitchen utensils needed for a couple. There are stairs to climb and little air circulation in the room so you need to figure out the method of using the small AC unit vs a fan to cool it off during the night. (Keep the bathroom door closed at all times due to that room being so hot). The complex is older but nice and feels like home. There is a little competition for the outdoor grilling area use but everyone is friendly and met some great people during our week. Despite the no parking signs, there were a couple times guests of the full time residents parked in the car washing space that I needed to wash my dive gear each night so we had to double park & work around them. But just having the hose and space available is a huge plus. The coin laundry ate our coins and it's an outside contractor which was a bit of a problem, but the maintenance man was available and other residents helped us get more change to use another washer. The pool is small clean & has a terrific view. It gets little use so you can usually have it to yourself during the week. No real ocean access but that is normal for most of Kona. The property manager was excellent and quickly responded a couple times when called. No internet was a problem so needed to buy coffee at shop down the street each day to use their wifi. Overall a nice safe & convenient complex.

Kona Shores

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Kona Shores was excellent! The room was clean, cool, quiet (considering there are permanent residents there) and comfortable with all the amenities. The pool area had a great view of the shoreline and was also quiet for relaxing. The walk into Kona was a little longer than we thought, but totally doable. There is the Kona Trolley that passes by there to catch a ride if you don't want to walk. There is a public access down to the water about a 1/2 mile away for catching an amazing sunset. The owners of the condo were very helpful with questions/advice we had before landing on the island. This is an affordable option that I would recommend to anyone. We will be back! Thank you!

The condo is located less then 1 mile south of the center of Kona. Huggo's is a restaurant close in town. Its a great place to party on Friday nights. There is a live local band every Friday night where you can dance the night away. Located directly across from Huggo's is Bongo Bens and Humpy's which are also popular restaurants and also great places to dine. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. You will find fresh fruits and vegies at the local farmers market located right in the heart of Kona. You will also find yourself grocery shopping at Safeway, KTA, Sack and Save and Costco. There are several places to rent bikes, mopeds and jet skies if you wish. Two miles north of the condo is, Kahalu'u Beach park. This is a wonderful spot for some really great snorkeling. About a quarter of a mile before Kahalu'u is Magic Sands Beach. Magic Sands is a beautiful white sand beach. Its a popular beach to go boogie boarding and to do some serious sun bathing. Kona has a wonderful street fair once a month that features local artists. Every day is a beautiful day in Kona!
