Great Family Times at Sleeping Bear Lodge

  • 5 of 5

We spent a long weekend at Sleeping Bear Lodge in early March to enjoy the Snowboarding and Skiing at nearby Pine Mountain in Iron Mountain. My three kids loved the cabin and the pool table made for some competitive family fun. The view from the windows are fantastic and the seclusion is second to none.

We will be Back!!

Thanks Rick!

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your winter weekend! We would love to have you back in the summer or fall when your kids can enjoy trout fishing in the lake, hiking, and bear watching. BTW The golf course at Pine Mountain is a 5 star course. Thanks for the review!

Best, largest, and cleanest Cabin / Lodge in northern Wisconsin

  • 5 of 5

This is our 4th time here to SBL (Sleeping Bear Lodge). If you want a vacation with peace and nature then this is your destination. Your are on 400+ acres of private land with miles of well manicured trails for ATV or Snowmobiling and even hiking. 2 shooting ranges, one for long guns and one for handguns. A private lake with jon boat, 2 person kayak, canoe, and a paddle boat!

Fishing on the lake is amazing! We caught 9 rainbow trout , 3 perch, and countless large pan fish. Woke up to turkeys out in the open area (hint, if you have a wireless speaker go to youtube and find turkey call video and play it loud off of the deck and we kept the turkey around for awhile to watch them).

The house/cabin/lodge what ever you want to call it is very large and not at all your typical rental property. It is stocked with most everything you need and is clean like your own home. No bugs, no dust, just clean and perfect! Our family has rented well over 20+ homes across the country and we dont even look for another one in Wisconsin when coming here.

Rick the owner is super easy to work with and always accommodating. Joe and Rachel the caretakers of the property and home are also the best people to have if you need them for anything. Joe meets you when you arrive and gives you the full info on the property and knowledge of the area and wildlife. Then you wont see him or anyone again until you leave. But they are only right on the main road if you need them for anything.

Overall your dealing with good people here and not some management company. Beautiful clean home and the most amazing views and serenity you can ask for.

Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Sleeping Bear Lodge far exceeded all expectations. While snowmobiling in Eagle River and snow tubing at Ski Brule were highlights, we enjoyed snowshoeing and relaxing around the property the most. We also enjoyed conversing with Joe, who takes care of the property and made sure we had everything we needed for the perfect vacation. As part native American, we found his knowledge and respect for the land and wildlife very interesting. We have rented many homes and villas over the years, but found this property's amenities, serenity, privacy, and overall beauty the best. Thank you Rick and Joe for a very memorable vacation, we will be back soon.

Winter Wonderland!

  • 5 of 5

We just enjoyed an amazing week at Sleeping Bear Lodge. The pictures do not come close in capturing the overall beauty of this property. While snowmobiling in Eagle River and the new year's eve festivities at Ski Brule were highlights, we enjoyed snowshoeing and relaxing at the property the most. We also enjoyed conversing with Joe, who takes care of the property and makes sure you have everything you need for the perfect vacation. As part native American, we found his knowledge and respect for the land and wildlife in the area very interesting. Over the years, we have rented many homes and villas, but found this property's amenities, serenity, and privacy the best. We found Sleeping Bear Lodge offering the perfect combination of fun outdoor activities and relaxing by the fire while reading a book or playing cards. Thank you Rick(owner) and Joe for a very memorable vacation. We will be back soon.

I finally found the perfect rental property. Sleeping Bear Lodge!

  • 5 of 5

I pride myself on finding the finest rentals and Sleeping Bear Lodge is hands down the best of the best. The cabin is stocked with every amenity you could hope for from the ultra-comfy beds to heater fans in the bathrooms. There's even a bidet in the master bath. (no kids, that's not a fountain or an eyewash station!) The kitchen has everything you need. Plenty of books and games and entertainment options if you need a break from the natural Eden just outside your door. Being small business owners, we appreciated the Wi-Fi when we needed to keep in touch with the office. The property is a true nature lover's paradise, and very, very private. Our dog loved running on the sand beach and watching the deer that visited the far side of the private lake every day like clockwork. He also took adantage of the posh dog bed in the lower level while we watched DVDs on the large flat screen with surround sound. Gas grill or charcoal? How about both! (bring your own charcoal but propane is provided) We spent hours on the upper level deck enjoying the fresh air and the view of the lake as well as star gazing at night. There is also a fire pit by the beach and plenty of cut wood for burning. There is great hiking and paddling in the area. If you are a hunter, ATV rider or snow mobiler, this is the place for you. 6 miles of trails on the property and many more miles of trails in the immediate area. If you are a golfer, there are several nice courses within 45 minutes of the cabin. Plenty of restaurants and retail within 15 minutes in Iron Mountain, MI.

Joe the caretaker is wonderful man who makes you feel like a friend from the get go. He and his family live just outside the property and can be there in a snap if you need them, yet they give you all of the privacy you desire.

Many thanks to the owners for sharing such a special place and for being dog-friendly. We will certainly return.

Wonderful week of solitude!

  • 5 of 5

This lodge was exactly as described and more. It was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The chairs are awesome! All you need to bring is clothes and food. Everything else is there. The property is very well maintained. The care keepers and owner were very helpful. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who loves the peace of the north woods.

We can't recommend any activities outside the property because we never felt the need to leave. We loved the trails for four wheeling and the gun range. We didn't want to leave and will be going back next year.
