For the inquisitive: Reedville is a fishing village located at the far eastern end of Virginia's Northern Neck, population around 2,163. It is located in Northumberland County, which has about 94,558 residents. Reedville is named for Captain Elijah Reed, who founded the town in 1874 when he started the menhaden fishing industry, which is still going today.

It features historic Victorian mansions built by factory owners and fishing boat captains. Main Street was known as 'Millionaire's Row,' home to wealthy fishermen who made their fortunes from the menhaden that was plentiful in the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. The Reedville Fishermen's Museum, in the Reedville Historic District, tells the story of the menhaden fishing industry, the watermen of the Northern Neck, and the Victorian fishing village of Reedville. Self-guided walking tours of the historic district are available from the museum.

Reedville is also a significant charter-fishing center for Chesapeake bay. Don't forget to visit the local wineries.

Please note that we require at least 2 weeks notice for reservations. We will consider last minute rentals if we do not have guests arriving at least 2 days prior or after your visit. This is for cleaning purposes.

Extemely Pleasant and Relaxing Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We, three families, spent our semi annual week-end retreat at this picturesque Stunning River Retreat. From the very beginning our communications with the owners were most pleasant, inviting and extra-ordinarily friendly. In fact, the very best. When we arrived, the house itself reflected the owners disposition! Warm, inviting, generous and pleasant. Everything we wanted was there and easy to find. Never experienced a welcome basket with goodies, in the past 15 years we have been doing this. Thank you. The bed-rooms were cozy and extremely comfortable. We all concluded that the owners had set-up this house with visitors in mind and for their utmost joy, without any reservations....In all, we had a splendid time and want to return....Our deepest appreciation for giving us all what we wanted for a week-end vacation at the most reasonable rate.

Go and stay and you won't be dissappointed. Everything you need is right here. So much to do at the house on a rain-day, or any-time. Kids NEVER got bored-fishing was good and it was so nice not to have to drive and put the boat in and out. Am planning on going back next year already. One word of advice though- GET YOU FISHING LICENSE BEFORE YOU START FISHING- wife and I took 4 year old for a ride the first day we put boat in water and ended up with lines in the water- cost us each $145.00. Pat had told us before that we could get a boat license for $38.00 but we were too stupid to go and do it. This allows anyone on the boat to fish. GO GET THE LICENSE before you start fishing. Ride on Pat's boat was AWESOME. Pat is a very nice man that was always happy to answer any questions- both before we came down and while we were there.

GO AND ENJOY, Craig and Sherri

We found everything we needed and lots to enjoy at Stunning River Retreat.

  • 5 of 5

Our ladies' group enjoyed a long weekend at Stunning River Retreat. The house is well-appointed and has lots of room for everyone. The owners were quick to respond when we had questions. Some in the group used the stand up paddle boards for the first time and loved it! It was great that so many things were available for our use-kayaks, bikes, ping pong, pool table, etc. The list could go on and on. The owners left us a basket/big bowl of snacks-such a nice touch.

Absolutely Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We (four long time friends) gathered at Cheryl and Maurice's home for an amazing long weekend. Their home was exactly as represented plus some. Very clean (and I'm particular) and stocked above and beyond expectations with everything needed. I've NEVER rented a home so thoughtfully kept to anticipate guests comfort and enjoyment. Our only regret is that our stay was not long enough to enjoy all the toys :) I just can't express enough what a fantastic rental this is. We would absolutely, positively recommend this property to anyone and would definitely return again. Thank you Cheryl and Maurice for such a wonderful experience - it was just perfect!

Had a great time at the Stunning River Retreat.

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house to rent as the owners provide plenty of activities to keep you entertained. The house was clean and well stocked and the view of the river is incredible. We brought our boat wirh us and enjoyed crabbing on the river. We caught a 1/2 bushell each time with chicken necks and topless traps. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evening under the stars to finish the day. We had a good meal at The Crazy Crab in Reedville and also visited a few wineries in the area. We took the ferry to Tangier Island but it was flooded due to the high water conditions from hurricane Hose. We had a great time and highly recommend The Stunning River retreat.

About Cheryl and Maurice

We fell in love with this house and property as it was on the River, had its own private dock and the property was gorgeous. We wanted to share this with others so they can see the beauty in Reedville as we did. We want our guests to be pampered so we include an extensive list of amenities on-site. We hope you enjoy the house as much as we do.

Cheryl and Maurice purchased this house in 2013

Why Cheryl and Maurice chose Reedville

This property is located off the Little Wicomico River with easy access to the Chesapeake for great fishing. Quiet neighborhood. Wonderful property to get away from it all for family reunions and quite romantic getaways.

What makes this house unique

Everything you may possibly need is on site.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I can't say enough good things about our stay at Stunning River Retreat. Cheryl and Maurice have thought of everything. They provide everything you could ever need. Their home is very comfortable and easily accommodates two families with children.

The books that they compiled for information on the area are very detailed and informative.

Thank you for going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.
