This Kahaluu Beach House on Alii Drive Big Island, Kailua-Kona is where the (Alii or King and Royalty) would play and fish. This is a historical area with information to offer. Located 4 miles south of Kailua-Kona town, Hawaii. This 1 bedroom 1 bathroom house is very cozy and has everything a home would have. Covered lanai outdoor seating for 4. There are unobstructed ocean and horizon views palm trees, blue water, and sunsets.
The Kahaluu snorkeling beach is across the street and offers a protected snorkeling bay. Swim in your own tropical aquarium of colored fish and turtles in this protected bay. Life guard on duty, rental equipment available. Also good surfing spot on other side of beach.

We take excellent care of this beach house. We own a few other vacation rentals in Santa Cruz CA and Port Aransas TX that are also ocean front.
Liz purchased this house in 1992
My family was able to purchase this beach lot on the early 80's. We were fortunate enough to build a house on it in the early 90's. We decided to make it a vacation rental as it is zoned hotel.
I enjoy going outrigger Canoeing at Keauhou Canoe Club. Visitors are welcome. Snorkeling or taking a surf lesson across the street at Kahaluu beach is enjoyable. Golfing on a beautiful affordable Kona Country Club 1 mile south is enjoyable.
Owner was very helpful. EXCELLENT location if you want to snorkel or surf. Great views. Comfortable. The a/c was out upstairs but it was not needed. Great Lanai and breeze. Would highly recommend
Comfortable, clean house located across the street from wonderful snorkeling and convenient to many other lovely beaches and sightseeing. The kitchen has new appliances, there are plenty of dishes and towels and other amenities, there's a washer and dryer, and there are nice outdoor spaces for sitting and eating and watching the ocean. The house is just enough off the main street to be relatively quiet. Great base of operations for a visit to the Kona side of Hawaii.
A few considerations:
– There is no air conditioning and it does get warm, but you can keep the space cool by using the windows, window shades and the many fans available in the house.
– This is probably not the best option for people with physical challenges; each room is on its own floor and you do have to climb stairs.
– There are two parking spots, but they're not the easiest to get into if you're not used to parallel parking. Consider renting a small to medium sized car instead of a behemoth SUV.
This was a great spot for us. It was near to everything that we wanted to do on the island. Right across the street is a great snorkel spot with lots of sea turtles. The owner made this a very easy transaction for us. Thank you!
Ok, I will. Our stay at Mehina Mele was fabulous.. There are so many wonderful things about Liz and her wonderful home. First, dealing with Liz was easy. She was even available in case we got lost driving to her place. Liz thought of everything to make our stay comfortable, relaxing and fun
A lot of places in Hawaii are muggy and stale. Liz's Mehina Mele smelled fresh and clean. The pictures can tell what it looks like but Liz's home is much more. We felt home. We felt welcomed. We had all the windows opened and yet it was private.. The cross breezes made us not need an air conditioner but Liz had fans for us anyway. She really thought of everything. My hubby loved the office nook and I loved that it was near the kitchen and sofa. We both used the wifi which worked all the time. Of course, you can see from the pictures. Liz has done a great job decorating and her Mehina Mele has an unbeatable view from everywhere. You can hear the waves at night. Even the shower for two has windows high enough to cover and low enough to see out. The mini clothesline in the shower was convenient for our wet swimsuits after swimming with the colorful fish and turtles. We enjoyed the sunsets out on the balcony dining table after cooking in the fully equipped kitchen. My hubby rode his blades and I rode my microscooter down Alii drive to town. We had so much fun & did I mention . It was ironman weekend. Those people are amazing and inspiring. Yes, Liz has done everything she can to make her home comfortable for couples with or without children.
House was good size, shower and bedroom are large. The house is decorated nice and has all the amenities needed. Fully equipped kitchen, great internet and cable TV. Location was fantastic, right across the street from a top snorkel beach and can see the ocean from all floors and listen to the waves all night. Close to restaurants and shopping. The shopping center just down the road has everything you need, including a prompt care in case you need stitches. Will definitely stay here again.
Picture perfect ocean views. palms, protected snorkel area and beautiful Kona sunsets are all part of the scenic views from the cozy home on the Kona coast. This home is a perfect vacation home situated so that the sounds of the ocean waves lull you into peaceful sleep each night. We hated to leave this island get away and plan to return again for this very peaceful experience. The owner was so helpful and friendly and the home was neat, clean and fully stocked. This is a great location easy access and not too far from grocery, restaurants etc. Price is right for this charming home.
