Great Apartment, Even Greater Location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 4 nights in this fantastic apartment. I am convinced that what holds true for real estate, also holds true for a HomeAway location; that the three most important things are location, location, location. In this case the location couldn’t be better! Centrally located in a super nice part of town, the apartment is within a short walking distance to some of the best attractions in BsAs. Don Julio Parrilla, the Armenian plaza, the yellow tour bus stop, nightlife, and plenty of markets and intimate restaurants are all close by. The apartment was very comfortable for 2 people, with the star of the show being the private patio deck with the spectacular view. (Every room has a view actually, including the bathroom!) Situated near the top of the building and an efficient elevator to get you there, the accommodations had all of the bases covered. (Those who like a firm mattress, will love this one!) Lilian’s local support staff were top notch. They were considerate and friendly and were quick to help with any question or anything we needed. Our mid-April trip had perfect weather; low 70's and sunny; you can't beat that. Our last day was a bit frenzied, and the local staff arranged a car to take us to the International airport. This was one less thing for us to worry about. The description in the listing was spot on, and the price, responsiveness, and apartment are all great. Definitely recommended!

Lovely apartment in a great area

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is a spacious one bedroom with beautiful wood floors and a great rooftop terrace looking out over the city. Everything was clean and it had everything we needed. Palermo Soho is a fun, trendy area with lots of great patio restaurants/bars and excellent shopping. Not too far to the metro, known as Subte (if you want to brave it- not recommended in summertime since the A/C is not working and its a sweatfest). I'd definitely recommend staying at this apartment and hope to return to B.A. again someday and stay here.

Lovely apartment in a great location!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week at this charming little place for our first visit to BA. We arrived on a holiday and were warmly greeted and given great information. Lilian and her daughter were so pleasant to work with as hosts. We loved the space and especially the terrace. I cannot think of a better location within Palermo! Perfect quiet street with all the great restaurants and shops nearby. The air conditioning worked well, the kitchen had all the necessary items and the bathroom was ample. The closets in the bedroom were an added bonus. The two drawbacks to this place were the bed and sofa. Neither were truly comfortable for two. Those aside, this was a perfect spot!

Good sized apartment for two on the seventh floor.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 8 days in this apartment and would highly recommend it to anyone. It was well equipped, clean and well maintained. The pictures were very accurate, and the location in Palermo was excellent. There are many

restaurants and shopping in the area, and it is not that far to walk to the subway (subte).

Very nice stay!

  • 5 of 5

My wife & I stayed here for 9 nights and had a great time. We walked the city (You will be close to many parks), used the subway & ate and drank our way through Pelermo. TIP: (Split the beef LOMO unless you want leftovers for the next night) The apt. looks just like the pictures. No surprises. There are two A/C units but we only used the one in the bedroom. Slept well. You have some kind of view from every room. Windows open in three directions so always a breeze. The balcony was a big hit. Think sunsets & wine. What a treat after walking the area. There are so many good places to eat within easy walking distance. A local wine shop and supermarkets everywhere. The mom & pop's were less on many things then the chains.

If one of you drinks beer the Argentine way to buy it is in a Liter bottle. In fact the Rest. serve it this way too. You will have to pay a deposit you can't get back unless you buy more beer. Another words when you leave you will be out the money. We left two empty's to get you started by the hot water heater also

Lilian was a pleasure to work with and has family in the area to take care of you. Also a very friendly bldg. maintenance man is there almost every day.

We left many helpful suggestions in the apt. comment book like Rest. names, a wine we liked very much, and WHERE TO CHANGE MONEY. You see it on the net. BRING CASH in US $$! Had we used any bank ATM our bank, CHASE would have charged us $5.00 US PLUS 3% of the transaction and I'm sure the local ATM owner would have a fee too. On top of that you get the bank to bank exchange of around 8 to 1 and they limit the amount you can get each day so even more fees!!! The BLUE rate when we were there ranged between 10.40 & 10.70 for cash. You can Google it each day to check the rate. Expect to get a little less then the rate you see on line. That's how many Argentine Peso's it takes to buy a dollar. You will be selling them. Just follow the instructions we left or take a cab. We left the address. This is not a Florida St. thing. No one trying to hustle you from the street and taking you who knows where. You have to be sent by someone. No markings and no name. Got directions from a nice American lady married to a retired Argentine .

We had no trouble. Looked like a bank window inside. To get all this great info and more all you have to do is give yourself a treat instead of a treatment and rent Lilian's very nice Apt. You will be glad you did....we were.

Very Disappointed!

  • 1 of 5

This apartment you have to watch out for the following:

1) Two nights we could not sleep because of a very noisy next neighbor, visitors at

hours of the night.

2) Poorly maintained-

a) Coffee pot that blew up and main breaker was kicked.

b) Mini blind that was broken and could not be closed completely.

c) A broken entry door (more on this later)

3) Checking out -

a) They charged us for the locksmith that had to come out an open the door.

We were lead to believe, from property manager, that he would arrange the

locksmith but we would have to pay and we would get it back at checkout

This was $180.00 Peso.

b) Locksmith advised us that the problem was not with the lock, but with a

faulty door. Which we believe the property manager was aware of. That is

the reason for a slide bolt lock at the base of the door. Locksmith showed

us how to lock door and not have problem again.

c) At final check out, the property manager (per the owner), said we had to

pay for the locksmith. Said we broken the door. Remember this was

$180.00 Peso. Property Manager (again per owner), we had to pay for a

pay for a new lock. which the locksmith said was not the problem. The

Property Manger showed us a receipt for a new lock, which looked old.

He showed us a lock which also looked old. We finally ended paying

$195.00 for the supposed new lock, which was 1/2 the amount he showed

d) So our final checkout was an additional $375.00 Peso. This all felt like a

scam for more money.

All this is for a problem that we did not create. These problems are due to poor

maintenance. Not due to anything we did.

The apartment has a terrific balcony, very roomy and comfortable. We loved the location and how safe we felt is this area. We are planning to go back to BA in February for 3 months, but we will not return to this apartment. For the extra money it would cost you, you can get a nicer place in the same area.

Owner's Response: Dear Harley and Rosaria I am sorry that you have had a bad experience in my apartment and I am also sorry that I have been there to handle personally all of the problems that you say you had in the apartment. I would like to let you know that is more then 11 years that I have apartment rentals for tourists one in Buenos Aires and one in Paris and luckily I have never had any complaints like yours until now. Possibly you do not know what are the rules when you rent somebody else property and by paying a rent you may think that everything is allowed, it is not so. The apartment was handed over to you with the keys and the lock that were working properly. If they were not working the clients prior to you, the cleaning lady or the person handling the apartment would have told me and I would have taken immediate action as in all of these years one thing I have learned is to resolve in advance all issues before they become a problem. I confirm to you that nobody had a problem with the lock except you. Isnt this strange? Las year in my apartment in Paris the same problem happened twice with clients so I am aware that this can happen and unfortunately is somewhat common, you are not the first ones or the last ones. I ask you a question, you change weekly the lock of your house? Do you think that when someone rents the apartment weekly needs this type of problems? In any case in spite of everything we have been fair with you and have paid half of the damage that you made. We cannot be responsible for everything and that is the reason why there is a Security Deposit. I sorry about what happened but I suggest that next time you handle other people property more carefully.
