About Alison and Chris Vooris
Chris and Alison After ten years in Fells Point Baltimore it was time to get out of the city. In 1989 Chris and I moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, first living in the historic town of Centreville and then moving to Moot Point Farm We have raised four children in this rural area and feel fortunate to have given them this opportunity; a care-free up-bringing of farms, fields , rivers and the Chesapeake Bay. This is a place to escape and be one with nature. The sunsets across the river are spectacular and the seasons each bring their own magic. In the summer we spend most of our time in or on the water. Kayaking the river ,where ospreys abound, you feel like you are in untouched Indian territory.
Alison and Chris Vooris purchased this House in 2019
Why Alison and Chris Vooris chose Greensboro
This has been a successful VRBO property for he last 4 years and we live directly next door. Moot Point is a unique place on the Choptank River. A waterfront property untouched by any development. The abundance of bird species and the beauty of the river, the sunsets and the quiet isolated environment was the attraction. We have not left this place and now we are fortunate to be able to share this one of a kind place to guests. We invite you to experience the invigorating magic of Moot Point, on the river, on this amazing Eastern Shore.
What makes this House unique
When you wake up in the king-sized bed of the master bedroom, and before your feet hit your slippers, you will look straight out the wall of picture windows to the river. Roll over to the right or left and you will see the woods fully decked out in seasonal fare, as dawn spills down from the skylight. Take in the unique personality of each of the four seasons from this perch, or from the balcony, living room, kitchen, or dining table. Or from the deck, with its glass railings and unobstructed views. The brilliant, crisp foliage of fall, the hushed peace of winter, the exuberant eruption of spring, and the sultry lushness of summer, all become closer, more intimate at the River House. There is no "in-season" here. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, even the doldrums of February, are all exquisitely serene times. Into birding? This is one of the richest avian habitats in North America. On the river slightly to the left of the house is a nest that is inhabited by osprey who return the first of every March to start a new generation. On the far bank are blue herons. Down river nearby are bald eagles, who, though much larger, tread carefully when encroaching on osprey turf. In the woods surrounding the house there is a cardinal couple, loyal to each other and to our home the year 'round. Not to mention red-tailed hawks, turkey buzzards, nuthatches, tufted titmouse, chickadees, and three species of woodpeckers. We'll leave our birding guide and binoculars for you. Love the water? Kayaking or boating? We'll keep two kayaks for your use, with paddles, ready for you at the front of the deck. There is a shared dock available which can be where you drop the kayaks in, jump into the river and swim or moor a boat. Boats can be launched in Denton at the local landing and trailers can be stored at Moot Point. Enjoy swimming pools? when it's warm, lounge on the pavers next to the pool and read the day away.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home on Choptank River. My husband and kids especially enjoyed fishing on the dock where they were able to catch plenty of fish. It was the perfect property to take our dog given the enclosed yard. Such a nice getaway way where we were able to relax and enjoy everything the home had to offer. The kayaks, pool, hot tub and views were everything we needed. Alison and Chris were wonderful and incredibly helpful with tips and places to visit. We would highly recommend this home to anyone.
Thank you Lisa. That catfish the boys caught (that got away) I will never forget!! It was HUGE. Glad you had the vacation you were hoping for.
Private Relaxing Getaway
I just spent a week at this beautiful home and had some much-needed R&R. This gem of a house is nestled on a private wooded lot with all the amenities you could want. We rarely found a reason to leave! We relaxed in the pool during the day and the hot tub at night. And with wifi and a smart tv, we still had all of the comforts of home.
Alison and Chris were very friendly and helpful. And they were always available to us just in case we needed anything. One evening we requested the pool be a bit warmer and like magic we awoke to heated waters!
I highly recommend you check out this wooded oasis if you need a break from the hustle and bustle of life. I swear it has restorative powers!
Great location, great house, great owners!
Everything was perfect, couldn’t ask for anything more. Awesome recommendation for the public house, went there twice. Property was incredible, couldn’t even make a recommendation on how to improve, it was everything we wanted!
Beautiful vacation home!
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. We were welcomed by the owners who helped make our vacation a memorable one. Allison was always happy to give us ideas for day trips. She brought her llamas down to visit my grandson and also let him help her feed them before we left. He's told everyone who'll listen about his wonderful vacation. It was great having the pool. We used it every day and used the hot tub every night.
The kayaks were right there at the private dock to use and we could fish off the dock as well.
I would highly recommend this rental. From the wonderful owners to the beautiful home, this place is a gem. We all had such a great time. Thank you!!!
I am so glad the llamas were a hit and it was wonderful to hear you had such a great time! We would love to have you come back.
Exactly what we needed - Beautiful, Serene, Genuine feel good getaway!
Alison Vooris is such a pleasant, wonderful communicator. She was super helpful & responsive, even though she was in China when I was pumping out questions and booking. She writes like champ, with sincerity and transparency. What a great owner.
All the instructions and suggestions for things to do were crafted for us in advance of our trip. We got to know each other a bit, which made me feel good about supporting their business.
When we got there, Alison told us that she would be traveling with her husband, Chris, so Emily (her daughter) picked up the baton. Again, a great and pleasant manager, she was super relaxed and I only heard from her when she texted me about things to do after we settled in a day or so. I go into the people because it truly matters, and it shows in their property.
Super spacious inside for 2 adults & 3 boys (10,12,14) and our dog. We took the queen room downstairs. The kids had the king upstairs; there was also a private room with a twin that one of the kids claimed. Kids had their own bathroom with a tub. We had our bathroom downstairs. Everything was clean, comfy, bright, modern, lots of linens, bath & beach towels, house items, everything all ready.
The living, dining, kitchen areas were well laid out in an open space which allowed us to always be together as a family. Fresh herbs & veggies as a welcome gift, Thank you! AC, laundry was great, but the fun was outside.
Big backyard deck and porch. 5 burner grill. Lots of extra fenced in walk space so our dog was able to find her own homes around the yard/trees. Hot tub with powerful jets, bubble maker, heat adjustment was responsive. Perfect private pool with all the necessities you'd need: floats, chlorine dispensers, a pool robot, and pool nets for the leaves that fall because this wonderful house is tucked into a beaten path through the woods. The river was only a few yards away. We took their kayaks on the river off their private pier. Walks around the path to visit the llamas. Exactly what city folks need. If you bring a dog, make sure she has tick medicine on (& tweezers)... remember it's the northeast where dog ticks are in season.
We did so many other things. Rehoboth Beach for 7/4 fireworks, St. Michaels for seaside town & crabs on the pier. Antique shopping in Denton. Easton theater (Spiderman!) Walmart was a 9min drive. The people in all areas were good natured. I just can't say enough.
Thank you Vooris'! I hope you like our NYC gift!
We spent 6 days at this wonderful vacation home and truly felt rejuvenated by the time we left. The setting is idyllic with the woods and river a perfect backdrop. Most of our time was spent on the comfortable deck and enjoying the pool. The sounds of nature were calming and soothing. Inside the home, Alison and Chris offered a welcoming setting. The kitchen was fun to cook in and the welcome basket of fresh fruit and veggies was a nice surprise. The location of the home was perfect for a day trip to the Ocean City area or to St. Michael's. But we truly never wanted or needed to leave the house. We very much enjoyed this unique property.
This is a place to escape and be one with nature. There is a dock if you would like to bring a boat and kayaks to access the water. There are local parks for walking, birdwatching, biking . The ocean is an hour away and Baltimore and Washington DC are an easy day trip. Antique shops can be found in the small historic towns , visitors should visit Denton Station in Denton. There is an amazing auction 45 minutes in the town of Crumpton, Dixons Auction. This is held every Wednesday and it is a great place to go to people watch , shop for local produce including Amish baked goods as well as bargain hunt for unknown treasures.
