About Beth Farrar
We love peaceful, remote places that are easy to get to. This property fit the bill perfectly! We love the peacefulness of this area, the views, the rustic feeling of the house, and the people in this area --- pretty much everything!
Beth Farrar purchased this House in 2005

Lovely family vacation
We enjoyed our stay very much! The newly renovated bathroom is a really good improvement from the last time we were there!
So glad you enjoyed your stay!

Quiet home away from home
We were able to stay for three nights in July. We didn’t spend a lot of time at the house but what time we did was comfortable, and we had everything that we needed. It was just my husband and myself so there was more than enough room. There were numerous beds to choose from! The newly remodeled bathroom on the second floor was beautiful and I loved the shower. I found the binder with local and house information very helpful. I chose this house because of the location. We were able to hike to Pyramid and the Ball Lakes one day, it was a great hike with lots of foot traffic both day hikers and overnight backpackers. That night a crazy storm came through, lots of wind and lightning so we had a great view to it all with the big windows in the house. The next day we drove to Myrtle Falls, along the way getting to observe numerous downed trees from the storm the previous night. We then made our way to Snow Falls, these are worth your time! There are so many outdoor activities to do in the area, we would love to go back and take the kids and grandkids.
Thank you so much for your comments, and especially those tips on the different hikes. I hope we get to those locations someday soon! Hope you will be able to visit again soon! Beth Farrar
This was a wonderful place to stay with plenty of room. It was clean and affordable.
Thanks Indie. So glad you all enjoyed it.
Don't let perfection get in the way of wonderful !
We loved the Dancing Elk Lodge because:
Its a peddling and hiking mecca like: PortHill loop past the old hundred foot cemetery with veterans flags of Memorial day... Hiking across the gated bridge at Boundary Creek and being caught by the game warden... A day trip to Creston with a meal at the Shimmerhorn Bistro... And that short hike up the rock ridge directly behind the lodge. Start this hike 150 yards to the east of the lodge then follow a 4-wheeler trail to the summit, watch out for ticks (some in our group rate ticks worse than rattlesnakes or bears).
What we didn't love about the lodge: Not all that much except for a few details: Flat surfaces, cabinets and drawers are largely taken by the owners items... We would like to see more flat surfaces and storage space for the clients... Some of us got frustrated with the gas oven and stove (I guess we are spoiled)... There is a lot more furniture than needed and it takes up too much space, maybe it is for the new building being built... More water pressure in the new shower so you can feel "rich and famous" when both heads are running... Easier opening doors and windows to let in those great forest smells and since this review was from a cool/rainy Memorial day weekend you should be aware that the lodge's great southern exposure will make it hot in the summer.
So many beds and great place
The people, the property the house, everything was perfect. This place is a must see no matter if your interested in hunting public land in town, hiking or just relaxing.
Ah, thank you. So glad you enjoyed it there!
'Schweitzer Mountain' ski resort is approx. 1 hour south in Sandpoint.
p.s. ABSOLUTELY NO HUNTING ON PROPERTY !!
There is a blue binder in the entryway that has lots of info about local places, attractions, events, etc for you!
