Hi Kathy-I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know how great of a time we had at your cottage last week. You have a great clean house with all the amenities and if we're ever back in TC visiting we'll definitely be contacting you to rent your place. The only problem is I think I'm going to have to buy my nephew a boat b/c he loved fishing off of it and he didn't want to leave...... Best RegardsMike
We were only there for a short time, but it was perfect! The house, the boat, the lake and all the other activities in the area make for a great vacation. Next year, we do a week!!!
We arrived at the cottage at dinner time. Everyone was starving. I grabbed disses from the cabinet and found multiple ones with dried stuck on food. Yuck! The utensils in the drawer were the same way. I emailed Steve, the owner, that evening with pictures of the dishes. I would want to know about this if I were the owner. He never (and still has not) responded. It was more of the same for the rest of the week. The coffe maker didn't work, so my husband went to Meijer and bought a new one. We left the box and the old one. Stove was at least 30 years old and the oven was very dirty.
Sleeper sofa in the living room is obviously broken. When you sit on one side of the sofa your fanny goes about to the floor. We never opened it, although we intended to use it, because we were afraid to. Even the vertical blinds in the living room are broken.
The master bedroom bathroom has heavily rusted dirty shower doors and little to no water pressure at the sink. The master bedroom bed was large and comfortable. The lower level bedroom and other bath were fine.
There is a small fishing boat with a motor for guest use. My husband took it out on the first day and it wouldn't stay running. He tried once more and more of the same so we never used it again. The dock is lopsided and in need of repair. Additionally, there are so many trees around the house you hardly get any sun on the deck. There are a lot of stairs leading to the dock and no beach. Not something I would recommend for anyone with young children.
I have never had to leave a bad review on property we rented. I think I am the most upset that the owner never responded to my email.
The cottage is very cute and roomy and clean. The kitchen is stocked with all the pans and utensils needed. Very nice knife set! The view is gorgeous. For me, the three beds downstairs worked great. I had 3 19-year-old boys that were mostly out of my hair. There is a gas station conveniently close if you need gas for the jet ski or boat. Public launch is five minutes away, as is a restaurant. Traverse City was a surprisingly short drive. The owner really could not have been nicer or more helpful.
I stayed a week and was very sad to say goodbye.
My husband and I recently stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary weekend getaway. The cottage was exactly like shown. I loved the views from the living room over the lake. The use of the boat was nice to do some fishing and checking out the lake. I enjoyed using the kayak on Sunday morning when the lake was calm as glass. My only negative comment was the television in the living room. It is glorified computer monitor. I get some people could care less about having a television when they are on vacation, but for my husband and myself, we like to spend the day exploring the area and also the lake and come back to relax at night watching a movie or TV show. It would have been nice to have a TV in the bedroom but overall a larger TV in the living room would have been great! Overall this is a great place to stay. The king size bed was very comfortable to sleep on (and I am a picky sleeper! lol). We definitely will consider this place again in the future to bring our two boys back to for a weekend in the summer.
We had the opportunity to stay at this cottage during a fall color tour through Michigan. The pictures that are posted on the website are exactly how the cottage looks. We found it to be very clean with all of the comforts of home. The view across the lake was stunning with yellow, orange and red trees. It made us want to stay at the cottage instead of exploring the Traverse City area.
Although the dock had been taken in for the winter, my husband still did a little bit of fishing from the shore. About 15 feet from the shore line, a 2 foot pike teased him by just hanging motionless while my husband cast all about it. You can see the fish in the crystal clear water from the deck which sits a couple of stories above. My husband would have loved to fish the lake on a boat (which had been winterized and is available during the summer.)
I do have to agree with a previous poster that additional towels are necessary if you are staying a week as there are no laundry facilities available. And it can get a bit noisy in the lower level sleeping area as one of the beds is on the other side of the wall from the room which houses the water heater and furnace. I ended up sleeping in the living room because I am a light sleeper and the noise bothered me too much.
On the last night of our stay, the large, single residence (Spider Lake Retreat) across the lake from us ended its stay by putting on an hour long fireworks display. We were able to watch from the comfort (and warmth) of the living room and this perfectly capped off our lovely stay at Pinewood Shores. We would recommend it to others.
We stayed the cottage one week, it was a very enjoyable experience, everybody loves it, stunning views, we spent lots of time on the lake , fishing , boating... the cottage itself like home, the owner almost prepare everything for you, Will come back in the future !
