About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 6 Baths, (Sleeps 12-16)

This spectacular vacation compound on Lake Travis can accommodate groups of families or friends. Two authentic 1850's log cabins offer private bedrooms while a huge timber-frame building provides central living, dining and a gourmet kitchen designed for multiple cooks, all with lake views.

The 3 historic buildings that make up Moriah have been meticulously restored into a private retreat in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Moriah has been featured in the Austin American Statesman, Country Home Magazine and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

About The Owner

In 2000 we (two sisters and our families) purchased this property to accommodate our large family gatherings. We had been frustrated over the years with the facilities we had found to accommodate our vacations together. In designing Moriah, we took the best features of the various places we had visited to create a compound specifically for several families to vacation together with ease.

Shortly after we bought Moriah, another sister (one of six sisters, and, yes, we have one brother) bought the adjacent property. Now, between the two properties, there is room for us all to be comfortable even when all 28 show up.

The Owner purchased this house in 2000

Why The Owner chose Lake LBJ

We chose this location because there are activities for people of all ages. Volleyball, ping pong, swimming, boating, walking in the country, sitting on the porch - no one is ever bored. Located just one hour from Austin, it is easy to get away even for just a weekend.

What makes this house unique

We love the fact that the bedrooms are in separate buildings so that those who are sleeping aren’t disturbed by the people who are awake - no matter how boisterous they become. The kitchen, optimized for multiple cooks offers two sinks, two dishwashers and two refrigerators. A refrigerator for drinks is located at one of two entries to the kitchen so that the cooks aren’t disrupted every time someone comes to the kitchen for a drink.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow...what a wonderful place to spend the 4th of July with our family. Moriah was everything we hoped for and more!! This place is amazing and we cannot wait to return. Moriah is as close to heaven as it gets.

Perfect group getaway spot!

  • 5 of 5

We chose Moriah for a reunion of old college friends who now all have small kids. It was the perfect location for kids to run around, learn to fish, play games, make s'mores in the fire pit while us adults appreciated the comfortable beds, large kitchens and separate spaces for hanging out after the kids went to bed. We look forward to going back again soon!

Excellent Property for Family & Friend Gatherings

  • 5 of 5

From the moment you walk up the property, you're instantly in love! The two sleeping cabins are cozy and great for large groups (and having four full size bathrooms is very convienent).

The main house is amazing!!! Beautiful decor, a full gourmet kitchen, seating for 20, a loft upstairs with games, two bathrooms and a spacious back porch. We hosted a New Year's Eve gathering for family and friends and it turned out perfect.

One note: the property is quite dark at night, so we went to the local Home Depot and bought 10 tiki torches to place around the property for additional light. Worked well and only cost around $30.

Overall, I would reccomend this property for anyone looking for an escape from the city and a place to spend quality time with family.

Thank you Susan and Nancy for all your help!

9 girls pull up to Moriah, the land, the house, the cabins.......literally breathtaking! Our hearts were actually pounding, we couldn't believe that this was going to be our home for 4 days. It was perfect! We WILL be returning to Moriah! Nothing but smiles and laughs!

A Very Special Place for our Large Group

  • 5 of 5

I plan a college reunion every summer, and earlier this year we met for the 8th straight year. This was our third year to go to Moriah/Farr Side, and I can't say enough how much we love the property. Our group has been as small as 25 people and as large as 45, including 4-8 young children, and every time we have found the property to be exactly what we needed. Moriah/Farr Side offers a variety of sleeping options, and we've always been comfortable and relaxed on the property. It's a perfect place for weekend full of time spent cooking, swimming, and catching up with friends and family. Nancy has been helpful and accommodating for our group, and we look forward to returning every year. Only about 10 minutes from Marble Falls, it is a particularly easy property to find (as opposed to similar properties I've rented in the past). I highly recommend staying at Moriah/Farr Side. It has always had everything we needed, and it's a special place.

Great Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a company retreat, and the Moriah is perfectly designed for medium and large groups. The kitchen was set up beautifully, so we were able to have team building events around food. I would highly recommend this location to anyone. Make sure you get good directions because a few people were lost and the owners had to help us explain how to get to the property. Also, they don't have wifi, but we were able to use a hotspot through our phones. Again, this was a great property, and the owner's went above and beyond making us feel comfortable and taking care of any questions we had. They were on the phone with one of our guests for 10 minutes helping them find the location since their maps took them somewhere else. Great people!

Really an ideal property for medium + large groups

  • 5 of 5

We really loved the property and its offerings. The cabins and main lodge are of the 'rustic luxury' sort and a great, comfortable to enjoy rural Texas. Everything went smoothly and was as described. The manager's communication was prompt and thorough -- great to work with as we prepped for our friends' getaway weekend. The only caveats I will bring to the attention of renters is that a) there are stickers/thorns galore in the lawn so be careful if you have kids and b) the lake, on this occasion, was actually really high so we were swimming among treetops and brush for the fist 100 ft or so until it opens up more into the open river. It's mostly very shallow (waist high) until the main river part where it becomes deep and boaters use that. Gently flowing, refreshing water though. We had fun all the same -- bring floaties! I would not hesitate to re-book this property for a future trip! Highly recommended.
