Stunning Views Across The Historic Sweetcombe Valley & Close To The Sea
Escape to the idyllic Boswell Farm Cottages, located just a stones throw from the Jurassic coastline and beaches, and in the heart of the Devon countryside where you can relax and unwind, or head off for a day full of adventures!
Mill House was originally built in the 1850's and used as a dairy for Boswell and the outlaying farms. Now converted into a charming, spacious, character holiday cottage with private garden, which can comfortably sleep up to 5 guests, or if let conjoined with Cider House to sleep up to 11 people – ideal for large groups, family celebrations, or Hen weekends.
Shippen Cottage was built in the 1850s as a purpose built shippen, or cowshed, where the cows would have all been milked by hand. Now a pretty holiday cottage that sleeps up to 4 with enclosed private garden, which adjoins pasture and beyond with stunning views, so is very peaceful.
Boswell is an excellent touring base to visit charming Devon villages, such as Branscombe and Beer. Explore the rolling countryside, majestic sweeps of moorland at Dartmoor and Exmoor, and visit the many fascinating National Trust properties including Killerton and Castle Drogo.
The Historic towns of Lyme Regis, Ottery St Mary, Honiton (the Antiques Centre of the South West) and the Cathedral City of Exeter are all within easy reach.
There are a variety of activities to suit all ages and tastes from golf, pony trekking and equestrian activities to beautiful countryside and coastal walks or simply relaxing on one of Devon's beautiful beaches.
There are clean and safe beaches at Sidmouth and diverse activities such as sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, sea angling, swimming, theatre and the Sidmouth Folk Festival.
Close by are three golf courses, pony trekking, gliding and rock climbing.
A myriad of beautiful walks for all abilities start from your cottage door. Explore the fascinating Jurassic Coast - recently designated a World Heritage Site (ranking alongside the Great Barrier Reef, and the Grand Canyon!), where the earth's history is displayed in the coastline's geology and spectacular fossils.

About Linda Dillon
Linda has lived and worked at Boswell for over 20 years, lovingly restoring the cottages and building up a successful Pilates Class and Retreat business. On discovering Pilates, Linda studied to become a Pilates Instructor, completing an apprenticeship at Wayne Sleep's Studios in London and working with Gordon Thompson (later of Body Control Pilates fame). Linda then instructed at Wayne's studio, and at other London studios, until moving to Devon in 1994.
Linda Dillon purchased this Cottage in 1994
Why Linda Dillon chose Sidmouth
Boswell House is grade II listed and was built in the 17th century but the site dates back to pre-Norman times - ‘Boswell' being mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. In around 1860 Boswell became a working farm and has remained so until today, with many of the original buildings and features intact. Boswell Farm nestles alongside the Snod Brook in the secluded tranquil / peaceful Sweetcombe Valley, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In fact the word ‘snod' is a medieval word meaning pretty. There are breathtaking views across a timeless landscape, the valley with its woods and the fields that climb its slopes. Here is an abundance of wildlife - badgers, deer, buzzards and kingfishers to mention but a few.

She can also offer one to one sessions, for both beginners and more advanced students, and if required can tailor a complete and personal programme. Boswell also has its own serene natural lake that is well stocked for coarse fishing - a great place for the keen angler. There is the well stocked lake for coarse fishing, or if you prefer there is even fishing available for brown trout in the Snod Brook which runs right though Boswell Farm. There are also comfortable benches if you just want to take in the calm of the water on a warm Devon evening... It is the perfect place for an afternoon sitting on the shady bank with a fishing rod or a picnic basket - whichever takes your fancy!
