About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5-6)

On over two acres of Oceanfront, 'Bayberry' Cottage at Ridgevale Beach faces the temperate waters of Nantucket Sound. It is ideally situated at Ridgevale Beach and the mouth of 'Buck's Creek' a beautiful tidal estuary offering great swimming, boating, and shellfishing, as well as spectacular views. Shorebirds, from tiny Sanderlings to the Great Blue Heron, are frequent visitors. The Sundeck provides a relaxing spot for enjoying it all.

Inside, each window frames a portrait of open ocean, river, or salt marsh. The cottage is heated, and comfortably furnished with fireplaced living room, full kitchen, two bedrooms, and bath. CABLE TV, VCR, DVD, WIRELESS INTERNET, AIR CONDITIONING and outdoor gas grills and kayaks are also provided. In addition, the cottage has a private outdoor shower, a simple and delicious pleasure after a day on the beach.

We are open year round, and between November and March, are treated to fantastic ocean sunsets! For summertime, reservations are necessary well in advance. In the quieter off-seasons, we can often accommodate guests on short notice.

In a word, spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

We had just a wonderful time here. Scott is an awesome, cooperative and knowledgeable host. Chatham is terrific for anything you'd want, and the pictures speak to the amazing scenery, morning or night it's literally breath taking. We've been to the Caribbean, the entire east coast and Europe, and this is as enjoyable, peaceful and natural a time as any you can find. Your vacation time here will indeed be well spent. I can't wait to get back.

Sunset skies

  • 5 of 5

When I read a review I think do I believe this....well believe it I’ve been there. Scott and Annie are excellent hosts, there to help but not intrusive and it is obvious how much they enjoy having visitors to stay in their cottages.

I love being by the sea, and being so close to it was a real bonus. We were there in October so most of the time we had the beach to ourselves, except for the the occasional fisherman and at weekends when a few local families came with their children, the weather was that good. An evening stroll along a deserted beach watching a spectacular sunset unfold is something else. And there were the daily delights of beach combing, bird watching......and a visit from a seal. Some days we just stayed at home, cooked our bacon and eggs on the barbecue and relaxed with a cold beer.

The cottage was adequately equipped and would comfortably fit 4 adults, 6 would be a bit of a squeeze but doable and even though there was no washing machine it was easy enough to hand wash and dry outside.....who doesn’t like air dried clothes. And the outdoor shower was a definite hit even though it was October.

South Chatam is nicely situated on the ‘elbow’ of Cape Cod , so easy driving to any place you want to visit, just factor in enough time, the Cape is bigger than I thought . Traffic wasn’t a problem as we were there out of the main season, during the season I understand it’s much busier.

There is plenty to do on the Cape, but if you need more try a ferry trip over to Martha’s Vineyard.

We like to treat ourselves when we are in America, so decided to take an open cockpit bi-plane ride from Chatam to Provincetown, with Stick’N Rudder Aero Tours, located 5 minutes up yore Road. It was a blue sky day and the knowledgeable pilot was able to point out many landmarks and explain the history of what we saw.

I would definitely return to the Oceanfront beach cottages, and have already recommended them to friends.

This was my ideal chill or explore holiday. I would definitely stay there again.

Thanks Scott and Annie.

Absolutely Amazing

  • 5 of 5

This was our second long weekend at this cottage. The first one was mid-winter of ‘17. The cottage is perfect for four people. It is neat and clean and very comfortable. The views are truly amazing, the beach is literally right there. It is about a one minute walk. A short drive gets you into town for shopping and restaurants.

Scott has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. We discovered on this second stay, that a long weekend is not long enough time here. We will be booking a week here next fall.

Spectacular Spot

  • 5 of 5

It’s difficult to put it all into words so we highly recommend you come experience this place for yourselves. This is a great place to bring the family for a week. The cottage was in great condition, secluded, and there’s an awesome lawn with a great view of Bucks Creek to grill, hang out on and for the kids to play on when you’re not at the beach. Everything Chatham has to offer is a short drive away if you stay here. You get a great view of the ocean from the front of the cottage and you’re only 150 yards from a top notch beach for kids. Have a cocktail on the front porch at the end of the day and you’ll really appreciate not having to pack up the car and kids after a beach day.

Scott and Anne were great hosts. Not intrusive at all and they had great recommendations for everything Chatham has to offer. They genuinely wanted to make sure we had a great stay and we did! Not a question of if we’ll be back, just a question of when.

Amazing location, great hosts

  • 5 of 5

The cottages are truly beachfront, as you are closer to the ocean than the beach parking lot, and during low tide the Bucks Creek entrance to the beach is just across the driveway. Having three small kids, we loved the extremely convenient beach access and not having to lug everything back to the car when coming and going. In terms of the broader location, that was also great, as downtown Chatham was a short drive away, and it was centrally located for activities in Hyannis in one direction and the outer Cape in the other direction. The property is very well maintained inside and out. Layout worked well for our family of five. Scott was the perfect balance of very helpful and friendly but not intrusive. He had great recommendations for restaurants and activities. Overall, the location, quality, and hosts made this our most enjoyable Cape vacation, and we are excited for return trips.

Just what we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

Having lived on the Outer Cape for over a decade, I gravitate there when I return for a visit. This is the first time I lobbied for Chatham with my bride. I reasoned there were a number of wonderful places to hike, good food close by, and easy access to other parts of the Cape. Of that, I knew what I was talking about. I couldn't know in advance we chose an ideal place to stay: A cute, well-appointed and functional cottage in a beautiful setting with a friendly, thoughtful and reasonable owner. We lacked for nothing.
