Fabulous Sun Rises & Sun Sets
Married for 44 years to my best friend. Together we have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren. I grew up in Indiana and my bride grew up in Pennsylvania. We moved to Dallas for law school in the '70's. I wanted a place in the mountains and she wanted a place at the beach. She won. This has been our family's vacation home since we started building it in 2005. Over the past 10 years in Galveston we have survived a recession, Hurricane Ike and a couple of tornadoes. We rent to family and friends. We enjoy talking to every potential guest to make sure the property will be a good fit.
Tom Lochry purchased this cottage in 2006
Our family likes beach vacations, whether in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Atlantic or Pacific. We especially like feel the sand between our toes in a natural, uncrowded environment. We do not like extended air or car travel anymore. The Texas Gulf Coast and the West End of Galveston Island was the closest place we could find that fit our time and money budgets. We wanted a "kid magnet" for parents, children, grandchildren, schnauzers and guests to make family memories at the beach. We named the house Anne Mare after the middle names of our two daughters.
A beach side location with no sea wall means you have to build on stilts, but in return you get a real beach with lots of birding, fishing, cycling and kayaking opportunities. Fantastic sun rises and sun sets. Hear the surf from the balcony. Enjoy the stars and the lighted fountains at night! Hike, bike or cart around the 1000 acre resort. Cook out under the house. Go surf fishing or crabbing. A beach resort community with the feel of a neighborhood.
"Great Time In Galveston"
We had the best time! Place smelled so clean & pristine! Shelling the beaches! We walked @ night & saw rise of harvest moon, planets & stars. Beach & area so safe @ night... So unlike our June trip on Seawall.... Please share our comments online w/ VRBO....
This is the first time we did not stay on the busy Seawall Blvd. We decided to try this beachhouse and it was awesome! Comfortable beds, nicely decorated and very clean. The private beach was wonderful! No crowds and very peaceful. The resort was just as described and the pool was just like the photo with a view to the ocean. This was a great family getaway for us and we liked it so much everyone agreed that we will not be returning to the Seawall Blvd. Thanks for letting us share your beachhouse!
Nice home, but the air conditioner never got cooler than 75, until the morning we left, 4 days later. We notified the owner the second day, and also informed him that both large trash cans were almost totally full when we got there. The beds were very comfortable, but the living room ceiling fan and light fixture looked like it was going to fall off at any minute. All in all, it was a pretty nice place, as long as you don't want to be cool in house.
The house was clean, fresh and had all the necessities, including an electric grill and golf cart. The beach was moments away walking and a great beach club made the whole experience outstanding. I also would like to mention the balcony and patio outside downstairs was a plus for the little one. There is short drive down the pike to several seafood restaurants. The owner of the property was very professional and thorough. We will definitely have a return visit to Anne. Marie house.
Good location for a family gathering, easy access to the beach. Beach Club has great amenities, house is clean and comfortable. We'll be back!
The property is cute, nicely furnished with comfy beds. Clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials and extras like a drip coffee pot, toaster and blender. Even had a crab trap and dip nets in the garage! The golf cart was a huge plus and fun to use on the property. The house is not right on the beach, but very close. We could hear the surf from the house. Very soothing. We did not bring our dog since our first time, but think the house and location are dog friendly. The Clubhouse is great if you have small children. We were there during spring break and the pool was very crowded with young children who were also using the hot tub as a pool with no apparent parental supervision. (Only real negative the entire trip.) If you are an adult during a peak time, wouldn't recommend the pools for swimming. Stick to the beach or just sun by the pools. The beach is private and just enough people for great people watching but not too crowded either. The owner was extremely helpful and easy to work with. We had a wonderful time and absolutely recommend this house on Galveston Island.
We had the time of our life, the house was amaizing, the beach was so close, everything was so clean and neat. We can not wait to go back, we are just in love with the place 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
