Dramatic, Romantic Oceanfront Home with 180 Degree Ocean View

Bedrooms 2
Space 2,500 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

House - 2 Master Bedrooms + 2 full bathrooms - (Sleeps 4)

Phoenix Nest, our romantic and spectacular oceanfront vacation home, is nestled on two glorious acres of forest right on the ocean.

The 2500 square foot, newly remodeled home is bright and airy and includes a 44-foot living room with windows throughout overlooking the ocean. The two master bedroom suites also have unsurpassed, sweeping views of the ocean. The house has great privacy. You can hear the waves crash and see the osprey and gulls fly by as the low tide unveils the rocks and sandy beach. Watch gorgeous sunsets from the deck or hot tub.

You will see sea lions surfing or resting on the rocks on the Havens Neck peninsula. We often see gray and humpback whales and recently blue whales spouting and occasionally breaching out of the ocean.

The bluff is like a garden, covered with plants and natural wildflowers. Known as the 'banana belt,' nearby rivers provide a more fog-free and temperate climate than other coastal areas.

Please No Children, Pets Or Smoking Allowed

Unparalleled Beauty: Dear Pat,

We were greeted by deer and the gentle barking 'hellos' of the sea lions. The house is so comfortable--more space than we imagined and the light so wonderful.. The view rates in our top three--following the Grand Canyon, Positano, Italy and tied with Villa Cinciano in Tuscany. As we say farewell to the deer and sea lions, we'll promise to return and will always remember the beauty by day and the peaceful blanket of the Milky Way by night.

Thank you for sharing your spectacular home with us.

Bob and Helene

Guestbook comments from the owner

Awesome, spectacular views!!! The best of all possible worlds--ocean and forest. Your home is so well designed to incorporate the very best views. The music of the ocean infuses and calms us. I needed this spiritual experience.

P.S. Thanks for the champagne and flowers--what a delightful surprise!

Clean and well maintained home with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

  • 5 of 5

I couldn't recommend this place more highly. Newly remodeled, clean home with comfy beds, a well-stocked kitchen, and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.

Location is perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Gualala. Relax on the deck and listen to the ocean and enjoy the views. Take in the amazing night time views of the stars while unwinding in the hot tub. Short drive to several vineyards, some state parks, and The Point Arena lighthouse.

Pat is the perfect host. From the beginning she responded quickly to my inquiry and answered any questions that I had before and during my stay. Loved her special personal touches like a welcome letter in the mail prior to my stay and champagne on arrival.

Pat's home is perfect and I cannot recommend it enough. I hope to return again soon.❤️

Breathtaking views, and privacy

  • 5 of 5

Lovely home overlooking the ocean, well-appointed, comfortable, away from everything. We looked for a place in Sea Ranch to celebrate an anniversary, and were so happy to find Phoenix Nest a few miles north of Gualala, a much more private and peaceful setting. If you're looking for tranquility, views, comfort, and convenience, this is the place. We were also impressed by the variety of good dining options, which hasn't always been the case this far north on the coast. Try St. Orres for a special occasion, and Thai Kitchen for excellent, fresh food. Also, Surf Market in Gualala for groceries.

4 Nights Among the Waves

  • 5 of 5

Staying at Phoenix Nest was an absolute dream. My partner and I live in an industrial part of Oakland, and my parents live in the heart of Chicago, so this was a rare opportunity for us to be away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Photos truly do not do this property justice-- the house looks fairly unassuming from the outside, but upon entering, you feel like you're on a ship, with ocean views that are, once again, almost too beautiful to be captured by a camera without appearing cheesy or cliched.

Some of the activities we especially enjoyed were: grilling, eating, and drinking wine outside; taking advantage of the PRIVATE PATH that allows you to overlook a beach full of sea lions; soaking in the hot tub; reading and writing, and many more things.

We hope to return in the future during whale season, since we've heard that Phoenix Nest has great views for whale watching.

Pat, the owner, was extremely quick to respond and an excellent host overall. The house is unbelievably well-equipped for reading, cooking, and many other activities, and there are lots of helpful signs indicating where things should go. I can't say enough good things about this property! I got used to falling asleep to the sounds of sea lions barking and waves crashing on the shore...

Five stars.

Another Wonderful Visit to Phoenix Nest

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently made our third visit to the Phoenix Nest, and everything was wonderful. Pat is an outstanding owner and very responsive. There is nothing like waking up to the sounds of waves hitting the rocks and sea lions barking. It is a bit of a drive to the wineries we like in Anderson Valley, but I do not mind it at all. We love coming back to this magnificent house at the end of the day, pouring some good wine, and watching the sunset on the Pacific.

Owner's Response: Dear Mark, It's such a pleasure to hear my guests rave about the Phoenix Nest. I agree that nothing beats hearing the ocean waves crash and watching the sunset from the living room or deck is something very special. I look forward to your visit again next year. My best, Pat

Thank you so much for sharing this amazing spot on the Northern California coast. The house lived up to every picture and then some. We were looking for peace and beautiful views and got just what we were looking for. The house is airy and bright as well as comfortable. I can't wait to get back.

Perfect in every way! Couldn't be better!

  • 5 of 5

If you are interested in exploring this part of the Northern California coast, which is spectacular, you couldn't find a better place from which to do it. The only problem is that the views from this gorgeous home might make it hard to leave and do any exploring!

But do explore, especially Haven's Neck, which you can see (and hear the seals) from the home, but only gain access if you are staying at this home.

And follow Pat's recommendations. You will not be disappointed.
