The kitchen is cute and cozy and there have been plenty of gourmet meals prepared here if you like to cook. We also provide nice dishes in case you're in the mood for a candle light dinner. There is a nice large deck off the kitchen with a table for 4 and an umbrella, and a nice gas grill.

If you have children, we provide a bunk bed and a comfortable couch in the Living Room area.

About Karen Malaga

We have 3 children who love The Rockhouse Cottage in Dahlonega. We enjoy watching our children play in the country. It's so quiet and peaceful. When you stay 2 days, it feels like a week! Dahlonega Square is complete with some of the best restaurants.

Karen Malaga purchased this house in 1986

Why Karen Malaga chose North Georgia Mountains

It takes us only 1 hour to get to Dahlonega from Atlanta. We felt the need to get out of the busy city of Atlanta to enjoy the quiet life in the mountains. It reminds us of who we are. It is used as a 2nd home for many weekends for friends and family. This is a honeymoon cottage, too! The hot tub for two is awesome. Also, the perfect getaway for an anniversary. Many proposals have been made at this cottage.

The rocks on the cabin were placed on the wall by us. The door to the bedroom was a gift from Joe Daole. It came out of an old church in London over 60 years ago.

This cabin will stay in the family forever.

What makes this house unique

The people in Dahlonega are so nice. We love going to the Festivals, The Zoo, Horseback riding. Shopping. Visits to the waterfalls. The views. Swimming at the community pool is a lot of fun! We enjoy the time we have to do so many fun things with our family. Just being together is what it's all about. Our favorite thing to do is sit on the swing or bench and talk.

Exceeded my expectations!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was clean and provided all the amenities I could imagine. The view was perfect from every window. The decor was slightly dated, but we didn't mind because we spent most of our time on the decks enjoying the hot tub, grilling, or simply sitting and talking while looking at the beautiful view. We are moving to the area, and would highly recommend the Rockhouse Cottage for our guests.

Cute cottage close to downtown and vineyards.

We loved the cottage! It was on a beautiful piece of land with deer in the backyard. Very quaint and perfect for enjoying the mountain air on the decks.

Rockhouse is as described, quaint, cozy and in a nice location

  • 3 of 5

Our trip deserves 5 stars because we were with our daughter-in-love and 3 precious grandchildren. We rent from HomeAway quite often, and I used the app to check in. Unfortunately there will several complications. The hot tub did not work our entire 4 day/3 night visit. Water pressure in the house was extremely low. Ben, the property manager was responsive and was able to improve the water pressure. Multiple attempts by myself and the housekeeper did not resolve the hot tub issue. All of the cushions on the porches had been left out, so when we arrived they were all a soggy mess. I spent an hour or so sweeping the porches and sunning the cushions so we could enjoy the outdoor spaces. The kitchen had adequate dishes, glassware, utensils and pots/pans. There were plenty of blankets, sheets, towels and paper products. The plastic plants/flowers were quite dusty, so we just kept the lighting level low. We were finally able to fill the jetted tub after the water pressure issue was corrected and enjoyed the picturesque view. Both TVs, Dish network and electronic equipment worked as described. The kids playground was fun, although there was a large ant hill at the bottom of the slide, which made it difficult for the children to enjoy the slide. We enjoyed walking the property and met a few of the nice neighbors. The grill worked fine and grilling utensils were available in the kitchen. I sent several pictures of items that needed to be addressed, especially were kids are concerned, to the property manager, and hope they are corrected before the next guest arrives. We enjoyed the wildlife preserve, and the gold mine with the kids... all in all a wonderful trip. I texted the property manager upon departure and requested a partial refund due to the issues. Still awaiting a response.

Great Gateway

  • 5 of 5

This gateway is located at very good location. It has everything we want. Grill at deck, hot tub outdoor. We even saw a deer in the morning when we were eating breakfast. Close to Walmart, so can get supplies very easily. Close to any hiking sites in Dahlonega, Helen. Overall, it is perfect for couple or a small group.

Perfect Weekend Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend getaway staying at the Rockhouse Cottage! The owners were so easy and great to contact, the cottage was well stocked with supplies, the backyard and surroundings were beautiful and the quaint inside was so beautiful! The jacuzzi tub and hot tub worked well and were very relaxing. Downtown Dahlonega was nearby and a fun town to visit for a dinner out. We also hiked nearby Amicalola Falls as recommended by the owners and it was INCREDIBLE! We would highly recommend this cottage and would love to visit again!
