Phoenix Nest, our romantic and spectacular oceanfront vacation home, is nestled on two glorious acres of forest right on the ocean.
The 2500 square foot, newly remodeled home is bright and airy and includes a 44-foot living room with windows throughout overlooking the ocean. The two master bedroom suites also have unsurpassed, sweeping views of the ocean. The house has great privacy. You can hear the waves crash and see the osprey and gulls fly by as the low tide unveils the rocks and sandy beach. Watch gorgeous sunsets from the deck or hot tub.
You will see sea lions surfing or resting on the rocks on the Havens Neck peninsula. We often see gray and humpback whales and recently blue whales spouting and occasionally breaching out of the ocean.
The bluff is like a garden, covered with plants and natural wildflowers. Known as the 'banana belt,' nearby rivers provide a more fog-free and temperate climate than other coastal areas.

Unparalleled Beauty: Dear Pat,
We were greeted by deer and the gentle barking 'hellos' of the sea lions. The house is so comfortable--more space than we imagined and the light so wonderful.. The view rates in our top three--following the Grand Canyon, Positano, Italy and tied with Villa Cinciano in Tuscany. As we say farewell to the deer and sea lions, we'll promise to return and will always remember the beauty by day and the peaceful blanket of the Milky Way by night.
Thank you for sharing your spectacular home with us.

Awesome, spectacular views!!! The best of all possible worlds--ocean and forest. Your home is so well designed to incorporate the very best views. The music of the ocean infuses and calms us. I needed this spiritual experience.
P.S. Thanks for the champagne and flowers--what a delightful surprise!
We have rented houses on the coast between Gualala and Point Arena since the l980's. Phoenix Nest is by the far the nicest house and location we have found. Pat is great to work with and everything at the house was as advertised. In fact, we are coming back and bringing another couple in July 2017.
We spent an amazing week at Phoenix Nest! We fell in love with this beautiful home as soon as we found it on VRBO and although the photos are an accurate depiction of the home, it took our breath away as soon as we walked in the door and were stunned by the 180 degree panoramic view of the Peninsula and the ocean from the many floor to ceiling windows. The home is warm, welcoming, comfortable and extremely well appointed. Everything we needed was available and more. Pat has seen to every detail. We were two couples and the home was a perfect fit, as we are nature lovers -- we couldn't stop "ooing and ahing". We loved the cacophony of seals and sea lions that became the background music for our stay. The decorating is lovely and there are many unique pieces of art throughout the home to be enjoyed. We loved having our morning coffee, afternoon cocktail and stargazing at night on the deck. The kitchen is extremely well appointed and every detail provided for. The home is also impeccably clean. Pat is extremely responsive and was spot on with her recommendations for dining and touring. We highly recommend St. Orres, Trinks and Uneda Eat for dinner and Trinks for their amazing pastries as well!!! We also visited the Anderson Valley AVA which made for an enjoyable day of visiting wineraries. One of the highlights of our week (there are too many to list) was our day spent out on Haven's Neck, the private peninsula -- just breathtaking and so satisfying to know that it has been designated as a nature preserve, as it is a unique habitat. There had to be upwards of 500 seals and sea lions occupying the North Beach and we were able to explore the South beach with its many shells and driftwood. And...we can't forget the hot tub which is perfectly situated for use either during the day or at night. We can only hope to return someday to this little piece of heaven!
What a lovely home. The best part is enjoying the beautiful view of the coast line from multiple rooms. Many birds and sea lions swim past every day. The kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed cooking some fine meals. The hot tub is private, has a nice view and is steps away from the back door. The neighborhood is so quiet and restful. We will look forward to returning.
My husband and I stayed for the week. From the moment we drove up, we knew the inside was going to be spectacular! The attention to detail in each room made the house even better! We enjoyed the hot tub daily especially in the morning! The view in the living room at night was amazing! The owners were very nice to work with, and genuinely cared about our stay! Will definitely stay again! Thanks again Pat for sharing such a gem!
We enjoyed every peaceful second of our honeymoon at this amazing home. We would've been happy to have just stayed in the hot tub all week, but we loved hiking to find Bowling Ball Beach it was so secluded and amazing! Our favorite thing was stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) with Craig at Kayak Mendocino and surfing lessons with Caleb at North Shore Surf School. We loved eating at St. Orres and Franny's Cup and Saucer. If anyone drives south to catch their flight we definitely recommend stopping at Lucas Wharf for fresh seafood. Thanks again for sharing your home with us Pat! Until next time.

The house is truly amazing. Completely private from anyone. The Jacuzzi was private n had full view of the ocean crashing waves. The photos do not do it justice. Every amenity is included. Culinary delight. All the pans, dishes n knives were great quality. A big plus. The tempurpedic beds r so comfy with the down comforters. This place has me wishing to hit the lotto so I can purchase a similar house. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of heaven. Marj
Other Activities: You can often see gray whales migrating south in winter and north in spring with their calves.
