Featherstone is the ultimate getaway. Its 1 1/2 acres of sandy beach located on a cove-like property is considered to be the most beautiful private beach on the island. Far off the roads and with no direct neighbors on either side, you are surrounded by palm and sea grape trees with nothing in view but sea and sky and with glimpses of the bluff to the East and Little Cayman to the West. Even all the telephone and electrical wires are buried so you feel like you are on your own private little island in the middle of the Caribbean Sea.
This beautiful property was built and decorated with loving care and is perfectly maintained by its interior designer owner. Your day begins as you look out your double french doors at the sun rising on the water. In the evening enjoy dinner on your private deck overlooking the sea and your private garden while sunsets light up the sky. At night, lay in a hammock under the palm trees and watch the stars fall from the sky as night turns to day.
This is what island living was 50 years ago. Bring your books, your camera, your sweetheart, your stress, and let it all go in this beautiful place. Or, come alone and find how life is meant to be lived. Away from the fast paced atmosphere of an overdeveloped world, Featherstone offers a peace and beauty seldom found in the civilized world. If you love the sounds and smells of the sea, the serenity of sunsets and endless stars at night, Featherstone is your place.
This property is so gorgeous that words cannot do it justice so please just come stay with us.

Minnie Branch purchased this apartment in 2009
Because the island is still in the top 3% of clean air and water left on the planet. There is no poverty and, thus, no crime. The people are friendly and accommodating and the British ownership assures a stable government. It is gorgeous beyond words with many unusual and outstanding features in addition to the Caribbean Sea and sky.
Safety. Security. Every day a beautiful day.
Everything about this place was perfect, The property was beautifully maintained and the apartment was beautiful and well equipped. Minnie takes careful attention to things that simply make your vacation more comfortable and enjoyable. We wanted a place on the ocean with privacy to relax and enjoy my wife's birthday and our anniversary and we were not disappointed. The rental car was waiting for us at the airport which Minnie so graciously reserved for us. After resting the day of arrival, Minnie & Hank provided us with recommendations from where to buy groceries, restaurants to eat at and sights to see and explore on this beautiful island. For fresh baked bread and rolls you cannot beat the Pioneer Bakery. Snorkeling off the beach in front of the house, we saw numerous tropical fish, several barracuda, a reef shark, and several turtles. Another good shore place we snorkeled was at Tibbett's Reef. The museum had fascinating information about the history of this amazing island and the numerous hurricanes it has survived. We visited the numerous caves and was especially touched with Rebecca's Cave. The trip to the lighthouse and view from the bluff is spectacular wonder in itself. This is truly an amazing place to get away and relax and Minnie is a very gracious host. She truly puts her guest and their comfort first. I cannot recommend this place or it's lovely host enough. My wife and I are looking forward to a return visit to this beautiful place in the future.
The view from the apartment in breath taking. Minnie takes such great care of her beach area. We loved watching the waves roll in from our front porch while eating our breakfast, laying in one of the hamocks or beach chairs or in the cabana. The apartment had everything we needed for a fantastic vacation. Minnie was kind and very respectful of our privacy. Thank you for such a marvelous vacation at your paradise get away.
First, Minnie's property is amazing. We had the privilege of staying at both the cottage and the apartment. Minnie was gracious enough to help with our Thursday-Thursday stay which required staying on one space for a few nights then moving to the other. If you are honeymooning I suggest the cottage otherwise personally I prefer the apartment where we stayed for the majority of our vacation. The apartment has an amazing view of the ocean and beach. Minnie's description is on point and the space IS comfortable - pillow-top mattresses, great pillows, etc. Plenty of spaces on the beach for chilling including hammocks and shelters. The property is beautiful and well maintained. It has the perfect blend of vegetation and open space. We spent a lot of time everyday in the water in front of the property. The beach at Minnie's is interesting in that it does not enter into the water this is normal on this side of the island. The only place you will find a "traditional" sandy beaches will be by the resorts. DO NOT let this deter you! Minnie has a small dock that takes you out past the iron-shore so you can either swim or snorkel. Snorkeling in front of her house is great. This place is truly wonderful and our family had an amazing time hiking the shoreline, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and just relaxing.
The island is literally a reef that came out of the ocean. Almost all of the island has what is called iron shore. Very few property owners have cleaned up the shore like Minnie has - she has the true diamond on this small island that she painstakingly carved out. We are snorkelers and used 2mm booties (I would actually get thicker booties to get through the iron shore around the island) and open heel fins to take full advantage of the snorkeling around the island - the only place you don't need this setup is by the public beach. If you have a young snorkeler I recommend the following shore dives/snorkeling locations - Handcuff Reef, Sylvia's Reef, Radar Reef, Scott's Dock, Buccaneer. They each have ladders into the water and are very easy to navigate. Be sure to bring your inflatable snorkel vest for visibility and safety.
There's not a lot of great eating locations on this island. There are a few gems- Barry's Jerk, Pat's Kitchen, and Captains Table (for lunch). I highly recommend buying fresh fish from a guy on the West Cross Road he has a large pink sign - "fresh fish for sale." $4CI/pound.
Minnie is fabulous..everyone knows her on the island...the 'apartment is below her resident location ... Everything in her "ad" was there in a very fashionable manner... A little tough going swimming in front of the place due to very windy weather, but we are snorkelers and we ventured out to find great snorkeling sites .. A few you can drive your rental car up to the stairs into the water ..Thank you Minnie for a great time ...
We stayed in both of Minnie's cottages and were comfortable in each of them. The decorating is wonderful and so is the view. The beach is sandy and the cabana and hammocks are great for relaxing in. We didn't feel well while we were there and it was a good place to recuperate. Minnie was quite helpful and accommodating. Everything was as described and we would recommend this property.
We enjoyed the island people and their food. We found a place that makes smoothies and we went there every day! The museum was interesting and the parrot preserve was too.
The only down side was not being able to get in the water from the beach. The only places that really works on this island are the public beach on the south side and the pools at the resorts. That would be my only reason to give this 4 stars. This is just how the island is. The accommodations were a 5 star.
We stayed at this beautiful property from December 28th-January 11th, 2016 and had one of the most memorable vacations. The home itself is gorgeous and way more than comfortable. The property is one of the best on the island, beautiful vegetation, landscaping, plenty of hammocks, and one of the best views of the sea you'll ever find. My husband is an avid fisherman and fished every day from shore, he loved every minute of it. We kayaked, swam, snorkeled, and napped in the hammocks. Our daughter especially loved the hermit crabs who loved us for all the treats we gave them, she also enjoyed finding every size of sea urchin shell you can imagine. You'll see gorgeous birds, and tons of fish. Hank, Minnie's partner, was especially kind to share the fresh conch he dove for--it's pretty amazing the depths he could dive! Here is a list of stuff we did on the island:
-fished, snorkeled, swam
-swam and snorkeled in "The Cut"
-ate some delicious meals of parrot fish, turbit, snapper, lobster, conch, and jack
-hiked the following caves: Peter's cave, the Great Cave, Bat Cave
-found two divers who caught fresh lobster
-ate meat pies and coconut bread from Pioneer Bakery
-drank lots of Cuban and Caymanian rum!
-ate lots of rum cake
-tried nearly every restaurant on the island (all were excellent)
-boated to Little Cayman and spent the day on the beautiful beaches (you can fly from Cayman Brac to Little Cayman for as little as $60 roundtrip)--I personally liked the boat ride though!
-met and chatted with Tenson Scott and his lovely daughter, Simone--bought quite a few things from them including rope made from silver thatch palm leaves, totes made of silver thatch palm, jewelry, and artwork.
-visited the Cayman Brac museum (a must) and the Heritage House
-spent the day on the South end of the island, visited the Lighthouse, watched the stars at night
So, as you can see, we had a more than great time--lots of memories and will return again. Minnie's property is gorgeous--both she and Hank were fantastic hosts, they know EVERYTHING about the island!! Thank you so much!
We had a fantastic time at Minne's. I could not think of a more ideal place to relax and get away from it all. My boyfriend and I traveled to Cayman Brac looking for a place just hang out at the beach and get away from the Philadelphia winter. We spent most of the time at the house. Our days consisted of making coffee and sitting out on the porch, lounging on your own private beach, kayaking and snorkleing, reading in the hammocks, grilling dinner and then having cocktails while watching the sunset. The house has everything you could need from all the possible cooking supplies to shampoo and conditioner. The bed is incredibly comfortable and from your bed you can see/hear the ocean. Minnie was very responsive to all my questions and she arranged to have a rental car pick us up at the airport. When we arrived, she had a book detailing the best grocery store, restaurants, and hikes. Ultimately, I would recommend this house for someone who is looking to relax in the Caribbean off the beaten path and wants to stay in a beautiful place who doesn't need someone to create towel animals on their bed every night. We only briefly interacted with Minnie but she is a doll. .
