House, 4 Bedrooms + hot tub, (3.5 Baths, Sleeps 10)
Two families that live in Roanoke, Virginia own Hammock 50 @ Pirate's Cove. The families owned a whole grain bread store in Roanoke, Virginia from 1995-2002. It's at this point that they discovered the Outer Banks of North Carolina and the breathtaking vistas of the shore. Soon after this, they purchased the home from a sea captain and began the journey.
Owner purchased this House in 2006
Why Owner chose Manteo
'When are we going to get there,' is what we heard from the backseat as we headed down the road to OBX about 10 years ago. When these six children finally got there, they discovered the many adventures that OBX offered. And, Pirate's Cove seemed like the perfect place to drop anchor. We want to share our little oasis with the many travelers that choose the Outer Banks. The six kids live in Roanoke, VA with their beautiful moms and fishing crazy fathers. One day we will get there again, ENJOY!
What makes this House unique
Did I mention the views. The gorgeous sunsets over Manteo, the continuous parade of fishing boats. Two pools, a fitness center, two play areas, tennis courts, a marina, a restaurant and raw bar and that's not even leaving the campus. Great for biking, walking, strolling or generally just hanging out with a favorite beverage looking over the Roanoke Sound and contemplating life's next adventure. Which could be the Aquarium, the Sand Dunes, the Beach, Kitty Hawk Kites, the Wright Brothers Memorial, a great restaurant, the Tanger Outlets, the Whalebone Tackle Shop, the cute shops in Manteo, etc.

Wonderful getaway destinationn
We thoroughly enjoyed our mini family reunion last weekend. The reservation process was seamless, the house was gorgeous and very comfortable. The panoramic views of the marsh and sound were breathtaking every time I stepped into the living room. New sofas and chairs were both handsome and cushie. My bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Check in information was slow at first and I had to email the owner, but he responded almost immediately. When the welcome letter came through it was very detailed with lots of helpful information. Overall, I give it 4 1/2 stars because it was a wonderful home to visit, but with room to improve on the seasonal wear and tear that is an ongoing process. I highly recommend Hammock 50!
Great property great stay
Beautiful home. Could use some TLC with paint and some updating. Regardless, gorgeous home and location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hammock 50. The house was perfect for our party of 8. The view was amazing. We especially enjoyed the dock and convenient boating. Check in was very easy, although we did have to wait a while for the cleaning crew to leave. That wasn't a problem and the house was very clean. It was a bit too hot for us to use the hot tub but it was MUCH bigger than I thought it would be. We had no issues and never had to contact the owners about any problems. We already discussed booking this property again next year. Thank you homeowners!
Excellent vacation spot
Fantastic house and service from the owner, great location!
The house was beautiful with plenty of space for our family. This was our first time in the Outer Banks and didn't now what to expect but the owners provided great recommendation for local dining, attractions, and shopping. The property and community was well maintained, plus the community center offered events for the kids and adults to do all week long. The pool was clean and comfortable temp with plenty of space for everyone. Would definitely recommend this place for others visiting the area.
Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. So peaceful. Great location, close to many attractions. House was clean and very spacious. Owners gave great advice on places to try and activities to do. Check in was very easy. Amenities were nice and restaurant on site had very good clam chowder!
