About the property

3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, sleeps 4-6

Relax in a 2,400 square foot Ralph Matheson custom designed North Coast style home. The Arcadia House at the Sea Ranch enjoys full sun and awesome 180 degree panoramic views of the North Pacific coast overlooking the 15th hole at Sea Ranch Golf Course!

Every room has a great ocean view! Deer stroll by daily and numerous birds frequent the area. A short walk leads to the Pacific Ocean, Rec Center, Pro Shop and well maintained trails. Drive two minutes to nearby Gualala for food, wine, restaurants, shops, medical and church services.

The main living area is on the upper level and offers true panoramic views of the entire Sea Ranch coast. This level includes well appointed living, dining, kitchen, deck, office and master bed rooms. There are two fireplaces here. One in the living room and another in the master bed room. The lower level has two spacious bedrooms and wonderful views of the ocean from all the large windows.

The spacious living and dining rooms have enough comfortable couches, chairs and seats for more than eight to enjoy the view, catch up on things, watch cable TV or a DVD/VHS movie and savor a fine meal. You can choose to see golfers (or not) work the 15th hole as you enjoy your friends and family in comfort. At night with the lights out star gazing is amazing here as well as on the adjacent deck. A half bath is located between the living and dining rooms.

The kitchen has everything you need to prepare, serve and cleanup for your next feast. A large island gives a great area for showing all those great treats as well as providing extra seating area. The deck is a few steps away from the kitchen and dining rooms. Besides having a gas BBQ grill, picnic table and chairs you get an unencumbered 180 degree view along the entire Sea Ranch coast.

An office with small library, video collection, and game selection is located off of the living room. In addition to the ocean view to the west you can see the trees and mountains to the east. Secure wireless internet access available throughout the home.

A carpeted stairway leads to the lower level two large bed rooms each with a great view of the Sonoma coast. Both have large closets and a comfortable couch. The north bed room has a queen bed, overstuffed chair and cable TV with VCR. The south bed room has two full beds. A large bath room, just like the master bath room (but without the Jacuzzi), is located at one end of the connecting hall and a fully equipped laundry room towards the other. A door at the end leads to the two car garage.

Golf, dive, fish, bike, or hike along the spectacular Sea Ranch coastal area. There are nearby facilities for swimming, sauna, basketball and tennis.

Enjoy plenty of beaches:

• Whalewatch Point • Tide Pool Beach • Pebble Beach • Shell Beach • Walk on Beach • and many more

Hike along numerous trails:

• Bluff Trail • Chapel Trail • Pomo Creek Trail • Azalea Loop Trail • Monarch Glen Trail • and lots more

Guestbook comments from the owner

While Mum & Dad & Aunt & Uncle were at St. Ocres for dinner and little

brother was asleep, we enjoyed telling stories, dancing, playing Candyland,

and watching a movie. Sea Ranch is a great representative of California's

beautiful coast! Thanks for the great evening!

My family and I rented Arcadia House at the Sea Ranch over Thanksgiving weekend. The photos of the house online looked lovely, and we were looking forward to what was supposed to be the perfect holiday getaway. It wasn’t long before Arcadia House crushed our dreams with its disgusting reality.

Immediately upon entering the house, we were completely overwhelmed by the musty foul stench that let us know immediately that we’d definitely rented the wrong house. At one time this was probably a very nice house, but that was probably back in the 1980’s. The dated fixtures, finishes, and gross carpet throughout the house had not held up well over years of use. To say that this house was overall UNCLEAN would be a GROSS understatement! It seems like the weather sealing on the windows was no longer efficient, and the carpet areas near the windows had a very strong aroma of mildew and were damp to the touch. Once we ventured downstairs, the musty stench became unbearable. We were forced to leave all of the windows and doors open in a futile attempt to air out the house. No amount of candles burning or air freshener spray seemed to overcome the musty smell. The shower in the downstairs bathroom was covered with black mold, and one of our guests complained that he was sick for weeks after staying in one of the downstairs bedrooms. On top of these cleanliness/health issues, nothing in the house seemed to work very well. The TV reception was terrible, and very few channels were available at all. The Wi-Fi was horrible and made streaming movies on Netflix or videos on any other online platforms impossible. The heater also left a lot to be desired. If you had the heat on high enough to keep it comfortable upstairs, then the downstairs felt like you were in a stinky oven. The furniture in the house was very old and uncomfortable. There were wood blocks holding up the sofa, and a few of the dining room chairs were falling apart with no glue in the pegs holding them together. We have stayed in other houses in Sea Ranch before, and Arcadia House was so awful compared to the other houses. To add insult and injury, a few days after we returned home we received a bill for $100.00 (which the deducted from our security deposit) for repairs on one of the chairs that was already broken. We called the property owner about ten different times trying to get the $100 refunded, but he won't return our calls. Beware, do not rent this house!

Owner's Response: The Arcadia house is a beautiful and clean custom home with classic appointments throughout. The biggest limitation faced in our coastal location has been the access to reliable television and internet services. We currently have the only cable option available for television and internet but upgraded to high speed fiber internet at the end of 2016. While the roll out is still ongoing we are constantly working to improve access. We look at all reviews and listen to our customers. This unknown reviewer, Nicholas, however, left extreme exaggerations and untruths two months after the referenced stay we believe primarily because we charged for damages they caused to our furniture. The entry in our Guest book was quite the opposite with glowing praise for our home and the time they spent there. We can’t post a photo of it here but Shana wrote, “ … the house was the perfect place to have the party! Everyone enjoyed the views and the many games after dinner. It will be a night my mother will always cherish. Thank you!” The next visitor also wrote, “Great house and views. Had a very enjoyable time with family and friends. Was a pleasure. Thank you very much …”. We know that web trashing is a common vent for the disgruntled these days but we think most people will be able to see through this one.

Sea Ranch Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We thought the space the house offered was really awesome. The views were also top notch! Quite amazing. The house lacked in the cleanliness department (we dealt with some bugs, mostly dead, and it was obvious the house needed some deep cleaning) and it also didn't have much in the way of necessary items like toilet paper and garbage bags. Most vrbo homes provide more than enough of those types of items. The kitchen was well decked out, and we enjoyed a fire in the fireplace several times. It's Close to the town of Gualala, and there are many amazing trails to hike and scenic views to enjoy!

The steep stairs outside leading to the front door were a concern for me with my 85 year old dad.

Nice view and decorations

  • 5 of 5

We LOVE this house! Nice ocean view (not right by the beach but Northern Cal is too cold for any beach activities for the most part anyways). We love the library with all sorts of books and games. Also love the alcove in the living room. Kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans. We saw deer one early morning right on the golf course. Overall, lovely area to visit. The only thing is downstairs is nice but a bit darker than upstairs (we still love everything though). Oh, one more thing, the owner was just a delight to work with.
