About Tracie Silkwood

We are Steve and Tracie Silkwood and we have 5 children, all grown now. We live in Houston, Texas and attend Calvary Community Church.

Tracie Silkwood purchased this cabin in 1999

Why Tracie Silkwood chose Tennessee

We found Tranquility Gate in October of 1998 while on a retreat with several other couples from Texas. The vision for the cabin is for couples, families and businessmen to have a place where they can 'retreat' and find a time of rest and rejuvenation from the business of this world.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabin is very spacious allowing folks to spread out either inside or on the wrap around porch. There are plenty of bathrooms as well!

The road up to our cabin is paved and well maintained. It is a typical mountain road but nothing nothing extremely steep. Our driveway is gently sloping and rocked and has ample parking for 6 cars. If parking is coordinated you can back into a turn around and drive out forward.

We loved it! Pictures do not do justice. Everything needed is there except the food! Very spacious and roomy. Loved the two ovens. Beds very comfortable.

The Martin Family

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 11 felt like we had come back home. We have spent many long weekends since 2003 or 2004 getting together with family at Tranquility. There have been many updates made since our last visit. New sectional couch, new carpet on basement steps, new refrigerator, additional small table with leaf in kitchen, picnic table outside with fire pit. The kitchen and pantry are very well stocked. We had a great time as usual and enjoyed this special place that is very near and dear to our hearts. We feel that God has blessed this house and we are able to share in that blessing every time we are here.

Wonderful house; so spacious! W e loved the location. 40 minutes to Cades Cove (not like the internet map has but we had little traffic). 10 min. to Pigeon Forge. We parked ar the Visitors Center outside Gatlinburg and took the trolley car there.

This place is prefect!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 17 (5 generations) stayed here and we had more than enough room. It felt like home! Peaceful and secluded feel, but close to Pigeon Forge. We will definitely be back. The owners communicate promptly and are very well organized.

Spacious, Very Clean, Large Driveway, Great Environment

  • 5 of 5

For more than 25 years, our family had annual reunions at the same cabin at a state park in Tennessee. This year, we gathered at Tranquility Gate. Our rental was made exclusively via the internet by looking at pictures and trusting the owner descriptions of their cabin. The pictures cannot show the warmth and cleanliness of this spacious cabin home. All of us agreed that we look forward to spending another week at Tranquility Gate next year. Golf, good eating, shopping and many other entertainment adventures are nearby. What fun we had! And, at the end of the day, we returned to a large driveway and a spacious, clean cabin. You have to see it.
