About Liz

We take excellent care of this beach house. We own a few other vacation rentals in Santa Cruz CA and Port Aransas TX that are also ocean front.

Liz purchased this house in 1992

Why Liz chose Keauhou

My family was able to purchase this beach lot on the early 80's. We were fortunate enough to build a house on it in the early 90's. We decided to make it a vacation rental as it is zoned hotel.

What makes this house unique

I enjoy going outrigger Canoeing at Keauhou Canoe Club. Visitors are welcome. Snorkeling or taking a surf lesson across the street at Kahaluu beach is enjoyable. Golfing on a beautiful affordable Kona Country Club 1 mile south is enjoyable.

Loved this place.

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect for my husband, our 1 year old, and myself. We absolutely loved it. I wish we could have stayed longer. It was great for us because we could walk to the beach in five minutes and play in the water until the baby got tired, come home and nap...then do something else. The accommodations are basic, but perfect if you're there to enjoy the beach and relax. We stayed in two other places on Hawaii during our trip and this was the best. It was quiet too, so napping and sleeping at night were easy for the little one. Other places were louder, so it was tough for the little one to sleep at night at those. The beach across the street was perfect for little kids, it had a shallow pool he could sit in. It was really busy though, with lots of new snorkelers. But we still saw lots of fish and turtles, and got some much needed sunshine!

wonderful property in paradise

  • 4 of 5

we absolutely loved the house and the location. it was everything we hoped it would be. our only complaint was the gnats. there is a vacant lot next door to the house so at night the gnats from over there would be attracted to the lights and come in/around the doors and windows. Liz was very professional about it, called pest control immediately. Unfortunately, there's not much they could do about it. We're not high maintenance travelers so we just kept the lights to a minimum at night, cleaned before breakfast each morning, and honestly weren't in the place a whole lot. that's the only thing keeping this from a 5-star rating from us.

Owner's Response: In response to the Gnats (my guests thought they were ants and gave them ant bait) This tropical island and has bugs that guests from the mainland are not use to seeing. The weather in Kona had changed and the Gnats were flying around. They come into everyones homes. The Gnats usually are not around. The vacant land round my property is a blessing. Quietness.

Great location and views!

  • 4 of 5

This property is in a great location as it overlooks Kahaluu Bay, which is one of the best snorkeling and surf spots on the island. Great views from the lanais. Close enough to the beach to hear the waves crashing, yet far enough away from the road to limit car noise. We would consider staying here again and we would recommend this property to our family and friends.

A small charming house in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this house and found the host very accommodating. If like us you are stuck with a evening flight, a small flashlight is useful as it was very dark outside when we first arrived (the solar powered porch lights worked the rest of the week, maybe a gecko slept on the solar panel that first day). The host recommends coming during the day and I see why, the drive way is hidden when coming from the north and gps does not understand the address. But the host gave good directions. it is in a great location for snorkelling and watching people learning to surf. It's a good house for a couple.

Clean, well accessorized, good location

  • 4 of 5

Very clean, well appointed, top of the line appliances, many kitchen accessories, spices, pots, pans, etc. If you can stand the heat at night, you can cook just about anything.

Ceiling fan, main floor; 3 fans for bedroom. If you are used to air conditioning and as stated, there is no air conditioning, you will need those fans. Very little breeze in the evening. Large shower, no bathtub.

Top floor is the flat roof of the house with a large canopy, great view.

Unit has 2 folding beach chairs and a beach umbrella. Very handy when visiting other beaches.

Quiet neighbourhood, loudest noise is the birds as the dawn breaks.

Across the road from one of the better snorkeling spots, wide variety of fish but difficult to enter and leave the water due to the rocky shoreline. Bring your water slippers.

Large shopping plaza within a few miles; big supermarket, restaurants, etc, even a cinema.

You will need a rental car just to get around the island and to see all the different attractions.

If it had air conditioning, it would be a 5 star.

We (2) were there May 3 to May 17, 2017.

Owner's Response: If I had air conditioning the rent would be doubled as Hawaii has one of the highest electrical rates
