A great space close to just about everything!
About Julieanne Quigley
We moved from Troutdale, OR to Portland to be closer to work and the city. We bought the house and spent two full years remodeling everything. The house has all new siding, paint, windows, electrical and plumbing. We added the guest apartment space when we remodeled because we wanted to host visitors to Portland.
Julieanne Quigley purchased this Guest House in 2016
Why Julieanne Quigley chose Hayhurst
We loved the house and the potential it had when we bought it. It was centrally located, close to downtown, but still has a very private feel. We wanted to live in a safe neighborhood with good schools... we fell in love with the house when we saw it!
What makes this Guest House unique
Privacy! We look out the front of our house the the back yard of our neighbor, we do not face another house. The house behind us is so far back and there are so many trees we can hardly see them. The entire west side of the house is a large green space with nothing but trees. All the guest apartment space faces south and west, so it is very private and green.

Thank you! We are glad you chose to stay with us. We enjoyed having you.
Perfect one bedroom apartment on a dead end street. No street noise and comfortable accommodations. The owners were perfect. The whole experience was pleasant and lovely.
Southwest community center is 1/3 of a mile from the house. Our family loves to go there to play basketball, swim , use the gym or take a class. They have indoor play park times for younger children and an amazing pool with a big water feature, slide and rope swing our children love. In the summer, Wilson Pool is near by, it is a huge outdoor pool with slide and other attractions.
We are very close to the Zoo, Forestry Center, Rose Garden and Children's Museum... all four of these are very close together, and are accessible by bus, Max (light-rail) or car.
We are about 12 minutes to downtown Portland for city attractions. Portland Museum of Art, Concert Halls, Powell's Bookstore, NW 23rd (an amazing street of shops, food and an awesome Portland Vibe), Portland State University and the University Park Blocks, the waterfront is a great place to check out the Willamette River (great biking and jogging trails)
We are also close to Tryon State Park and Washington Park for hiking. Tryon State Park has an Information Center filled with books, cool things for kids to check out and often a park ranger to answer questions.
We are close to OHSU hospital, and the OHSU Tram, a great experience to ride! Views of the entire city, Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens. OHSU offers the most beautiful views in the city, and the tram ends on the South Waterfront, also a great place to explore and shop... and get some great food.
If you are up for a day trip, it is about 75 minutes to the Oregon Coast to check out the gorgeous Pacific Ocean (Lincoln City, Seaside and Canon Beach are our family favorite places), and to the East we are about 45 minutes from the Gorge and Multnomah Falls. The drive out east is breath-taking as you wind along the Columbia River, can travel Historic Columbia River HWY and spend a fun-filled day at the Sandy river playing on the sandy beaches in the sun. We go as a family several times a summer.
Tigard Cinema is the closest movie theater, The Old Spaghetti Factory on the waterfront is a great place to go and watch boats drift by. Within walking distance of our house is Laughing Planet (organic Mexican food) and Sunny's Frozen Yogurt (Kosher).
One of our favorite places to visit as a family is Multnomah Village. Lots of little shops to explore. Our children love Thinker Toys and Annie Bloom's Bookstore the most. Annie Bloom's bookstore is amazing for kids and adults. There are a lot of other wonderful little local shops and places to eat there.
We are close to Washington Square, the largest mall in Oregon. with about 200 stores and the Cheesecake Factory.
There are massage therapists, nail salons, hair salons and barbers all within 5 minutes of the house. Several grocery stores withing just a few minutes also: Albertson's, Fred Meyer and Trader Joes.
In Hillsdale, near Wilson High School is City Thai, Pizzacato, Subway, Dairy Hill Ice Cream shop and our favorite... Impulse Video- it is an actual DVD rental place... so we can watch awesome movies that can't be streamed while supporting a local business. Also near WIlson High School (1.5 miles away) is the track for running, McMenamins Hillsdale Brewry, and the Multnomah County Library.
