About the property

Charming Honeymoon Cottage

What could be more cozy than a Mountain log cabin. For any season, our tiny but buffed, Honeymoon Cabin is perfect for your Sun Valley vacation. Built as a hunting cottage in 1945, this authentic 750 square foot log cabin has been carefully & completely restored preserving it's historic character and relaxed charm, representing a tradition and way of life that has disappeared in Sun Valley.

Nestled in the quiet neighborhood of West Ketchum and one-half mile from town, you're walking distance to shopping, restaurants, entertainment and nightlife.

PROPERTY LOCATION: The River Run Lodge & ski lifts are one mile south. Free local bus service two blocks away takes you to Ketchum, Sun Valley, Warm Springs and the ski lifts. The Wood River Trail System, a renowned 30+ kilometer paved and machine groomed former railway system, is three blocks away offering world biking, walking and Nordic skiing. Access to the Big Wood River, famous for fly fishing, is a short walk down the road.

How about this stunning, recently remodeled custom Kitchen ? Highlights are top-shelf appliances, sophisticated finishes, dimmable low-voltage European lighting, organic, natural materials and articulated details. The centerpiece features a 24” four-burner professional BlueStar all gas range & convection oven, a cooking lover’s dream. The Energy-Star super quiet Blomberg Frig/Freezer and Bosch Dishwasher are both integrated into the wood cabinetry ... hand-painted, layered and patina’d a soft butter color. Finishing off this lovely kitchen is a Shaw’s fireclay apron sink, hand-troweled concrete countertops, and hand-crafted, sand casted solid bronze hardware. You won’t need any kitchen tools or small appliances ... this kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, cutlery, cookware, tableware, china place settings, cloth napkins, everything you’ll need. There is a Weber gas grille on the back patio for grilling.

The Cabin also has a new Blomberg Energy Star super quiet, automated Washer and Dryer. So pack light, bring less clothes, and wash your exercise clothing or whatever you want as often as you like.

The Cabin is furnished with country pine antiques & cupboards accessorized with forged hardware and rustic western collectibles. Native, indigenous woods take hold of the living areas - Chinked three sided log walls, lodge pole window sills & trim, fir fireplace mantle, alder and fir doors. Aged and refinished original fir wood floors provide a warm, cuddly glow to the interior. New doors and large windows supply ample natural light. The floor to ceiling rock fireplace of regional stone is the focal point of the great room that affords comfort and livability. There's a gaming table with 4 Old Hickory Hoop chairs and assorted games, TV & VCR with extensive cable service, and stereo with iPod Dock. Super comfy Down stuffed chairs and oversized leather love seat nicely finish out the furnishings.

Wireless WiFi Internet is provided.

The property is particularly well landscaped and professionally cared for with paver walks & patio, surrounded by wonderful gardens stuffed with flowering annuals, perennials and deciduous shrubs, displaying vibrant species of color from May to October. Wildflowers and native grasses make the transition from manicured sod lawn to a perimeter of aspen, willow, maple & fir trees, completely fenced for privacy. The backyard offers up sun and shade, is private and quiet, with a lovely native field stone patio laced with thymes & herbs. There you will find wrought iron outdoor furniture with a 9 foot Market umbrella and Weber gas grille. A great place to hang out in the summertime, sip wine, take a nap, BBQ and entertain guests.

Magical

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the most magical properties I've ever stayed in. Not only is it beautiful and charming and inspired, but it has that extra gleam you can't put your finger on. Something about the way the sun comes through the windows and the way it feels to make a pot of tea. Everything is exactly where you think it would be. Outlets and light switches are intuitive. Everything is rustic and modern at once. The design is gorgeous. The water pressure in the shower is probably the best I've ever experienced. Having dinner outside in the lovingly-landscaped backyard as the sun set over the mountains and our baby daughter played on the grass was one of the best evenings of my life.

Relaxing and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This property is not only beautifully restored but located in a fantastic location right at the edge of Ketchum. If you sit in the front yard in the lovely seating area in the evening, you can hear owls and the river rushing by. The backyard is a wonderful area to sit and gaze at the stars.

Everything you need in Ketchum is conveniently located near the cabin. It's within walking distance to the many shops and restaurants you will want to visit, and it's conveniently near the River Run Plaza, where you'll find the ski gondolas and bike rentals.

We had a wonderful visit and look forward to visiting Sun Valley again soon.

Very pretty views from this quaint, adorable cabin. You can tell the owners have paid attention to detail. Great fishing in the Big Wood River and Penny Lake. Fun little shops to browse in and plenty of restaurants. It is a great location for relaxation; quiet neighborhood, wonderful landscaping.

For more than 70 years, outdoor enthusiasts have been drawn to the magical mix that is Sun Valley/Ketchum, Idaho. Many of them come for white-carpet grooming and challenging bowls of Bald Mountain. But the saying goes ... 'We came for the winter and stayed for the summers”. With 16 hours sunlight and long summer days, outdoor activities are endless. Many folks are entranced by the small-town charm and surprisingly sophisticated vibe of downtown Ketchum. And no one who visits is untouched by the pristine beauty of the Rockies.
