Wonderful location. House needs work & not as good as description
Overall very good. Price somewhat high because of minor problems with house condition. Location perfect
Nice Place. Great Location. Needs Maintenance and a Deep Cleaning.
Half a block from the beach on a quiet, dead-end street that ends in sand dunes. The street itself is gravel and full of potholes, but the location is wonderful for exploring the miles of beach and walking into the lovely town of Manzanita. The house itself doesn't make much of a first impression. It is dark and messy and does not have any identifiable landscaping anywhere.
The kitchen is small and well-equipped and functional for one. The smoke alarm seems to go off just because of cooking. No smoke is necessary so you have to be sure to use the fan and open all of the doors and windows when you are cooking. There was very little space in cupboards to store the items we brought. The cool chandelier above the dining table holds tea lights as do the two sconces in the dining area. But there weren't any and candles seem a bad idea anyway. The little, battery-operated ones would have been nice because the table lamps surrounding the dining room were too low to give proper illumination.
The bathrooms were clean and everything worked fine. There are nice towels for both bathing and the hot tub. It was great to have a large capacity washer and dryer to get all of the wet, dirty clothes and towels clean quickly. The beds were comfy. My grandsons enjoyed the hot tub at least once each day. It was warm and clean. It was also nice to have a fenced backyard for my dog to use. That is really the only use for the backyard and a small dog can actually go underneath the house, so I always stayed out there to make sure she did not get into trouble. The deck off the living room area is worn and dirty as is the deck furniture. We spent little time there. Part of the barbecue crumbled when I tried to brush the dirt off it, not all of the elements lit and the grill was filthy. But we were able to use it twice after cleaning it and using a match to light it. It seemed the house could have used a preseason deep cleaning and maintenance. The windows were filthy, the oven was dirty, there were bugs in the light fixtures, dust on the baseboard heaters and windowsills, cobwebs in the corners and a big hole in the wall of the twin bedroom. The place needs some love.
Loved Manzanita. Beach access from the house was more difficult than this gimpy gal anticipated due to long access through a dune on soft sand, but the access from Laneda and other streets was easy. Plenty of parking near the beach at all times. The house is well equipped, a bit short on food storage space, but a little creativity was all that was needed. Great table seats 8, so good for dining and gaming. Interesting hot tub with odd and sparse jets, but we enjoyed it anyway. Queen bed was very soft and we rolled to the middle, but the other beds were great. We would definitely return to this property.
Exactly as advertised
Nice getaway. Very close to the beach and cozy cabin with wood burner. Had a comfy stay. Thank you!
Comfortable house and clean hot tub. Has everything you need, unless you need a TV. Qe could live without one as there is a lot to do in the area.
Wonderful Manzanita Gettaway!
This is a great beach house and weekend escape. I will come back for sure.
Manzanita is only a 90 minute drive from Portland, Oregon.
